Volume 6, Chapter 83 – The Airheaded Evil God Gets a Bath

Luo Fei’s words had, without question, sounded an alarm in Ailiya’s mind.

After a thousand years of conflict between humanity and the Corrupted Beasts, the vast majority of humans harbored a deep, visceral hostility toward Corrupted Beasts and evil gods alike.

If word got out that the former Terran Malevolence had become a powerless ordinary girl — those who despised evil gods most deeply would likely do terrible things in secret……

Even if the Terran Malevolence had committed the fewest atrocities of the Trinity of Malevolence……

It wasn’t impossible that humans would lay the sins of the Celestial Blight and the Abyssal Lord at Lianyue’s feet regardless.

What to do going forward was something that genuinely needed careful thought.

But before any of that, Ailiya had other, more immediately pressing matters to attend to first.

――――――

In the Lingyuan family’s underground base.

The bathroom that Zhouyu had constructed some time ago was now filled with warm, rising steam. Golden light filtered through the haze, casting soft, shifting pools of light across the tiles.

A faint scent of jasmine body wash drifted through the air, mingling with the warmth of the hot water, making anyone who stepped inside instinctively relax.

Ailiya guided Bai Lianyue inside and closed the door behind them, shutting out the sounds of the outside world.

“The water temperature is already set. Let’s get your clothes off first — I’ll wash you.”

The silver-haired girl’s voice was gentle as she reached up and began undoing the buttons of Bai Lianyue’s loose white examination gown.

After the battle against the two evil gods, Bai Lianyue had already been thoroughly grimy — and then the sauce and grease from her meal earlier had added their share. At this point, the little evil god lady was about on par with a dirty little stray cat.

Ailiya naturally could not allow that to stand. A bath was in order first~

After all, Bai Lianyue in her airheaded state was entirely incapable of bathing herself.

Faced with Ailiya’s intention to help her, the elf girl offered not the slightest resistance. She simply stood there obediently, dark-red eyes wide and uncomprehending, without a trace of self-consciousness.

One by one the buttons of the examination gown came undone, revealing her fair, delicate skin beneath. Her long hair, in its gradient of emerald and silver-white, rested loose over her shoulders, swaying gently with each movement.

Her skin was extraordinarily soft — like the finest white jade, glowing with a warm, luminous quality in the low golden light.

Ailiya helped her out of the examination gown with careful, gentle hands, then eased away the undergarments as well.

In an instant, slender collarbones, soft rounded curves, and a smooth, perfectly proportioned midriff were all laid bare……

A quietly breathtaking sight bloomed within the steam-filled bathroom.

Normally, whenever Ailiya was nearby and Bai Lianyue undressed, she would immediately turn a charming shade of flustered scarlet — and Ailiya would smile wickedly and make the most of it. But now?

The elf girl looked entirely unaffected, and faced with those innocent, guileless eyes, Ailiya found that the desire simply wasn’t there.

Because really —

What would be the point of doing anything with an “airhead”?

“Come here.”

She picked up the soft white bath towel nearby and wrapped it gently around Bai Lianyue, leaving only her bare shoulders and the pale expanse of her legs showing below.

“Alright — let’s go in.”

She guided Bai Lianyue into the shower area. The pre-adjusted hot water cascaded down from the showerhead, and the warm current pouring over her head made Bai Lianyue narrow her eyes with contentment, a small smile curving her lips.

“We’re washing your hair first, okay~ Be good, Lianyue — don’t fidget~”

Ailiya squeezed some shampoo into her palm, worked it into a fine lather, then gently massaged it into Bai Lianyue’s long hair. Her fingertips threaded through the smooth strands, kneading softly at her scalp, the foam sliding down the hair and mixing with the hot water before running to the floor.

Bai Lianyue lowered her head obediently and let Ailiya do as she pleased, letting out soft, satisfied little sounds at intervals — like a cat being stroked the right way.

