Chapter 197: Triple Strike Combo
The leader in black reacted swiftly, but Zheng Yichen had already resolved to launch a sneak attack from the shadows. There was no chance he’d give them time to react properly. The instant he drew the high-replica Excalibur, he channeled massive amounts of Mana from the Magic Weapon Summoning Book. The Light Tide instantly transformed the sword into a four-thousand-meter long blade.
Sadly, to focus the attack power , this modified version of Light Tide had almost completely abandoned area coverage.
Even so, a Little Dragon less than ten meters long wielding such a weapon was terrifying just to see, forget about being struck by it. Zheng Yichen swept the condensed light sword fiercely through the crowd. Among these people in black, he sensed many emanating powerful auras.
Unlike the situation within the Forbidden Zone during the Witch Hunt, everyone’s strength wasn’t heavily suppressed by the Black Mist here. Although the Light Tide’s direct attack range seemed enormous, Zheng Yichen had actually tested it: beyond one kilometer, its power drastically weakened. At its maximum range, even in this concentrated beam form, it only hit with the force of a beginner-level Magic spell.
Basically, against strong foes, the first two kilometers held the real killing power. Beyond that, any capable defender could likely block it with some defensive measure. Those who couldn’t? Well, those who couldn’t must be weak grunts!
Moreover, Magic wasn’t weightless. Swinging this Excalibur, channeling the Light Tide, definitely made Zheng Yichen slower. Normally, going all out, he could swing even a forty-meter blade in a full circle in under half a second. Now, with this, a single rotation took over ten seconds.
He really wanted to compress the Light Tide’s power, shortening the effective range to something more manageable. Forget four kilometers; four hundred meters would be fine! Sadly, that was wishful thinking. The Light Tide was inherently a single-burst offensive Magic. Zheng Yichen was forcibly sustaining it by channeling vast amounts of Mana from the Magic Weapon Summoning Book – already incredibly abnormal. Using this thing like a simple Light Sword was just wasteful!
But its power was no joke. The men in black caught directly in the Light Tide beam immediately suffered ruin. Those at the forefront might hold out for a moment, but they couldn’t withstand the relentless, high-density barrage. Their powers were forcibly depleted, and the instant their defenses shattered, they were completely wiped out by the Light Tide’s onslaught.
However, Zheng Yichen’s attack couldn’t cover everyone. While he struck one area, the men in black from another spot seized the chance to counterattack. Magics imbued with black energy pressed down fiercely on Zheng Yichen. He slightly pursed his lips. The last time he encountered this, he’d sensed something odd – this Magic contained a highly… invasive power.
While Witch’s Power was somewhat radioactive, this felt like a virulent, sticky poison. Once it hit someone, it clung like stubborn tar, incredibly hard to fully purge. It began severely ‘corrupting’ the target instantly upon contact. This corruption behaved like a mutating virus; once it infected you, ‘cleansing’ likely required cutting out the affected parts.
It was a serious nuisance… This was the Evil God’s Power!
Fortunately, this power met Zheng Yichen, who possessed a shielding technique with the power to ‘contain’. As long as a vital body part wasn’t blown off, Zheng Yichen wasn’t afraid. Besides, this power wasn’t absolute; it could still be dispersed by other energies!
His other free claw flicked. He drew a second Magic Arms weapon from the Magic Weapon Summoning Book floating beside him. Frostmourne, emanating frigid, ghostly blue ice light. Vast Frost power gathered, then slammed to the ground and erupted. The earth froze solid instantly, along with the men in black who hadn’t dodged in time.
After Zheng Yichen released the channeling, the Excalibur maintaining the Light Tide promptly shattered into shimmering fragments. Freed, that claw slammed back onto the Magic Weapon Summoning Book once more. The Magic Arms named Flame Judgment was drawn out. Like the previous two summoned weapons, this one emerged already fully charged.
With a swing of the sword, massive waves of Flame sprang up in the sky above everywhere except a three-meter radius around Zheng Yichen. The flames descended instantly with his strike. The Magics attacking him were violently dispersed amidst the Flame unleashed by the Judgment.
The falling flames clashed violently with the Frost-covered ground below. When opposing Elemental Powers collide, besides mutual cancellation, the rest results in… explosions!
