Volume 6, Chapter 58 – One Against Two

“Settle things? Bold words, old hag!”

Polarvitan’s enormous serpentine body twisted violently, purple-black curse power surging like a tide, the crimson fury in her serpentine eyes nearly taking on a physical weight.

“I can’t beat you one-on-one!! But two against one — I refuse to believe you can still win!!! Today I’m going to settle the score with you properly!”

At the same time —

Ulutiel in her dragon form beat her wings and appeared at Polarvitan’s side. All three heads turned toward Bai Lianyue simultaneously and spoke in unison:

“Big Sister, you actually went and kissed someone else — how enviable~ Little sister is unhappy about that~”

Words that should have been a pout — and yet, spoken in the low, rumbling voices of three enormous dragon heads, they only sent a chill crawling down the spine.

“Naughty big sister. You need to be taught a lesson.”

And with those words —

Two terrifying surges of power erupted simultaneously from the two evil gods.

The World Serpent’s maw condensed a purple-black curse power beam once more — the energy density this time far exceeding the earlier Evil Sea Wave Cannon. The curse power markings on the beam’s surface twisted and writhed, as though countless resentful souls were wailing within it. Meanwhile, all three of Ulutiel’s heads opened their mouths at once. Pale white flames, golden holy light, and chaotic white mist wound together and fused into a tri-colored beam of annihilation — a destructive breath that launched alongside Polarvitan’s curse power beam, both bearing down on Bai Lianyue at once.

“Abyss Hex — Evil Sea Wave Cannon!!”

“Abyss Hex — Blood-Stained Trident!!”

“Ai’er, step back.”

Bai Lianyue spoke quietly, her voice calm but carrying an authority that left no room for argument.

“Mm.”

Ailiya gave a small, obedient nod, wrapped herself in Augury Force, and quickly retreated.

She understood clearly — staying any closer would only hold Lianyue back.

The next instant —

Bai Lianyue tightened her grip on Snow Mercy. Her dark-red eyes sharpened in an instant. Ice-blue curse power flooded madly into the blade, and the markings along its length blazed to life, filling the air with a resonant, humming sword-song. She did not choose to defend. She went forward — her figure carving a streak of afterimage through the air, ice-blue sword light cascading like the Milky Way spilling over, driving straight into the two oncoming walls of devastating energy.

“BOOM —!!!”

A world-shaking crash rang through the heavens. The instant the two energy streams collided with the sword light, the catastrophic shockwave radiated outward from the point of impact in every direction. The walls at Wishaven’s edge crumbled instantly. The ground split into ravines dozens of zhang deep. Rubble and dust were hurled into the sky, forming a sandstorm that blotted out the sun.

The terrible aura of the clash rippled outward across thousands of li.

Even the people of the distant Kingdom of Qingyun went pale at the sudden overwhelming pressure that washed over them.

High above, the aftershock of the energy collision continued to spread.

But all in all — one person’s attack could not hold against the combined force of two evil gods. The sword qi was swallowed and dispersed by the curse power waves before long.

Yet in that moment when the sword qi had bought just a fraction of a delay against the impact — Bai Lianyue’s figure burst free from the churning energy storm. She flickered in an instant directly toward Ulutiel.

The next moment —

Snow Mercy traced an arc of extreme ice-blue sword light — speed at its absolute limit, nearly tearing through space itself.

The leftmost of Ulutiel’s heads — the one wreathed in pale white flames — didn’t even have time to react before the sword light severed it clean. The head tumbled through the air trailing scalding dragon’s blood, dissolving into drifting fragments of curse power as it fell.

“ROAAAARR —!!!”

The remaining two heads let out a piercing, agonized shriek.

Beneath the agony — oddly enough — a note of something like pleasure.

Bai Lianyue had no interest in Ulutiel’s strange inner world.

She tapped the empty air with one foot and flickered back in an instant, simultaneously raising Snow Mercy high above her.

“Nine Sovereign Star Flash…”

The words left her mouth with quiet calm — and a devastating sword light tore through the atmosphere, bearing down with overwhelming momentum on Polarvitan, who was rushing in from the side.

It ripped mercilessly through Polarvitan’s protective curse power aura and struck her body directly.

