Chapter 95.2
Chapter 95.2
After saying goodbye to the couple, Isabella left Arpeon Castle with Duke Kyar and waved at Seria regretfully in her carriage window.
Isabella looked away from the window when their carriage had departed, only to stare at Duke Kyar sitting across her.
He stared back at her with his lips pressed into a mulish line.
“Before the Beast Hunting Expedition–”
“Why didn’t you tell me, Isabella?”
Isabella was taken aback at his interruption.
“I’m asking why you didn’t tell me about it?”
Isabella threw a nervous glance at Duke Kyar’s gaze.
She couldn’t understand what he meant at all.
“What do you mean?”
“Are you still not going to tell me until the end?”
She felt like a criminal dragged into an interrogation room, but she still couldn’t figure out what was wrong with him.
“Isabella.” Duke Kyar’s voice was dangerously soft, and Isabella tried to smile to ease the tension.
“What is it, Your Highness?”
“I heard that Princess Seria is investing in your business.”
Finally, she figured out what was pissing him off.
Isabella was about to share some information about her business, but it appeared as Prince Victor had told him first.
“I was about to tell you, Your Highness.”
“When? After you finished building ‘Bella Pharmacy’?”
“No, I was about to confess right now. Honestly, I had dreamed of establishing my own business for so long.” She admitted.
Duke Kyar scowled.
“Princess Seria knew your dream, and I didn’t.”
“I would have given you the specifics if you just let me finish talking. I’m so sorry, Your Highness. You might think it’s too late. If you disapprove–”
He sighed heavily at Isabella’s apparent remorse.
“I was just upset that I found out about it later than Princess Seria. I just want to know everything there is to know about you. Tell me, was that too greedy of me?”
His Highness appeared wounded, and Isabella shook her head.
She reached out across her and carefully held Duke Kyar’s hand.
“No. You are right. I would have been disappointed too if I had been in your place. From now on, I’ll discuss anything with His Highness first.”
Isabella’s promise reassured him.
She caressed his hand softly and sighed.
“Be specific about this business of yours.” Duke Kyar demanded that this conversation was the only way to console his broken heart.
“I wanted to buy a piece of land near Rubella Castle and build my research institute there. I also needed a laboratory that could swiftly manufacture and mass-produce the medicine I made. I also want it to be a place where I could study and experiment with new drugs I’ll be creating in the future.”
“If I had too much land left in Rubella Castle, why would you buy the land near it? I’ll invest in your top as much as possible, so turn down Princess Seria immediately.”
Ah.
This was why she hated telling him about this beforehand because she was afraid he would do this.
She accepted his help and took advantage of him in the past.
Isabella only stayed with him in Rubella Castle due to her material desires, accepting his conditions in exchange for taking responsibility for his heart.
She wouldn’t do that this time.
All she wanted from this man was his heart.
“Your Highness,” Isabella said softly. “Don’t invest your money in my business. Being with you is enough for me. I want to be with you as your lover. Not as a business partner.” Isabella’s gaze remained on him and continued, “You might think I’m lacking, but I’ll make up for it in other areas. Teach me to love you better.”
Blushing, Duke Kyar said curtly. “You don’t lack anything.”
Isabella smiled as she opened the window to cool him off.
“Do you feel better now?”
“I was never offended. I was just a little upset. But are you sure you won’t take my offer?” He insisted, making Isabella chuckle. “If you made a research institute outside the castle, you would have to keep going there. If that happens, when am I going to see your face? Even if you don’t want my investment, just build a research institute in my castle. Otherwise, I will not approve.”
His attitude was very tough.
He stared at her sternly as if he had no plans to yield.
Isabella felt like she had to give way to this because she also wanted to see his face every day, too.
“Then I’ll stop there just to help them a bit.”
“You’re not easy to persuade.”He said, disappointed.
Isabella, who slightly lowered her head, kissed his cheek to soothe his heart.
With that sudden kiss, he stared at her and swept away his black hair.
“Do you think I’m a child?”
Isabella’s eyes widened when his large hand cupped the back of her head to kiss her lips deeper.