The explosive conflict between the Ice Element and Fire Element immediately eliminated one wave of insufficiently powerful men in black. Another portion struggled against the searing heat after the flames fully landed, succumbing soon after. Yet, the power of Judgment wasn’t over once the flames touched the ground. The earth cracked open, revealing glowing fissures radiating intense heat. The flames burning on the surface, after a brief pause, suddenly intensified as if ignited by an accelerant. A second eruption!
This time, the flames erupted upwards from below!
“Hmph!” Zheng Yichen gave a soft grunt, releasing his hold on both Magic Arms. Deprived of his sustaining power, the weapons immediately dissipated into the air. Lily, crouching in the basket, stared wide-eyed at Zheng Yichen. Before, she’d only seen him fleeing miserably without any attempt to fight back. The only things she’d noted were… well, he seemed kind-hearted, and he mumbled weird things to himself when idle – probably plans or formulas she couldn’t understand.
Other than that, he tinkered with strange new inventions. None of that screamed ‘powerful’. But now, she fully grasped just how fierce this jet-black Little Dragon, who’d carried her for so many days, truly was…
A big group of seemingly formidable men in black – gone in less than ten seconds. Zheng Yichen had wiped out ninety percent! That slash of light soaring into the sky, the intense, soul-chilling Frost, and the final flames that felt like they decided the fight – all deeply imprinted the meaning of ‘power’ in her mind. They vastly broadened her horizons.
This world… seemed so incredibly exciting!
“The Magic Weapon Summoning Book… is it really this terrifying…?” A surviving man in black murmured, eyes fixed on the Projection of the book hovering beside Zheng Yichen. Just three Magic Arms… Two were even highly common ones! Frostmourne, known for Soul Drain and Soul Binding enhancements, was one of the fastest-growing weapons through killing.
Its power in single combat might not match the raw, crushing area effect of the Berserker’s Axe, but its sheer attack potency was outstanding. Cultists loved this weapon, except… it wasn’t great for capturing sacrifices. When Cultists offered sacrifices, they needed both flesh and Soul. When using Frostmourne, the biggest prize – the Soul – would just get stolen by the sword. So, despite being a soul-snatching, evil Magic Arms… they adored it dearly.
Not just powerful, but it also had Frost crowd control – such a great weapon! On the flip side, the purifying Azure Wrath held significant favor among Sanctuary Church members. Its Purification power offered a good counter against evil Magic Arms like Frostmourne.
Plus, Azure Wrath also had Frost properties! Its attack power wasn’t top-tier, and the controlling Frost attributes, lacking Frostmourne’s Soul Binding enhancement boost, were slightly weaker. However, this weapon offered unique counters. It was supremely effective against the undead!
When clearing out undead infestations, simply planting an Azure Wrath into the ground allowed casters to rely on its Holy Sanctuary Aura effect. This would eliminate lower-tier undead nearby, mowing through weaklings like grass. Then there were its support effects: the weapon enchantment it could bestow directly strengthened the wielders’ weapons and power.
Even non-Spellcaster users could temporarily act as support with this weapon. Overall, it was versatile: crowd control, attack, support – it had them all.
Then there was Flame Judgment, the fire-element Magic Arms… Currently, among Intermediate Magic Weapons, there were two fire types. The other was the Meteor Shower Blade, a very beautiful but difficult-to-master long blade. Why… well, some Mages quite liked it. Mainly due to its Flame Energy Storage effect. This ability absorbed stray Mana released during combat, converting it into Fire Element for temporary storage. This converted, stored Fire Element acted like controllable Fire Magic reserves.
Consuming the stored Fire Element granted significant bonus effects when casting Fire Magic spells. That’s why Mages specializing in Fire Magic were particularly fond of using it. Some would even inject their own Mana into the weapon before battle to charge the Flame Energy Storage. There was conversion loss, but the resulting power boost was worth it! As for the Mana spent?
Pre-battle prep; they could just replenish it quickly during downtime. As long as they kept the summoned weapon present, the stored Fire Element energy wouldn’t dissipate. A very handy effect, right? Now, the Meteorite summoning… that Magic indeed had immense power, but it wasn’t very practical in combat. There was a noticeable delay between casting and the magical Meteorite actually striking. That delay gave the target ample time to escape.
Put simply, anyone not blind would be scrambling away. Actually hitting someone with this spell was unlikely unless they were incredibly weak or firmly restrained within the impact area. After all, Meteorite calling Magic was fundamentally siege Magic… Using it against person-sized targets? Like using an anti-tank gun to fire at individuals – a massive overkill.
