Chapter 250: Magic Weapon Contract Ring
“Ah-choo~!” Zheng Yichen sneezed and rubbed his nose. A Bionic Alchemical Avatar could sneeze? That really was a rare situation. Shaking his head, he looked toward the entrance of Kachi Academy. In the Otherworld, there was no Saturday or Sunday, but there were holidays. However, it was only a few days each month, not many.
Today was a rare holiday. Zheng Yichen had come here early to wait for someone. Lily walked out of the academy entrance and spotted him at a glance. It wasn’t that Zheng Yichen stood out, but a reaction in her gut. She had felt he would be there. When she looked over, he was indeed waiting for him.
“How have things been lately?” Zheng Yichen glanced at Lily. Since she couldn’t openly hunt for blood food at School, he had arranged that through Qin. Holidays were short, but students were free in the late afternoons and evenings. The Academy didn’t have full-day classes.
Some days had just one class. Of course, while the Academy trained Spellcasters and even Warriors, they also had cultural studies.
Most holidays were practical time for students. Older students acted like Mercenaries or teamed up with reliable ones for adventures, or went with teachers. This helped build experience, and teachers earned extra money. Compared to free education on Earth, the Academy in the Otherworld was more realistic.
“It’s all right. I’ve learned a fair bit.” Lily crossed her arms with a distant look. Not out of pride, but the truth was, most lessons were basic. Advanced combat skills came more from the Ghost Maids.
Right now, the instructors at School taught general, basic stuff that was nowhere near the level she’d come across.
“Focus on basics first. The stronger stuff will come once you break your limits.” Zheng Yichen patted Lily’s head. The Academy tagged her as magic-less, meaning no Spellcaster path, and Warrior was doubtful. So, despite her strong body, without breaking through, she wouldn’t get real attention.
If she could master Battle Qi now, she’d be a top training target right away!
“Battle Qi… I’d rather try that ‘Inner Qi’ you talked about.” Lily pouted. The ‘martial arts’ system Zheng Yichen proposed was huge, reigniting hope she’d once given up on for power.
At first, it sounded average. But later stuff, like shattering the Void… after Zheng Yichen explained it, she grasped how powerful it was.
Even though he called it theoretical, she still wanted to try. Anyway, it was her new goal. When would she reach it? Not a worry; like him, she had all the time she needed.
“That Inner Qi is just theory. You’ve never touched special power. How could you develop something like that?” Zheng Yichen reasoned. Inner Qi was vague; he knew less about it than Battle Qi in this world.
What bothered Zheng Yichen was, whenever he had time, he trained hard. But he still hadn’t felt a wisp of Battle Qi. Maybe his body got strong too fast, making Battle Qi harder to unlock?
Hmm, better put: research distracted him from body training. After a leap in strength from the Forbidden Zone, Loris stopped managing that side.
“…All right, I’ll master Battle Qi tomorrow.”
“That’s the spirit… Huh!?” Zheng Yichen’s voice shot up as he stared, surprised. “You can cultivate Battle Qi already?”
“I could a few days ago. I just kept trying ‘Inner Qi’ and failed since.”
“It didn’t wreck your stomach?” Zheng Yichen’s jaw twitched, and he glanced at Lily’s belly. Battle Qi was full-body energy. When not used, it spread evenly. When used, it concentrated intensely.
After all, it was wild power. Pushing it into the core… that was suicidal!
“It felt weird, but no big issue.” Lily shook her head.
“Clever, but think about your basic skills now. They’re too weak? Remember, powerful moves are forged by experts. Beginners don’t invent systems. So, step by step. Grow stronger the regular way first. When you deeply understand power, then explore your system.”
Lily frowned, her small face troubled, and nodded. “I get it.”
“Ha ha ha, no worries! Time’s our best friend. You’re young; take it slow!” Zheng Yichen laughed hard. “By the way, since it’s your first holiday and you can unlock Battle Qi now, I have a cool gift ready.”
He took Lily’s curious hand and headed to a Bar. Using a top-tier member card, he found a quiet Booth Area. These booths had Magic effects. High-class spots let visitors mute outside sounds and go unnoticed.
