Volume 2, Chapter 18 – The Celestial Augur Knights’ Meeting, The Proposal of a Rescue Plan

In the central district of Clavino, the capital of the Westivian Covenant,

Inside a sealed conference room in the government building,

“……”

As the sealing barrier and the heavy metal door opened, a robust middle-aged man with an extraordinary aura walked into the conference room. The newcomer was none other than Shawn Ge, who had just returned from the northern reclaimed territories to attend the meeting.

Upon entering the conference room, Shawn Ge’s brown eyes quickly scanned the familiar faces present.

These were his colleagues, the Celestial Augur Knights he had fought alongside for many years……………… the strongest combatants of the Westivian Covenant.

At the head of the conference table sat an elderly man with white hair, looking particularly weathered. This was Lakbi, who was about to conclude his third term as president.

Although he had lost the Divine-Graced Maiden Lianna and her daughter during the operation eight years ago, by orchestrating the battle between the two Malevolences and resolving the northern crisis, Lakbi’s approval ratings not only didn’t drop but soared, allowing him to secure re-election and maintain his position as president to this day.

Facing this rare three-term president, Shawn Ge showed the utmost respect.

As a Divine Departure Realm expert, he immediately bowed respectfully to Lakbi upon entering the room.

“I’m back, Mr. President.”

“Welcome back, my dear Second Seat, Shawn Ge-Chernova. You’ve worked hard on the northern reclamation mission. I heard you’ve completed the recovery of the last border area. Well done.”

“Thank you for your praise, Mr. President.”

On the other side, seeing Shawn Ge enter alone, Greemir, who was sitting nearby, couldn’t help but show a hint of confusion in his eyes. After the conference room door closed, the newly appointed Celestial Augur Knight couldn’t help but ask:

“Senior Shawn Ge, where’s Luo Fei? Didn’t he come back with you?”

“No, he didn’t.”

Shawn Ge shook his head:

“Although Celestial Blight Ulutiel is recovering from her injuries, her Vassal-tier monsters have been showing signs of restlessness lately. Luo Fei is worried that if he leaves, the northern region will be left without a Celestial Augur Knight to keep the monsters in check, so he decided to stay.”

As he spoke, Shawn Ge turned his gaze to Lakbi,

“He asked me to apologize to the President and hopes you can understand.”

“Alright, I understand. It’s for the safety of the northern region, after all.”

Lakbi sighed helplessly.

However, it seemed he had already anticipated Luo Fei’s reaction, so he wasn’t upset about his failure to return to the capital as ordered.

Taking a deep breath,

Lakbi solemnly looked at the four people present.

“Since Luo Fei isn’t here, we can consider everyone present. Let’s get to the main topic.”

As he spoke, the screens in front of the four Celestial Augur Knights lit up, and an electronic report was displayed before them.

“This is a report I personally compiled. Take a good look, and you’ll understand why I called you back so urgently.”

Hearing this,

After exchanging glances, the four Celestial Augur Knights used their fingerprint permissions to unlock the highly encrypted document.

As the images, text, and recorded footage from the report came into view, their expressions changed drastically.

“This… this is?”

Shawn Ge’s hands trembled slightly, as if he couldn’t believe his eyes.

“Those… those two children are?”

Of course, Shawn Ge wasn’t the most emotional one—Greemir was. After seeing the footage recorded by the Astral Chalice Oculus and recognizing the two familiar children, Greemir stood up in excitement.

“Miya and Weiya!!! They’re alive!! Oh my god, they’re alive?!!”

Seeing the children he had long thought dead reappear in the records, Greemir trembled with excitement, his voice shaking with disbelief and joy.

“If Miya and Weiya are alive… then what about Ailiya? And… and Lianna?! Maybe she’s alive too!”

As he spoke, Greemir turned his excited gaze to Lakbi.

In response, the President took a deep breath and gestured for Greemir to calm down.

“Greemir, I’m not sure if Lianna and Ailiya are still alive. But since the youngest twins are alive, I can only say… there’s a good chance the other two are as well.”

“That’s great, really great.”

Greemir smiled and sat back down. For the first time in eight years… his heart was beating so wildly, more so than even when he had broken through to the Divine Departure Realm.

