Chapter 331: Absolute Power Over Blood And Life

-----

Riven started to wonder about the deep connection between this Ancient Heavenly King and the Origin of Vampires themselves.

He had considered the idea that his mother had given to him, but now, it felt almost like the theory she had was confirmed to be true. Riven let out a low sigh and shook his head, realizing he shouldn’t overthink something he still has no clear, true answer to.

The fusion of the two mutations had made the shared ancestry hard to ignore, yet he still lacked any solid proof beyond the system messages.

Well, he’d have to seek the answers himself.

Riven decided to calm down instead and leave those thoughts for later, shaking his head and then looking at his appearance.

He checked the new height, the red hair, and the glowing runes one more time before he tried to shift back toward his normal form.

It seemed that like any mutation, there was no drain of power or anything, he could... he could permanently stay in this form if he wished, with no apparent consequences other than his appearance changing too much.

The system showed no timer and no ongoing cost, which meant the change could last as long as he wanted.

Of course, he didn’t even look like Riven anymore but like another guy, he’d indeed become something similar to a clone of the Asura Blood Sea Emperor, and he disliked it.

The taller frame, red hair, and glowing runes made his reflection feel like a stranger every time he checked it, which made him feel a strange feeling like he was being overwritten by someone else.

But that was beside the point, the trait offered amazing stat boosts and above all, several insane techniques!

The 600 percent increase to all stats and the much larger boosts to the blood-related energies were hard to ignore even if the appearance bothered him.

Riven had already used one without even thinking, while the others all seemed... utterly apocalyptic in nature.

He was afraid of trying any of them, he imagined his entire Spirit Dungeon Realm might be destroyed if he does, and above all...

The names alone made him hesitate before he even tried to activate them.

"Ugh? I can’t..."

And when he tried using several of them anyway, unfortunately... nothing happened.

They couldn’t be conjured or activated!

Each attempt ended the same way, with no response from the technique and a growing discomfort in his chest.

The more he tried, the sharper the pain in his Blood Sea became. It seemed he was severely lacking on Blood Energy and Blood Ki, he required at least a hundred times more to use the weakest of these techniques, the "Blood Dragon Strangles Demons".

The pain faded only when he stopped forcing the techniques and let the energy settle again.

It seemed the only one he could use was the original, the "Great Blood Soul Sea Technique", which was what he’d done before.

That single technique responded immediately and did not trigger the same shortage of energy.

It seemed it also came with the perk of being able to fuse Blood Energy/Blood Ki with his own Soul and ultimately condense everything into an endless Sea of Soul and Blood power, immensely increasing his strength.

He tested a small circulation of the fused energy and felt the temporary increase register in his status before he pulled it back.

Now, if he paired this with his Spirit Energy, Mana, and more, just how strong could he become?

"With this transformation alone... No, if I stack it with my other transformations such as the Immortal Alien and the Nine Tailed Fox, I could surely reach S Rank," he nodded.

"Though my appearance... I’ll become something completely different than what I am... well, no, maybe that’s for the better? That way I am not easily recognized."

The taller frame and red hair would make it hard for anyone to connect the form back to his normal look.

He hadn’t considered this before, but it could help him disguise himself as other people, even though... he would look so alien people would be scared and think he’s a gate monster, so maybe not.

The nine tailed fox was... fine? He knew there were nine tailed kitsunes in Japan, they were a family of humans with fox traits, the strongest of them manifesting such traits.

That form stayed closer to something people already understood, so it would draw less panic than the Asura version.

"Well, regardless, I believe I’m done here," he sighed, returning back to his normal appearance. "Let’s return."

He closed the last system windows and stepped through the portal without testing any further combinations for the moment.

Riven returned home, where his wife, adoptive children, and friends greeted him with smiles on their faces, crying in happiness for his return.

The moment he stepped through the front door the noise of the group hit him all at once.

"Riven! Welcome back!"

"Happy birthdayyyyy!"

"Everything’s ready, let’s celebrate!"

"Woah?!"

Riven was taken aback, the house had all kinds of colorful decorations, and now there was a huge birthday cake at the center, along with snacks and drinks.

Streamers hung from the ceiling and several balloons floated near the corners of the room.

Sure, they didn’t really invite anybody else outside of their group, but they were already plenty of people anyway.

Elisa, Riven, Daniela, Carlos, Label, Kagehisa, Goki, Ren, Hinata, Vladimir, Natalie, Philip, Emma, and Clair already made a huge group of people, enough for Elisa to feel satisfied and not desire to call for anyone else.

The living room felt full with everyone standing around the table and the cake.

Yes, even Vladimir was participating.

The former Fenrir Cultist was wearing a birthday hat annoyingly while looking at Riven like he wanted to strangle him.

He kept the hat on only because someone had forced it onto his head earlier and he had not bothered to take it off yet.

He was forcing a smile when they all greeted him before he quietly moved away, sat on a corner and drank wine in silence like a depressed housewife who couldn’t deal with her failed marriage any longer and had to drown her sorrows in alcohol.

He stayed in that corner for the rest of the greeting and only glanced up when someone walked past with more drinks.
