Chapter 140

The original Cloud Mist Sect was a member of the Whale Alliance. After Gu Chen's Heavenly Star Sect inherited the Cloud Mist Sect's territory, it automatically became a part of the Whale Alliance.

Before the Whale Alliance envoy left, he mentioned that there would be a Whale Alliance Conference soon. Now, the invitation was in Gu Chen's hands.

In the meeting hall of the Yunyue Brothel, Gu Chen sat on the main seat and looked at the invitation in his hands thoughtfully. He tapped the table lightly with his fingers.

In the hall stood the high-spirited Yuchi Zhong, who had just come out of seclusion, and the conscientious Elder Xue Qian, Elder Wu, and the rest.

"Tell me, what's going on with this Whale Alliance Conference?"

After reading the invitation, Gu Chen raised his head and asked in a flat tone.

"Yes."

Xue Qian stepped out from the crowd and cleared his throat with a solemn expression. "Reporting to Sect Master, this Whale Alliance Conference is held once a year to redistribute the profits of the black market.

"Everyone knows that the black market is the Whale Alliance's biggest source of income. Of course, all the forces in Baijing Prefecture are fighting for this pie.

"Before the Whale Alliance was born, the forces in Baijing Prefecture were fighting each other for the huge profits of the black market. As a result, both sides suffered losses, and the external forces benefited from it.

"Later on, the Whale Alliance was established. To solve this problem, the Whale Alliance Conference was held once a year. During the conference, the distribution quota of the forces' black market for the new year will be determined. "

Gu Chen squinted his eyes. "So, this means that we must attend this conference?"

"Yes." Xue Qian nodded. "My Heavenly Star Sect's biggest source of income is the black market. If we don't attend this conference, the Whale Alliance will decide our share. Those people are greedy."

Gu Chen immediately understood the importance of this matter as it concerned the Heavenly Star Sect's income for the next year.

"How much did the Cloud Mist Sect have in the Whale Alliance's black market?"

Gu Chen asked again.

"Last year, the previous Cloud Mist Sect Master attended the conference and worked hard to get 0% of the shares for us."

Xue Qian answered immediately.

"Only 0%?" Gu Chen was stunned. Wasn't this too low?

"Sect Master, you might not know this, but there are 81 sects under the Whale League, and each of them has many subsidiary forces under them. They are involved in more than a hundred cities in Baijing Prefecture. So many forces want to have a piece of the pie. The Cloud Mist Sect only has three cities under their jurisdiction, but they have five percent of the pie. Many forces are already jealous. "

Xue Qian explained.

Gu Chen pondered for a moment. "How big is the difference in strength between the thirty-six sects? What level was the original Cloud Smoke Sect at? "

"Among the 81 sects in the Whale Alliance, the Thunder Ray Sect is second to none. The leader of the Thunder Ray Sect, Chou Feiyang, is an immortal-level powerhouse who is listed on the continent's blacklist. At the same time, he's the current chief of the Whale Alliance.

When Gu Chen heard the two words "Black List", his expression involuntarily became solemn.

This was not the first time he had heard of this term. Last time, after the body of the Man with a Bamboo Hat was discovered to be a powerhouse who had been missing from the Black List for many years, he had deliberately asked other killers about it.

The so-called Black List was a ranking list issued by the underground organizations in the Kunlun Continent for the extremely powerful and dangerous people.

There were a total of 755 names on the Black List, and almost all of those who were listed on the list were immortal-level powerhouses. Most of the rankings were occupied by the assassins of the three underground organizations, the Celestial Court, the Acheron Tower, and the Underworld God Palace.

The Gold Assassins of the Celestial Court, the Underworld Emissaries of the Acheron Tower, and the Underworld God Guards of the Underworld God Palace occupied half of the Black List.

Apart from that, the powerhouses who were listed on the Black List were all extraordinary and extremely dangerous people. After all, they could fight top assassins.

