Chapter 328: Growing Massively Stronger, Absorbing New Genes!

Riven paused and started assigning the first few roles in his head while the new network finished settling. One brain could handle basic aura maintenance, another could watch for incoming projectiles, and a third could keep track of remaining mana and spirit. The rest would stay free for whatever the fight required at the moment.

"Now, let’s try the raw power of this new Talent..."

He opened his palm and pointed it in front of him, into the wastelands that were devoid of complex life.

And then...

A massive, flattened crater exploded in front of him from his raw psychic power alone, enough for him to destroy a whole skyscraper and flatten it onto the floor if he wished. The ground shook for several seconds afterward, and a cloud of dust rose from the new crater. He looked at the result, then closed his hand and pulled the excess psychic energy back under control before it could spread any farther.

"Ki, Spirit Energy, Mana, and now Psychic Power, all of my energies are rapidly growing and developing into new, unprecedented ways, I need to keep growing though, but with this and these stat bonuses..." Riven thought, looking at the new notifications. "I think I’ve grown plenty strong to be considered at the pinnacle of B Rank in base. If I activate all stat-boosting skills, I can bridge the gap between B to A, and as I showed in my recent fight yesterday, I have even touched the S Rank Realm, even if for a few moments..."

Riven stared at the final prompt and already started weighing whether to absorb everything at once or sort the genes first.

"So the Genes were absorbed, and a lot of them this time," he nodded, but then noticed something odd. "But why not the Swamp Witch or her Slime? Wait, do they not have any genes or DNA because they’re spiritual beings? So I suppose I cannot extract genes or DNA from things that just don’t have them, huh? Though I can still absorb and assimilate their supernatural power by consuming their cores."

He scrolled through the list again to confirm which options were missing, he figured out the reason some were missing was the same reason he wouldn’t be able to get a gene or DNA from a ghost, creatures that simple lacked flesh, blood, or cells would never give him genes, as simple as that. However, for the rest, it seemed possible, even... even the Sorrowful Heart, an organ from an ancient Precursor which turned into a Dungeon Boss.

The fact that the heart still registered as a valid source surprised him more than the others.

"It’s a little bizarre but... Sure, let’s go."

Riven nodded along and pressed [Yes] without the slightest hesitation.

The confirmation window closed the moment he selected the option.

The moment he agreed, the genes rapidly melded with his own DNA. They fused with the very roots of his existence and began rewriting his body once more on a fundamental level. Heat and cold mixed strangely beneath his skin as the process unfolded, his aura surging massively and growing rapidly, expanding everywhere. Blood Energy manifested, then Psychic Power, then Ki and even Blood Ki, a fusion of both Blood Energy and Vitality itself.

The different energies layered on top of each other and forced him to stay still while they settled.

At the same time the Authority of Gluttony hungrily devoured any residual bad effects and completely forced the new genetic material under Riven’s absolute control. This allowed him to always remain fully in charge while still being capable of maintaining his original form and appearance whenever he wished, as usual. What’s more, the power of the Sorrowful Heart’s Genes, as he thought, were much more than the other three combined!

The heart’s contribution stood out clearly above the rest and pushed the overall change further than he had expected.