“Is the temperature alright? Is it too hot?”

Ailiya asked gently as she rinsed the lather out.

“Not hot……feels……nice.”

Bai Lianyue gave her head a small shake, water droplets running from her hair tips, landing on her collarbones and sliding down into the towel.

With the hair washing done, Ailiya picked up the bath loofah, worked it into a thick lather with body wash, then unwrapped the towel from Bai Lianyue and laid it softly against the elf girl’s back.

Her movements were extraordinarily gentle — afraid of hurting this body that had become so tender — fingertips gliding slowly along the curve of her spine, the foam leaving a faint, fragrant trail across the skin.

Then, as she reached the area around Bai Lianyue’s shoulder blades, her pressure slipped — she applied just a little too much force.

The next instant, Bai Lianyue’s body gave a sharp shudder. The relaxed brow she’d had a moment ago immediately creased, and the scrubbed patch of skin flushed a soft, spreading pink — like rouge blooming across a cheek.

“Mm……that hurt.”

Bai Lianyue turned her head with a look of pure aggrieved misery, dark-red eyes shimmering with moisture, the tip of her nose going faintly pink — looking, altogether, terribly pitiful.

The sight of the elf girl transformed into this soft, helpless little thing made Ailiya’s chest tighten immediately. She stopped at once, reaching to stroke the reddened patch of skin with light, apologetic fingers:

“I’m sorry, I’m sorry — I didn’t mean to. Did I press too hard?”

She even bent her head and blew a soft breath over the flushed skin, the warm air drifting across the surface making Bai Lianyue shiver lightly once more.

“It hurts……”

Bai Lianyue was still murmuring softly, and she reached out to catch Ailiya’s wrist — as though seeking comfort.

“I’ll be lighter — even lighter, okay?”

Ailiya slowed her movements, the tips of her fingers trailing gently in soft circles across Bai Lianyue’s back, her expression full of tender concern.

Augury Force gathered quietly at her fingertips, helping Bai Lianyue heal as she went.

Looking at this body that had once withstood attacks at the evil god level — now so fragile that a single moment of careless pressure left it red and sore — the question in her heart only grew.

She really had become……just an ordinary girl.

Such delicate skin……

As Ailiya helped wash Bai Lianyue’s arms, her mind drifted back involuntarily to the events of the night before.

Last night, when Valerdis had suddenly broken free of her restraints and absorbed a massive influx of power, Ailiya had believed for a moment that the situation was beyond saving.

She had fully expected the worst to happen to Lianyue……and then?

When she had arrived on the scene, Valerdis was already gone. That Valerdis — the one who had absorbed the power of both the Celestial Blight and the Abyssal Lord — had been eliminated? That quickly?

What on earth had happened?

Lianyue at that point should have had no power left to fight Valerdis with.

―――――― “Ai’er……foam……got in my eyes……” ――――――

Ailiya was pulled from her thoughts by Bai Lianyue’s small voice.

She came back to herself immediately, picking up the showerhead and carefully rinsing the foam from the elf girl’s face with warm water, her voice apologetic:

“Sorry, sorry — I got distracted.”

She reached up and dried the water from the corners of Bai Lianyue’s eyes, and looking into that expression of complete, untroubled blankness, Ailiya couldn’t help letting out a quiet sigh.

She had been meaning to ask Lianyue about it……

But Lianyue had gone and entered her airheaded mode — understanding nothing.

What a headache.

Still.

Gazing at the elf girl’s slight, delicate frame, Ailiya bit her lip despite herself. She remembered clearly — by that point, Valerdis’s power aura had swollen to something genuinely terrifying. Even she herself, at full strength in her prime, would have struggled to deal with it.

And if there was anyone who could have resolved it that swiftly……

Perhaps it had only been possible for her, as she was in that moment.

Slowly, the cherry-blossom pink of Ailiya’s eyes deepened with something heavy and unspoken.