However,

Unlike the overjoyed Greemir, after a brief moment of shock, the blonde girl sitting next to him, wearing sunglasses, tilted her head and voiced her doubts:

“It’s indeed good news. But how did those two children survive in a place like the Veiled Domain? The area is surrounded by Corrupted Beasts…………… Besides, you all know how terrifying Terran Malevolence Gaia Lobir’s obsession with Divine-Graced Maidens is. How could she have let them live for eight years? Surviving until now………………”

“It’s not impossible.”

Lakbi said:

“After the two Malevolences clashed eight years ago, Celestial Blight was severely injured and fled. Gaia Lobir’s condition probably wasn’t much better. We haven’t detected any fluctuations of Terran Malevolence’s energy for eight years. That monster might have fallen into a deep slumber after being heavily injured. Lianna might have taken the three children and hidden during that time.”

“That’s possible.”

Shawn Ge nodded in agreement.

“But how can we be sure those two children are Miya and Weiya? Although they look similar, it’s not impossible that they’re disguised by the Vassals of Earth… Mr. President, you know how many times we’ve been tricked like this during our battles with the Vassals of Sky.”

“We can be sure.”

“Why do you say that?”

“The beam that pierced through the miasma layer was the ‘Dawn Dominion Pillar.’ And only those with Augury Force can activate that weapon.”

“The Dawn Dominion Pillar?!”

Hearing these words, Shawn Ge’s eyes narrowed, and he asked in disbelief:

“You’re saying that beam was the Dawn Dominion Pillar, the weapon created by the Alabaster Sovereign, the First Divine-Graced Maiden, and the Celestial Augur Knights of that era?”

“Yes, based on its ability to disperse miasma and emit a dazzling cross-shaped light, there’s no mistake. It’s the Dawn Dominion Pillar. It was likely placed there by the Alabaster Sovereign a thousand years ago, when that land hadn’t yet fallen, to suppress corruption. I just didn’t expect it to still function after a millennium.”

“That is indeed surprising. For those two children to appear now and activate the Dawn Dominion Pillar… enmm……

Perhaps……………… they’re asking for our help.”

“Very likely.”

Lakbi nodded noncommittally:

“But whether they’re asking for help or not, we must act. I’m sure you all understand why, right?”

As he spoke, the President’s serious gaze swept over the four Celestial Augur Knights present.

“Eight years ago, we lost the Divine-Graced Maiden and the Sacred Stone. Now that we know they’re alive and have a rough idea of their location, it’s time to bring them back.”

“You’re saying we should infiltrate the Vassals of Earth’s stronghold?”

Hearing this, the blonde girl sitting next to Greemir couldn’t help but say with unease:

“Isn’t that too reckless?”

“Not necessarily.”

Before Lakbi could respond, Shawn Ge, as the Second Seat of the Celestial Augur Knights, directly refuted the blonde girl’s words:

“In a way, it’s worth a try.”

“Senior Shawn Ge?”

“The four Divine-Graced Maidens are absolutely essential in the fight against the Malevolences. Back then, we had no choice, but now that we have a chance to rescue them, we must take it. Not to mention the Sacred Stone—it’s an absolute treasure. Additionally…………………

Staring at the report on the screen and looking at the cursed energy parameters near the area where the Dawn Dominion Pillar had erupted, Shawn Ge spoke seriously:

“After the Dawn Dominion Pillar erupted, there have been no significant cursed energy fluctuations in the area. Gaia Lobir hasn’t reacted at all. That monster might truly be in a dormant state, recovering from her injuries after her battle with Celestial Blight Ulutiel, as we speculated years ago. Otherwise, there’s no reason she would ignore the Divine-Graced Maidens for eight years.”

“As Shawn Ge said, Gaia Lobir is likely in an extremely weakened state.”

Lakbi took over, solemnly looking at the map of the Veiled Domain projected in the center of the conference table.

“Moreover, after years of recuperation, our strength is vastly different from eight years ago. Therefore, now is the best time to rescue the Divine-Graced Maidens…………… Of course, if things go smoothly, we might even eliminate a major threat to the human world.”
