Volume 2, Chapter 15 – A Disturbing Summons
On a vast wilderness at the northern border of the Westivian Covenant, terrifying shockwaves erupted as waves of cursed energy and spiritual energy clashed violently.
“Wahahaha!”
Amidst the terrifying energy fluctuations,
Several grotesque, blood-curdling Crimson Hex-tier monstrous birds, their bodies wreathed in fierce cursed energy, let out ear-piercing screeches as they dove down with destructive intent. Their crimson eyes glowed with malice, their wings sharp as blades, and their talons gleamed with a cold light, as if they could tear through anything. With deafening cries, they descended like arrows of death, aiming straight for a middle-aged man in a white military uniform with gray hair.
Facing the frenzied counterattack of these monsters, the gray-haired man remained motionless, as if this were all routine for him.
“Let’s finish this quickly. My son’s waiting for me to come home for his birthday,”
As he spoke, surging gray spiritual energy began to flow.
He raised his left arm, the heavy alloy-covered mechanical limb gleaming with a cold metallic sheen. The moment the monstrous birds’ talons neared, he swung his arm with lightning speed—a loud “bang” echoed as one of the giant birds’ heads exploded, its body crashing lifelessly to the ground.
“Six.”
Immediately after, the gray-haired man spread his arms wide, the mechanical joints whirring and clicking as they moved at high speed.
Despite his bulky, metal-covered frame, his movements were not hindered in the slightest.
In the blink of an eye, he grabbed the wing of another monstrous bird, his fingers tightening with such force that the bird couldn’t even struggle, let alone let out a screech.
The next second, with a horrifying tearing sound, he ripped the bird in half! Crimson blood rained down like a storm, staining the earth.
“Seven.”
Seeing this, the remaining Crimson Hex-tier monstrous birds showed no fear. Instead, driven by fierce cursed energy, they opened their sharp beaks, gathering destructive energy. Several black-red beams erupted, all aimed at the gray-haired man.
Just as the beams were about to hit, the man narrowed his eyes, stomped the ground, and released his spiritual energy in a burst. A fierce wind swept out in all directions. The mechanical device in his palm opened, and a crimson energy rapidly gathered inside the barrel. In an instant, it condensed into a devastating beam of destruction!

“Boom—!”
The blinding beam, condensed with Divine Departure Realm spiritual energy, swept across everything like the wrath of the heavens. In a single moment, the shockwaves from the monstrous birds, their bodies, and even the mountain behind them were reduced to dust.
Dust and blood mist filled the air, and the battlefield fell into a deathly silence after the earth-shattering attack.
The dense cursed energy that had once permeated the area crumbled in an instant.
“Ten.”
Watching the scene before him, the gray-haired man simply counted calmly, then reabsorbed the scattered spiritual energy into his body.
“Lord Shawn Ge, thank you for your assistance!”
After the terrifying Crimson Hex-tier Corrupted Beasts that had been lurking here were defeated, and peace returned to the wilderness, a young officer, covered in blood and wounds, hurried over to the gray-haired man to express his gratitude.
“If you hadn’t arrived in time… the consequences would have been unthinkable……………”
“It’s nothing,”
The officer named Shawn Ge replied indifferently.
“Next time, remember to thoroughly investigate the distribution of Corrupted Beasts in the target area before launching a cleanup operation. Don’t be so reckless again, sending just one Divine Martial Realm expert and a small squad to sweep an area full of Crimson Hex-tier Corrupted Beast nests.”
As he spoke, Shawn Ge glanced helplessly at the wrecked mechs and fighter jets nearby, as well as the dozens of Covenant soldiers’ bodies.
“Otherwise, next time, there might not be anyone to save you.”
“Yes, Lord Shawn Ge.”
The young officer lowered his head in guilt. After a moment of self-reproach, a hint of confusion appeared in his eyes.

“But Lord Shawn Ge, aren’t you supposed to be stationed at the Northern Command Citadel? Why did you come here all of a sudden?”
“Luo Fei can handle things there alone. As for me, I just wanted to wrap up the post-war cleanup in the north as quickly as possible.”
As he spoke,
Shawn Ge gave the young officer a serious look.
“How’s the cleanup going in the other two regions?”
“Those two regions went smoothly. All the Corrupted Beasts have been eliminated.”
“Good, finally…”
Hearing this answer, Shawn Ge let out a relieved sigh.
“It’s finally over…”
Eight years ago,
After the deadly battle between Celestial Blight and Terran Malevolence, the Vassals of Sky ceased their attacks on the Covenant.
After more than twenty years of war, the Westivian Covenant finally had a chance to catch its breath.
After five years of recuperation, the higher-ups issued an order to reclaim lost territory.
Under normal circumstances, the Covenant still lacked the strength to take the initiative against the Vassals of Sky, relying mostly on terrain for defense. But with Celestial Blight recovering from injuries and the main forces of the Vassals of Sky retreating, they now had the ability to reclaim their land.
Without Vassal-tier leaders, the disorganized Corrupted Beasts were no match for the Covenant forces.
In the subsequent reclamation missions,

They finally set foot on these lands once more, eliminating the cruel and terrifying Corrupted Beasts.
Due to the need to guard against a possible resurgence of the Vassals of Sky and to thoroughly eradicate the monsters hidden in the land, the reclamation mission progressed slowly, taking over three years.
And now, it was finally complete.
Sigh,
It’s over………………
For a moment, the heavy weight in Shawn Ge’s heart finally lifted. After all, over the past few years, he had been constantly on edge, fearing that the retreat of the Vassals of Sky was a ruse… fearing that Ulutiel was plotting something.
After all,
Celestial Blight was a cunning bastard.
But thankfully,
He had been worrying for nothing.
Ulutiel, that monster, must have been truly locked in a stalemate with Gaia Lobir, leaving her no time to care about this place.
“Let’s go home. It seems I can finally celebrate my son’s birthday at home this year.”
With a rough but affectionate smile, Shawn Ge placed a hand on his hip and turned to a subordinate who had just stepped off a helicopter.
“Xiao Jie, help me book a private flight back home. Remember, don’t tell my wife or my son. Hehe, I want to surprise them~”
However, facing Shawn Ge’s smile and instructions, the young subordinate awkwardly averted his gaze.
“……”

“Huh?”
Sensing the hesitation in his subordinate’s tone, Shawn Ge gradually lost his smile.
“What’s wrong? If there’s something, just say it.”
“Lord Shawn Ge, I’m afraid you can’t go home right away.”
“Why? Did something happen?”
“The President just issued an order to summon all Celestial Augur Knights.”
“All of them?”
The moment he heard this word, Shawn Ge’s eyes narrowed sharply. The rare moment of relaxation on his face vanished in minutes, replaced by his usual serious and grave expression.
After all, in Shawn Ge’s judgment, if something required summoning all Celestial Augur Knights……………
Then,
It definitely couldn’t be good news.
“Do you know why?”
The serious-faced subordinate didn’t answer immediately. Instead, he glanced around to ensure no one else was nearby…………………
Then, he turned off his communication device, carefully approached Shawn Ge, and leaned in to whisper in his ear:
—“The President… seems to be planning to take action against the Vassals of Earth.”—
