Chapter 64.2
Chapter 64.2
The knights lowered their heads at Duke Kyar with the utmost respect.
Hundreds of arrows flew toward the boundary at the same time.
The magical beasts shot by these arrows squeaked and disappeared in an instant.
Fortunately, the number of arrows fired was significantly higher than the number of magical beasts within existing boundaries.
Duke Kyar drew a relieved sigh at the sight.
“I need to rest for about five minutes.” Duke Kyar said tiredly.
“Well done, Allen. Just take a little rest before you have to suffer again. You will finally have a good rest once the royal military arrives. The wizards will be here, as well.”
“Yes. Thank god.” Duke Kyar responded before approaching Isabella.
“Didn’t I tell you not to come here, Isabella?” Duke Kyar asked her with a frown. Isabella slowly reached out to him.
“I heard about what happened. I was so worried about you that I couldn’t stay still. I missed you a lot, Your Highness. You made me so anxious.” Isabella said honestly, and Duke Kyar suppressed a smirk when she clutched onto his arm tightly.
“I was so angry when I found out that you’re coming over. But now that I see you here, I don’t think I am angry anymore.” Duke Kyar stroked Isabella’s head affectionately. “I’ve missed you too, Isabella.”
His sincere words touched her heart.
Isabella hurriedly took medicine from the box she had brought with her and gave it to him.
“You didn’t even have time to drink this, did you? Drinking this will help you, Your Highness. You have wasted too much of your energy.”
“I’m all right now.”
“Just hurry up and drink it for me, please.” She urged.
Duke Kyar nodded and took medicine into his mouth.
Isabella was regretful that she only had five minutes to talk to him.
“I will be back in about four or five minutes.”
He said as he pulled a small watch out of his pocket.
Isabella nodded at the reassurance.
“Then, I’ll just hand out these medications to the wounded knights in the meantime.”
“You should get the footmen to help you as well. You must go now, Isabella.”
“All right, but don’t you need something to eat? I have sandwiches and water here.”
Duke Kyar grabbed her hand when she tried to get the food out of her bag.
“Let’s just stay like this for the remaining minutes I have. This is more useful to me. Even better than food.”
He said while holding her hand tightly.
Isabella was relieved to find out that his body temperature was still warm when he touched her hand.
“Time flies like an arrow.” He murmured in amusement as if he liked wasting time with her.
She felt the same as well.
They were wasting time.
It became clear to Isabella how special the Archduke was to her after this experience.
But then, the cracks in the boundaries had widened even more.
Duke Kyar clenched his teeth as he watched the number of magical beasts swarming out of the holes.
“You must go home now, Isabella.”
Duke Kyar growled and released her hand.
Isabella quickly ran to Prince Victor’s side.
When she saw a magical beast approach the Archduke, she hurriedly took the bow on her shoulder and shot an arrow toward it.
The beast got struck, burning to ashes in an instant before it even had the chance to hurt the Archduke.
Isabella let out a sigh of relief.
“Wow, your archery skills are more amazing than I could have imagined,” Prince Victor exclaimed after witnessing her shots in person.
“If Isabella is still here with us, I will beat you to death, Rafael.” Duke Kyar glowered at him.
Prince Victor shut his mouth immediately.
“Go home now, Isabella.”
“Sister, you must return to Rubella Castle.” Kyle, who stood next to Duke Kyar, added.
“Kyle, you should go with Isabella, too.” Duke Kyar spoke again as he froze all the magical beasts pouring out from the cracks.
“I’m alright, uncle.”
“But I’m not alright with it, Kyle. If you like to help me, go and take care of the work I left behind! That is more useful!” Archduke bellowed.
Kyle nodded.
“Yes, Uncle.”
“Kyle.” Duke Kyar called him with gentle affection this time.
“It’s your responsibility to protect the Kyar Household when I’m not there. I trust that you can do it. You are the only other person I could rely on.” Duke Kyar said kindly, and it impressed Kyle’s young mind.
“Yes. I’ll do my best to help you in any way, uncle.” Kyle promised.
“Please take care of Isabella.”
“I will.”
Isabella looked at Duke Kyar in surprise as he kept breathing snow while having a conversation with Kyle at the same time.
He was a monster like that.
However, her anxiety also grew as the ice barriers kept increasing.
“Sister! We’re going to stop!”
As soon as Kyle approached her, black energy flowed out of the barrier and exploded at the people standing in front of it.
“We finally met, Isabella.”
A cool yet familiar voice came to Isabella’s ear as she shuddered in the dark void.
As the dark energy slithered around her, her body got sucked into the black hole at once.
As soon as she entered, the gap narrowed.
At that moment, the dark energy, that was also blocking her view of others, disappeared.
Everyone there saw Isabella’s arm being sucked into it.
“Isabella!”
Archduke Kyar shouted Isabella’s name but she had already vanished into the ring.
When there was no response in the chain she went off to, Archduke Kyar reached for his necklace and tried to teleport to Isabella’s location but he didn’t get transported and it was driving him insane.
Grand Duke Kyar gazed at the barrier that swallowed Isabella with dark solemn eyes.
“Allen.”
“Uncle.”
He didn’t even hear Duke Victor and Kyle calling for him.
He immediately pulled the sword at the side of his waist, built an ice bridge, and ran towards the high barrier.
When he arrived in front of the barrier, he threw himself towards the crack so that only one person could enter.