Not a secret. These booths were popular, especially with Nobles seeking thrills… what thrills? Heh heh…
Under Lily’s gaze, he took a Ring from his Personal Space. It had no gems. Simple, just some patterns. But its value? If known, it would spark battles. When Zheng Yichen made it, he marveled. At this point, his creations had that pull.
“What is this?”
“Something big. Know about the Magic Weapon Summoning Book?” Zheng Yichen asked.
“Uh… your book.” Lily nodded. At Academy, she’d heard loads about it. Many students wanted a Magic Weapon Contract. It was in top-students’ rewards.
Lily looked into its history and learned its uniqueness. Amazing. But as a Corpse Puppet without Spiritual Power, she could never sign the Contract to use it.
“This lets you use the book.” Zheng Yichen tossed the Ring, sure to cause a fight. It had a built-in Magic Weapon Contract, usable without signing. Making it took effort. He tested a Soul Crystal repeatedly, ruined dozens before creating this one.
But he added extra limits to the treated Soul Crystal inside. The Ring only bound with the first power infused. Later infusions did nothing and flowed into the Magic Weapon Summoning Book via the Contract.
It was half-done. Since Lily lacked special power, he’d planned to add a power-storing part. That would bulk it up. But now, he avoided that.
“?”
Seeing Lily confused, Zheng Yichen explained. “After you have Battle Qi, bind it. Don’t sweat losing it. If lost, others can’t use it. I’ll make you a new one.”
He shrugged. Knowing how to make it, future rings were easy. He could crank out hundreds with materials, but wouldn’t mass-produce. Most people had Spiritual Power; signing the Contract was no hurdle. Beings like Lily?
How many existed?
“Thank you.” Lily said it happily. After hearing about the Ring’s use, she knew Zheng Yichen made it just for her… Holding it, she felt overjoyed.
“Unlock Battle Qi quickly. If someone binds it first, you can’t use it.” Zheng Yichen tapped her head.
“Got it, got it. I could’ve days ago. Easy.” Lily eyed the Ring, too big for her finger. “…Seems large.”
“No prob; stretchy material. Self-adjusting.” Zheng Yichen slid the Ring onto Lily’s ring finger. Way too big, it shrank to fit snugly.
Then Lily sat up straight in front of him. A strange power wave surged around her… Battle Qi? Whoa! Didn’t she say tomorrow? Why now? Zheng Yichen’s jaw twitched. Thankfully, the Booth Area had high-end air isolation. Her energy wouldn’t attract notice.
With her focused, Zheng Yichen rubbed his eye and sat aside, sipping juice to not disrupt her. He was also curious: how did Battle Qi form?
Meditation?
He watched closely. Okay, Battle Qi was as books said: came many ways. Some by hard training, some by accident. Lily meditating it out wasn’t odd.
Three minutes later… Lily opened her eyes.
“Whoa, so fast!!”
“?” Lily tilted her head, puzzled. “What fast?”
“Three minutes and already Battle Qi?”
“Oh… that was normal.” Lily scratched her head. She tried funneling a wisp of fresh Battle Qi into the Ring. Her lips thinned: Battle Qi was wild, as teachers warned. Beginners could practice it passively, but actively using it risked injury.
Using Battle Qi meant concentrating it in one area. Poor control easily harmed the user.
Lily emitted it from her finger. First attempt gave stabbing pain. No big deal. Zheng Yichen’s Ring bound with her power now. No one could steal it.
“Normal? Tell me.” Zheng Yichen covered half his face. This Little Lolita got Battle Qi so casually, while he struggled and missed a trace. Was his method wrong? He’d tried meditating in private.
But how could a dragon cross legs?
“Meditating doesn’t guarantee Battle Qi. I first felt energy during training. I paused to try ‘Inner Qi’ and all tries failed… Then I found I don’t need hard training: sitting still works too.”
“Impressive.” Zheng Yichen pushed his jaw up, sealing his dropped mouth. Meditative cultivation? Could she unlock quirky power? He checked Lily’s energy. Nope: just Battle Qi, like in the book’s version. Huh, wait—some difference.
He sensed deeper: Lily’s Battle Qi held traces like an immortal Witch’s Power. Faint, nothing fierce, but special. Likely due to her Corpse Puppet nature.
Extra trait? Good news: it added a soul-striking buff in fights.
“Test the Magic Weapon Summoning Book first. I set strong permissions for this Contract.”
