Chapter 8: Where Did Everyone Go?
“I want this dragon.” Without answering the President’s words, the Loli simply sat on Zheng Yichen’s head, one hand gently stroking his head, seeming to enjoy the feeling of touching an object.
At the same time, her tone was not one of discussion but a statement of fact. To the President and the others, such a tone was undoubtedly a provocation. As for the underlings, they were specially chosen. The Boss hadn’t spoken, so they didn’t voice any opinions, or rather… they didn’t have the chance to!
The President and the others completely failed to notice their own men’s current state. They appeared no different from usual, but careful observation would reveal their bodies trembling slightly, their eyes betraying subtle, helpless fear.
“That’s impossible!” a man said coldly and fiercely, staring at this Loli. For this dragon, they had used up all their resources. The place they were rooted in was just a Town, and in a remote area at that, so it was very hard to accumulate sufficient strength.
The reason they could muster so much power this time was purely because the benefits brought by this matter were too great.
So after working so hard for so long, giving up the profits they had in hand was something most of those present would not agree to!
Although the President himself wasn’t very willing either, what he wanted to say more was, “If you like it, take it.” Being able to sit in the position of President, even if just for a remote Town’s branch, showed he had some ability; at the very least, his vision wasn’t completely blind.
In terms of experience, he was also far beyond those local landlords in the Town. Being well aware of the kind of formidable power existing in this world, he also knew clearly what the right course of action was now. However, after that man spoke before him, the President’s heart screamed, “Bad!”
“Oh? Impossible? This isn’t up to you,” the Loli tilted her head. “Although you don’t seem to be the one in charge, that’s fine.”
“I was just asking casually…”
The Loli lightly swung her little feet. At that moment, the President’s face changed dramatically, his composure completely crumbling. “Please wait, sir! You can take this dragon anytime!”
“Who gave you the courage to interrupt me while I was speaking?” The sweet, faint smile on the Loli’s face completely vanished. As her expression changed, a thick smell of blood filled the air.
“I… I’m very sorry… please spare us…” Stepping back two steps involuntarily, the President opened his mouth to say something more, but noticing a shadow enveloping them, all that remained was terror and despair…
What was going on?
Gradually regaining consciousness from his faint, Zheng Yichen felt his nose was a bit itchy. Subconsciously, he wanted to reach out with his claw to scratch it, only to get a solid hit on his face. The point of impact was small, but he felt like a child slapped by an adult; his drowsiness completely disappeared!
Holding his dragon face, he abruptly sat up, looking around in shock. The Crossbow Bolts that had pierced his limbs and wings had been pulled out. He didn’t know what method the remover used; despite the bolts having barbs, their removal didn’t leave tearing wounds where they had been embedded.
As for his location, if he remembered correctly, it should be the Town he had secretly observed multiple times before. The benefits of these dragon eyes were too many, the most basic being the ability to see far.
“%¥…” A soft, sticky voice came from below. Zheng Yichen, a bit distracted and puzzled about his own situation, couldn’t help but look down. A Little Lolita was slightly standing on tiptoe, raising one hand to express something.
This Loli… was the one from last night!
He couldn’t understand her words, but judging from the changes in syllables, she seemed to switch through several languages, even one that Zheng Yichen found quite melodic and carried a strange yet familiar feeling. The familiarity wasn’t from his own cognition but a bodily recognition-derived familiarity. Yet, this familiarity was ultimately of an unfamiliar nature; even without the unfamiliarity, Zheng Yichen couldn’t possibly figure it out.
Strange, this Town had many people before, why wasn’t there anyone now… Looking down again at the Little Lolita still trying to communicate with him, perhaps because he didn’t respond, her cheeks puffed up slightly in annoyance, her expression pitiful and lovable, making him want to reach out and pat her head.
Seeing his own claw, Zheng Yichen temporarily gave up on that idea. This body gave him good control over strength; he could carve normal small characters on stone without issue, but stone was ultimately an inanimate object.
Not to mention whether he might hurt this strangely-originating Loli, what if he scared her?
“Not even understanding the Dragon Language, are you really a dragon?” Hands on hips, the Little Lolita gently kicked the ground, squinting her eyes slightly as she looked up at Zheng Yichen.
Zheng Yichen looked down at the Little Lolita who kept trying to communicate with him, an expression of helplessness on his face. No matter what you say, even if you’re a prodigy Loli who doesn’t match your apparent age and masters many languages, not understanding is still not understanding. Even if you learn many languages of this world, could you possibly directly master Chinese?
As for other languages, Zheng Yichen’s knowledge of foreign languages was limited to stuff like “gudao maoni,” “gudao yifu ni,” or certain easily understandable terms from some small movies…
“Hmm~ It seems there are no dragons who don’t understand the Dragon Language,” the Little Lolita leaned against Zheng Yichen, her small hand gently supporting her chin. The Dragon Language was a unique language of the Dragon Clan. Unlike Human languages, which require learning or frequent exposure to master, Dragons could receive their race’s Inherited Memory after birth, which included the Dragon Language. For a dragon, speaking the Dragon Language was as simple as eating or drinking. Well, provided that the dragon had passed the hatchling stage of only squawking.
When Zheng Yichen was being hunted, he did speak—those languages she didn’t understand. There were very few languages in this world that she didn’t understand.
A Young Dragon that seemed to lack Inherited Memory, wasn’t raised by a Mother Dragon, and was completely feral, would be lucky not to become a beast. Yet, this one before her not only hadn’t “devolved,” but various signs indicated he possessed ample intelligence and knowledge she wasn’t familiar with.
This dragon also had a characteristic that normal dragons didn’t have: he had no Dragon’s Aura.
Dragon’s Aura wasn’t just an imposing pressure that stressed people; it could also inflict strong mental pressure on beings weaker than itself, and even interfere with beings of the same level. If Zheng Yichen had Dragon’s Aura, even the hunt wouldn’t have seemed so pathetic.
At the very least, within a certain range, those ordinary horses wouldn’t have dared to move at all.
What made her even more interested and wanting to keep this dragon was… this dragon was ignoring the dangerous properties of her body!