Purple-black scales scattered like shrapnel. A massive, gory wound opened across the serpent’s body in an instant. Black blood poured down like a waterfall, staining a wide swath of ground below a deep red.

“Old hag!!!!”

Taking the heavy blow, Polarvitan burned with fury. The great serpent’s body coiled sharply inward — then snapped open again. Countless purple-black curse blades erupted from the serpent’s body and shot toward Bai Lianyue like a torrential downpour.

At the same time, the attacks from Ulutiel’s remaining two heads arrived. Golden holy light bearing the force to purify all things, and chaotic white mist radiating the corrosion of everything it touched — the two energies wove together, forming a beam of annihilation that hammered straight toward Bai Lianyue’s back.

Bai Lianyue had barely finished slicing apart every last one of Polarvitan’s curse blades when she sensed the threat from behind.

The elven girl’s eyes narrowed. She began condensing curse power into Snow Mercy once more.

But then —

The three pairs of eyes along Polarvitan’s serpentine body narrowed slightly.

“Stop.”

A strange voice resonated from that abyss-deep maw.

In an instant —

An invisible force descended on Bai Lianyue without warning. Under its strange influence, the elven girl’s body seized — she hung suspended in mid-air as though locked in place — and the curse power she had just built up scattered and collapsed.

?!!

Is this Polana’s ability?

Damn it…

That last hit didn’t destroy her vocal cords?… Tougher than she looks.

A flash of gravity crossed Bai Lianyue’s eyes. With no time to think, she immediately channeled a massive surge of curse power, forcing the invisible restraint apart through sheer brute strength.

But it was too late.

Free of the lock but with no time to adjust her stance, no time to defend, no time to retreat — Ulutiel’s beam slammed directly into her body.

“Crack —!”

With a world-shaking detonation, the ice-blue curse power field around Bai Lianyue collapsed. Violent pain flooded her entire body, and the elven girl — who rarely showed such things — couldn’t help but let a flash of genuine agony cross her face.

Bai Lianyue’s body was hurled backward like a kite with its string cut. The beam blasted away more than half of her body outright. Her mangled remains tumbled through the air — half her head gone, only the single remaining dark-red eye still holding a trace of sharp clarity. Black blood and shredded flesh scattered across the air. The sight was gruesome beyond description.

Polarvitan saw it and let out a roar of arrogant laughter.

“Ha ha ha!! Serves you right!!”

Ulutiel’s two remaining heads broke into morbid grins as well.

After all — in the past thousand years, her attacks had almost never landed on Bai Lianyue so directly.

The rare success left her feeling quite pleased.

However —

Their expressions hadn’t lasted long before the scene before them stopped them cold.

Bai Lianyue’s shattered remains halted in the air. Immense ice-blue curse power and black life energy welled from the wounds, and the severed limbs began to regenerate at a visible speed. The missing half of her head gradually grew back. The destroyed organs and bones rapidly reconstituted themselves. Within just a few breaths, she was whole again — even the clothing that had been blasted apart was rewoven by her curse power.

“As expected of Big Sister — a truly terrifying regeneration speed~”

The dragon head that Ulutiel had just regrown remarked in a coy, admiring voice.

Ulutiel’s own regeneration was fast — but compared to Bai Lianyue, who possessed the life attribute as an innate part of her nature, it was simply too slow by comparison.

The hallmark of the Terrabond Lineage was their tenacious vitality — and as the Terran Malevolence, Bai Lianyue’s vitality was terrifying even by that standard. Even if her entire body were blasted into fragments, so long as a single piece remained, she could regenerate from it completely.

Even so — taking Ulutiel’s frontal attack almost entirely unguarded had left Bai Lianyue’s face noticeably paler than before. The bellflower mark on her forehead dimmed fractionally.

“The combined force of you two is indeed… not bad.” She paused. “However…”

“However what?”

Polarvitan narrowed all three pairs of eyes, asking coldly.

Faced with that question, Bai Lianyue raised a hand and wiped the remaining blood from the corner of her mouth — and a meaningful smile spread across her face.

“However… you’re quite a bit easier to deal with than I expected.”

Polarvitan: ??!!
