Volume 2, Chapter 4 – The Aftereffects Are Quite Severe
“You don’t have to put on such an act.”
Bai Lianyue whispered softly.
The Terran Malevolence, Gaia Lobir, was well aware that her eldest daughter didn’t truly care for her. After all, she was the murderer of the girl’s mother and one of the most feared and despised malevolent deities by humanity. How could Ailiya, who knew her true identity, possibly harbor any affection for her?
Moreover, over the years, to help Ailiya grow stronger, she had subjected the girl to a brutal “devil training regimen.” Each time, she would send several Corrupted Beasts to torment the child, leaving her exhausted and miserable. Being subjected to such torment day in and day out, Ailiya had likely long since grown to hate her.
The only reason the girl stayed by her side was due to the contract of the Salvation Game. As for the act of pretending to be affectionate? It was merely a performance for the sake of her two younger sisters, who remained unaware of the truth.
And now? With Miya and Weiya not around… Ailiya naturally had no reason to continue the charade.
“This… will only make you uncomfortable.”
Bai Lianyue muttered to herself, completely oblivious to Ailiya’s frozen smile and increasingly dark expression.
Staring at the oblivious Terran Malevolence, Ailiya fell silent.
Her small hands unconsciously clenched the hem of her skirt.
After feeling Ailiya release her grip on her arm, Bai Lianyue slowly sat up from the bed.
“I… I need to go to the, uh, bathroom…”
With that, the Terran Malevolence began to make her way out of the room.
Was she in such a hurry to leave because she had noticed the sudden drop in temperature in the room and the strange atmosphere?
Of course not…
The rather oblivious Miss Bai Lianyue was completely unaware of such subtleties.
The reason she was rushing to the bathroom was simply to change into a clean pair of underwear…
Though she didn’t know why she had “wet the bed” again, the sticky sensation between her thighs was making her uncomfortable.
After all, as her body gradually reached its limits, that particular area… was one of the few places where Bai Lianyue still had some sensation.
She needed to hurry and change.

If someone discovered the mess… it would be so embarrassing.
Also…
After the sweet taste faded, there was a strange, fishy aftertaste in her mouth? Weird, she hadn’t eaten anything bitter…
Hmm, whatever. She might as well rinse her mouth while she was at it.
And so, while pressing down on her skirt to prevent Ailiya from noticing anything amiss, Bai Lianyue hurriedly made her way out.
However, in her focus on covering up her embarrassment, Bai Lianyue failed to notice a serious problem… the bandages wrapped around her feet had come loose. As a result, she accidentally stepped on them.
“Whoops—”
With a monotone “cry,” the Terran Malevolence predictably tripped and slammed headfirst into the wall.
*Thud~*
After the dull impact, a large hole was left in the wall.
The good news was that the iron-headed Bai Lianyue wasn’t hurt.
The bad news was that her fall had been rather comical, with her butt sticking high in the air and her skirt flipping up, leaving her completely exposed to Ailiya.
While Bai Lianyue was somewhat carefree, she still had a sense of shame and cared about her dignity.
And so, the next moment, her face flushed bright red as she hurriedly scrambled to her feet, sitting in a seiza position on the floor littered with wall debris. She tightly pressed her legs together and clutched her skirt, ensuring that her lower half was completely covered. She then glared at Ailiya with a serious expression.
*You saw nothing!
You saw nothing!
You saw nothing!
You’re not allowed to see anything! └CA┐*
Though she didn’t say it out loud, her eyes clearly conveyed the message.
Seeing her “mother” in such a state of denial, Ailiya couldn’t help but suppress the dissatisfaction that had been bubbling up inside her. She sighed and rubbed her temples.

“Mom… did you just…”
The silver-haired girl had undoubtedly guessed Bai Lianyue’s thoughts. But… given the obvious stain, pretending she hadn’t seen anything would be too fake, right?
Hearing this, Bai Lianyue’s face turned pale.
*Oh no,
My image… wuwuwu qwq
Also, how am I supposed to explain this to her?! It’s so embarrassing…*
For a moment, Bai Lianyue panicked internally.
But then, Ailiya’s resigned voice reached her ears:
—“Mom, did you… wet the bed?”
*Huh?
Wet the bed?
Is that what she thinks happened?*
Meeting Ailiya’s innocent, cherry-blossom-colored eyes, Bai Lianyue blinked in confusion.
*Oh, right.
I never taught Ailiya about… that sort of thing. Such a pure child probably doesn’t know anything, right?*
Thinking about it… equating it to wetting the bed… well, it made sense.
After a brief moment of hesitation, Bai Lianyue nodded stiffly.
“Yeah… I, uh, accidentally… wet the bed…”
“Sigh, I thought so.”
Ailiya nodded with a look of “I knew it.”
*Phew~*
Seeing that Ailiya had bought her explanation and wasn’t going to press further, the Terran Malevolence felt a wave of relief wash over her.

*Thank goodness,
My dignity is saved~*
Ailiya:
Watching the relieved Bai Lianyue, the silver-haired girl couldn’t help but feel a mix of emotions. However, she didn’t say anything more and simply knelt down in front of Bai Lianyue.
“Mom, you just woke up, and your body hasn’t fully adjusted yet. Do you need my help?”
“Help?”
“Yeah, like helping you take a bath or change your clothes.”
“Huh?”
Hearing this, Bai Lianyue’s face turned red as she recalled some unpleasant memories. The last time Ailiya had helped her bathe, the girl had taken the opportunity to “retaliate” and mess with her.
*Hmph!
I’m not falling for that again!*
“N-no, it’s fine. I can handle it myself,” Bai Lianyue said warily.
“I see.”
“But there is one thing I need your help with.”
“Hm?”
“The bandages tore…”
Bai Lianyue awkwardly glanced at her legs and spoke in a pitiful tone.
“I… forgot where I put the spare bandages… wuwu…”
Hearing this, Ailiya also looked at Bai Lianyue’s legs. After the fall, the bandages had loosened and split apart, revealing the legs hidden beneath.

However,
Whether those could even be called “legs” was debatable… While they had the shape of legs, they weren’t made of normal human flesh and blood. Instead, they were composed of a bizarre, sanity-draining black liquid.
Seeing this, Ailiya’s expression visibly darkened.
As if recalling something, the girl clenched her fists tightly.
Noticing Ailiya’s reaction, Bai Lianyue forced a bitter smile.
“It’s disgusting, isn’t it…? Sorry, Ailiya, for making you see this…”
Hearing this, Ailiya snapped out of her thoughts and quickly shook her head.
“No, it’s fine. I’ll go get the bandages…”
With that, Ailiya glanced at Bai Lianyue’s face, her eyes lingering on the new crack that had appeared on the Terran Malevolence’s cheek…
“And I’ll grab a band-aid too…”
Muttering to herself, Ailiya stood up and left the room.
Left alone in the room, Bai Lianyue numbly reached up and touched her face. A bitter smile spread across her lips.
“As I thought… this body… must be frightening to that child.”
Meanwhile,
Downstairs, Ailiya, now wearing a coat, walked down the stairs with a solemn expression. As her bare feet touched the cold wooden floor of the first floor, a voice called out to her from the side.
“How’s the boss doing?”
Hearing this, Ailiya glanced over at the cat-eared woman leaning against the wall.
Then, with a heavy heart, she shook her head and let out a deep sigh.
“Not good. Lianyue’s body is deteriorating more and more. And even when she’s awake, her mind is… well, it’s hard to describe.”
