While Greemir was holding off Forgiving,

Richie, as Greemir’s deputy officer, led three subordinate officials to quickly charge into the forest. Their footsteps were hurried, their eyes filled with anxiety.

Since Forgiving was still around, it indicated that headquarters’ prediction had been wrong.

Other Vassal Tier monsters might also be hiding within this abandoned city. To avoid attracting the attention of more Corrupted Beasts, they had to find the twins as quickly as possible, then retreat immediately!

“Hurry! We must find them!” Richie urged in a low voice, his tone carrying a hint of suppressed tension. His gaze swept around, trying to find traces of the twins.

Really now,

How did they disappear in the blink of an eye?

How could ten-year-old children possibly run so fast?!

However, just as they had barely penetrated the forest, a deep growling suddenly echoed around them. Following this, a pack of Corrupted Beasts sprang out from the shadows. Their eyes glowed crimson, fangs exposed, viscous saliva dripping from their mouths, as if they had been waiting for a long time.

“Damn it?! So many Corrupted Beasts?! Prepare for battle!” Richie shouted, instantly releasing all his spiritual energy. His body was enveloped in a layer of dazzling light, spiritual power burning like flames around him. The other three subordinate officials followed suit, each releasing their spiritual energy. The four men’s auras instantly became sharp and powerful.

The Corrupted Beasts showed no fear, roaring as they lunged forward. The battle erupted instantly, with the sounds of spiritual energy and curse power violently colliding echoing throughout the forest.

As subordinate officials of a Celestial Augur Knight, Richie and the other three possessed formidable strength, all having reached at least the middle ranks of the Divine Martial Realm.

Combined with their rich combat experience, even at a numerical disadvantage, they still overwhelmed the pack of Corrupted Beasts in terms of momentum.

Richie continuously swung his battle hammer, each strike carrying thunderous power, repelling the lunging Corrupted Beasts. His movements were swift and precise, his eyes filled with calm determination.

After an intense battle,

The raging curse power gradually subsided.

The Corrupted Beasts finally all fell, their bodies scattered on the ground, the air heavy with the stench of blood.

Richie panted heavily, his weapon trembling slightly, clearly having expended considerable energy. He looked around, and only after confirming there were no more enemies did he let out a slight breath of relief.

“Quick, keep searching, we must find the twins!”

While catching his breath, Richie anxiously looked back at his companions.

However,

Just as Richie turned his head, the deputy officer’s eyes suddenly contracted. Because he discovered that the comrades who had been fighting alongside him had somehow vanished without a trace.

Not only that.

The scene before Richie’s eyes began to distort. Trees, ground, even the sky seemed to be pulled by an invisible force, becoming blurry. Richie’s pupils contracted sharply, and an ominous feeling welled up in his heart.

“What… is happening?”

As Richie’s vision cleared again, the scene before him made the deputy officer freeze in place.

He saw that the corpses of the defeated Corrupted Beasts had all disappeared, replaced by two subordinate officials lying on the ground covered in wounds, clearly having been seriously injured in the recent battle.

Soon, these two subordinate officials passed out from exhaustion.

Instantly, Richie’s face turned pale.

At this moment, he suddenly realized what had just happened.

“Those were illusions?! How did they suddenly… who exactly… hmm??”

However, Richie seemed to have no time to ponder these questions.

Because in the next moment, a hysterical roar from his colleague completely interrupted Richie’s thoughts.

—”You damned Corrupted Beasts, die!!”—

With an angry howl, another subordinate official who could still move swung his hammer heavily toward Richie.

“Hey! Rokota!! It’s me!! Wake up!”

Unfortunately,

Rokota, whose eyes were already covered with cherry-colored light, couldn’t understand Richie’s words at all. In his ears, Richie’s words had been automatically transformed into the roars of Corrupted Beasts. The sound not only failed to stop his attack but instead made him strengthen his force.

“BOOM!”

With a thunderous crash, the heavy hammer smashed into Richie’s head, knocking the subordinate official unconscious.

Meanwhile,

Not far away, behind a large tree, a silver-haired, cherry-eyed beauty was peeking out, silently taking in everything that had just happened.

“Hmmm, it looks like the effect isn’t bad.”

Although it was her first time using the Mist of Illusion on humans, Ailiya was quite satisfied with the results.

Without using much Augury Force, she had directly taken care of four subordinate officials whose strength wasn’t much less than her own.

Looking at her handiwork, Ailiya’s lips couldn’t help but curve upward, revealing an excited and proud smile.

“Hehe~”

After a playful smile, Ailiya looked at the twins whose hands she was holding and asked with concern:

“Miya, Weiya, how are you? Are you hurt? Did those people do anything to you?”

“Sister Ailiya, we’re fine,” Miya shook her head:

“That strange uncle tried to lure us with lollipops! But we cleverly figured it out! Not only did we not let that weird uncle take advantage, we punched him good! Right, Weiya?” Miya turned to look at her sister beside her.

To this, Weiya nodded in agreement.

“Sister Ailiya, who are those people?” Looking toward the distant peak where intense conflict was erupting, Weiya asked curiously.

“Probably people from the Covenant government?”

“Are they bad people?”

“I don’t know,” Ailiya answered honestly.

Ailiya wasn’t sure whether those people were trying to rescue them or, like Uncle Hein and the others, people who coveted their power.

However, perhaps influenced by the incident eight years ago, Ailiya didn’t have much fondness for these outsiders.

To be safe, it was better not to interact with these people.

At this stage, Ailiya didn’t believe she had the ability to protect her little sisters properly.

“In any case, let’s go to the underground safe house first. Cat Sister and the others will drive away these uninvited guests.”

“Mm.” x2

After looking at each other, the twins nodded simultaneously.

“Good, but before that…

Ailiya slowly crouched down, looking at the silver-haired, orange-eyed girl in front of her:

“Weiya, can I ask you a favor?”

“Hmm?”

“Call everyone to help block these people for a while.”

As she spoke, the silver-haired girl turned slightly, gazing toward another direction. There, a swift golden light was tearing through space, speeding toward their location.

Faced with her sister’s request, Weiya nodded obediently.

“Mm.”

With the girl’s nod, from deep within her left eye, a bellflower pattern emitting ice-blue light gradually overflowed.

As the only one among the three sisters at this stage who had integrated part of Bai Lianyue’s primordial power, Weiya naturally possessed some privileges her two sisters didn’t have. Because her body was mixed with the evil god’s power…

Now, Weiya’s status among the Vassal of Earth… in a certain sense was second only to Bai Lianyue.

As Weiya mobilized her power, terrifying waves of energy began to ripple through the peaceful forest.

The golden light continued to rapidly approach the position where Ailiya and the others were.

And this golden light,

Was none other than the Fourth Seat Celestial Augur Knight, Chris-Vitalil, who had just received the signal and was racing toward them.

Originally, Chris had been guarding the Bellflower Glade according to Shawn Ge’s instructions, waiting for the Ailiya sisters who might return home at any moment. But after receiving the signal sent by Richie and the others, she went full throttle toward this location.

“Those children, did they hide in the forest? If so…

Looking at the vast forest area ahead, Chris narrowed her eyes, and rich spiritual energy began to gather at her chest.

However,

Before Chris could deploy her perception field to search for clues about the twins, a piercing alarm blared madly from her earpiece.

In the next instant,

Under Chris’s astonished gaze, hundreds of blood-colored laser beams suddenly erupted from the forest, tearing through the air, rushing toward her with a world-destroying momentum…

“What the hell?! What is this?!”