The Baijing Prefecture was a chaotic place where the Devil Sect and the Ghoul Sect ran amok. The forces there were labeled as underground organizations.

The fact that Chou Feiyang was listed on the Black List was enough to prove that he was not simple.

It was also because of his existence that the Whale Alliance was truly a deterrent to the external organizations.

"Because of Chou Feiyang's existence, the Thunder Light Sect is undoubtedly the first echelon in the Whale Alliance. They also occupy the largest share of the black market. As for the Cloud Smoke Sect, it was originally at the lower level of the thirty-six sects. Because of this, when the previous sect master died, the Whale Alliance did not place us in their eyes, and even wanted to hand us over to the Blood Refinement Sect for the sake of benefits. "

Xue Qian smiled bitterly.

Gu Chen pondered. In that case, with the Cloud Smoke Sect's existence at the bottom of the thirty-six sects, being able to have a share of five percent was already a good business.

"Then what level is the Blood Refinement Sect at?"

Gu Chen's eyes flashed.

After hearing all of this, he definitely had to participate in the Whale Alliance's meeting. Considering that he had killed a great cultivator from the Blood Refinement Sect, there would definitely be a conflict between the Heavenly Star Sect and the Blood Refinement Sect at the meeting.

"The Blood Refinement Sect originally had five Nirvana Stage great cultivators, and was ranked in the upper middle reaches of the Whale Alliance. After you killed that Qi fellow, their strength has weakened, but it is still not something that my Heavenly Star Sect can compare to.

"As Xue Qian analyzed, worry appeared in his eyes.

"Last time, the Blood Refinement Sect suffered such a huge loss. After that, we were very nervous, worried that they would come to take revenge, but we did not wait for a long time. This subordinate suspects that they are planning to make things difficult for us at the meeting of the Whale Alliance and kill us. "

"Therefore, this meeting must be a banquet at Hong Men. Sect Master must bring Fellow Daoist Yuchi along. It's a pity that Fellow Daoist Huang has yet to come out of seclusion. Otherwise, with our three great cultivators, we wouldn't need to fear them too much. "

"It's just four Nirvana Stage s."

Gu Chen was expressionless, and did not really care.

In the battle to annihilate the God Creation Pavilion, there were many Nirvana Stage cultivators who died under his hands.

His strength was much stronger than when he killed the cultivator surnamed Qi. Xue Qian did not know his background, so he was overly worried.

"I'm afraid it's not just the Blood Refinement Sect."

Seeing that Gu Chen did not think much of it, Yuchi Zhong, who had been silent the entire time, stood up and said in a serious tone.

"Sect Master, my Heavenly Star Sect has just been established, and there are many rumors about you in the outside world."

"Some people say that you are a young genius who killed a great cultivator of the Blood Refinement Sect across realms. However, there are also people who think that our Heavenly Star Sect deliberately spread the news, and that there is something fishy about the way Qi died. We are only strong on the outside, and you, Sect Master, are fishing for fame. "

"Our five percent share of the black market is a delicious cake in the eyes of the other powers, so if the Blood Refinement Sect were to make things difficult for us during the meeting, there might even be other powers that will attack us together."

"The Baijing Mansion is a place where the strong prey on the weak. As long as we show even the slightest bit of weakness in the meeting, we will be eaten until not even our bones are left. At that time, the Heavenly Star Sect might not even be able to survive."

When Gu Chen heard this, the corner of his mouth curled into a cold smile.

"Since that's the case, let's show them how strong we are. If we want to strangle the newborn Heavenly Star Sect in the cradle, we'll have to see if I agree or not."

Gu Chen's eyes turned cold, but he was still calm and unruffled.

Seeing that Gu Chen's attitude was so resolute, Yuchi Zhong's old face also flashed with the arrogance of a young man.

"Since Sect Master has already said so, no matter if this Whale Alliance Conference is a mountain of blades or a sea of fire, the Old Man will risk his life to accompany them to the end! We must let those fellows know that the Heavenly Star Sect cannot be provoked! "
