Chapter 97.1
Chapter 97.1
Duke Kyar climbed the stairs without hesitation and went straight to the bedroom.
With Isabella in his arms, he opened the door himself and gently laid her down on the bed.
Isabella tried to get up but Duke Kyar immediately blocked her.
He didn’t want her to move out of his sight and go somewhere else.
Isabella’s pupils had quivered when she glanced up at him.
“I’ll wash up first. You must wait here on the bed until I’m done.” Duke Kyar whispered.
As Duke Kyar turned to walk away, Isabella stared at his back while clutching her frantic heart.
She assumed that she could only spend the first night with him after marriage.
Isabella recalled Duke Kyar informing her of his desire to remain pure before marriage.
Was that person in the past similar to who he was supposed to be now?
Was she really going to spend the night with him?
Isabella was nervous, but she didn’t exactly hate the idea.
In fact, she was excited, too.
Isabella bit her nails as she thought about the advice her friends gave her in her past life, regarding their various sexual experiences but nothing came to mind because she was too tense.
What should she do first once he comes out of the bathroom?
Maybe, she needed to wash up after him, as well.
Isabella leaped out of bed and walked toward her luggage.
She carefully held a pocket of dried petals and a new set of clothes for her to change in her arms.
She didn’t bring these dried petals specifically for their first night.
She just wanted to pamper herself because her skin deserved it.
Wait.
Why was she formulating these excuses in her head when there was no need to do that?
No one could hear how perverted her thoughts were at that moment, anyway.
Then, Isabella noticed that the window was half-open.
She hurried to the window and saw Ignis in the garden, resting on a big tree branch.
Upon seeing Ignis’ oblivious countenance, Isabella shut the windows and quickly drag the curtains to the opposite side.
Heart pounding guiltily, she muttered, “Sorry, Ignis.”
As her grip on the pocket of dried petals tightened, Isabella continued to wait for Duke Kyar to exit the bathroom.
Suddenly, the bathroom door opened.
Isabella’s blue eyes widened in shock when Duke Kyar walked out of the bathroom with a large, fluffy towel hanging low on his waist.
It was difficult to take her eyes off that wet and naked upper body.
She just can’t help but admire how beautiful those sinewy muscles on his arms and stomach were every time she saw them.
Unfortunately, the wound around his chest brought her back to her senses.
For some reason, Isabella’s heart became numb.
“Are you going to keep looking at me like that?”
With a small smile on her face, Isabella quickly lowered her head to stare at the floor and rose from the bed.
“I should wash up, too.”
Duke Kyar smiled as he watched her enter the bathroom with her clothes tightly wrapped in her arms.
Feeling nervous, he walked to the bedroom cabinet to pull out a goblet and pour the contents of the wine bottle into it but that failed to quench his thirst.
He put the goblet down on the table and poured more wine until the red liquid reached the rim.
Duke Kyar swallowed it in one gulp, without savoring its luxurious aroma and taste.
The wait seemed endlessly long.
When was she getting out of that bathroom?
**
Having no idea that Duke Kyar’s heart was anxiously waiting for her to return, Isabella sat in a marble bathtub with her dried petals scattered all over the water.
The flowers’ fragrance had relieved her tension a little bit but she couldn’t get the image of Duke Kyar’s gloriously naked form out of her mind.
He was as perfect as a Greek God sculpture.
“Why do you like his body so much?” Isabella asked herself as she recalled Duke Kyar’s broad shoulders and solid muscles.
Her body felt small and fragile compared to his.
Can she handle him?
The thought of spending the night with him made her heart pound to no end.
She tapped her pounding heart with a clenched fist and muttered. “Let’s calm down, Isabella. You must calm down.”
When she heard a knock on the bathroom door, Isabella wondered if thirty minutes had already passed ever since she sat in the bathtub.
“What is it?”
“Thank God you’re alive, Isabella! I contemplated forcing the bathroom door to open and rushing inside so that I could help you. I started getting worried when I heard no sound.” Isabella heard him growl low at the thin gap between the door and its frame. “Are you done taking a bath? You are taking so long.”
“I’ll be right there, Your Grace..”
Warmth flushed Isabella’s cheeks as she scrambled to get out of the bathtub, embarrassed that she had kept the Duke waiting for her for too long.
She could smell the scent of the flower petals around her every time she moved.
The pores on the moisturized surface of her skin must have absorbed its fragrance after soaking in the bathtub for a long time.
Isabella wiped her wet body with a dry towel, changed into the clothes she brought in the bathroom beforehand, and untied her hair.
