Chapter 103.2

At that moment, a roar of magic came to Duke Kyar’s ears.

A horseman, hiding in the swamp, flew towards the sky, and he was more significant than the previous one.

Someone cast another formidable spell, and this time, it was not one but two.

Duke Kyar had dealt with their little tricks yesterday, but it never seemed to get any easier.

His knights thought the same thing as they glanced up nervously at the two large horses above them.

The beasts’ weaknesses were their breathing holes, but their location was different for each horse.

Duke Kyar had to find them quickly.

One of the beasts flapped his enormous black wings and rushed towards the knights.

Duke Kyar exhaled cold air immediately, freezing the beast’s form for a short time.

The Knights aimed their arrows at the flying horseman and fired, but the arrowheads merely bounced back from its body as if it was made of steel.

Nevertheless, the Knights continued to attack in hopes of finding its breathing hole.

*ROAR*

The frozen beast screeched,  flapping its wings to emit its dark energy.

The knights collapsed and let out a painful groan.

Duke Kyar quickly established a colossal ice barrier around him and his Knights to ward off the beast’s dark energy.

Chaos and destruction ensued.

At that moment, a turquoise light glowed from Duke Kyar’s bracelet.

He created another ice barrier to prevent the beast’s next attack and took the bracelet off his wrist.

It wasn’t like he didn’t want Isabella to distract him in this battle.

He didn’t want Isabella to know that he was having a hard time taking control of the situation.

Isabella must not know of his struggles.

He was different than her past lover, who died.

Duke Kyar was more powerful than him.

**

Isabella recalled Duke Kyar without meaning to during the break, and she shook her head to drive those thoughts away.

Right now, the Archduke must be in the middle of a battle with the magical beasts in the dark forest.

She didn’t want to bother him by contacting him for no reason.

As she stared at the dark atmosphere outside the window, Isabella picked up the parchment from the table, where weddings in the Kyar lineage were recorded in detail.

The current Archduke’s wedding was also recorded in the same way–from the guest list and the total wedding cost.

The amount of data she had seen so far was enormous.

Maybe, it was because the Kyar bloodline had existed for three centuries.

Isabella smiled bitterly when she recalled Marc telling her she had to examine these papers within a week.

“Who cares about something this  trivial?” Isabella muttered to herself, remembering her recent lustful thoughts about the Archduke.

Honestly, she was looking forward to them spending the first night together rather than this elaborate ceremony.

Isabella enjoyed reading books about herbs immensely but poring over these wedding materials exhausted her.

The new bane of her existence lasted until dawn.

She was waiting for the right moment before contacting Duke Kyar again, but it was already dawn before she knew it.

However, she still hadn’t heard from him, and she was getting worried.

Maybe something else happened.

Isabella kept thinking of him, and she found it strange that the bracelet didn’t light up.

Their communication wouldn’t connect, and her anxiety grew even more prominent.

Fortunately, the turquoise jewel illuminated again before she drove herself insane.

Isabella sighed with relief upon seeing it glow.

“Your Highness.”

“You haven’t slept yet?”

“How about you? Are you well-rested? Tell me what happened during the battle.”

“I just got to the barracks, Isabella. And please, don’t worry too much about me. I also wanted to tell you that I’ll be taking my bracelet off during the battle, so you might not be able to contact me.”

Isabella finally understood why she couldn’t connect with him.

“So you were fighting in the dark forest all this time?”

Isabella asked worriedly and waited for his response.

However, their conversation was cut off instantly, and she had no idea what he had said.

Staring at the bracelet, Isabella focused her thoughts on him again.

The turquoise jewel sparkled, and their communication was reconnected.

“Your Highness?”

Isabella called him carefully, but he didn’t answer.

Instead, soft inhales and exhales came to her ears.

Did he just fall asleep?

Today’s battle seemed to have been very difficult.

In the meantime, Isabella was grateful to him for not forgetting to contact her.

Isabella smiled as she listened to the sound of his breathing and it calmed her anxious mind.

Before she knew it, her eyes had closed shut.

At the same time, their communication got cut off and the turquoise light of the bracelet disappeared.

“—-Bella! Isabella!” Ignis screeched.

Eyes still closed, Isabella raised both hands to cover her ears.

“Five more minutes! Just five more minutes.”

“Isabella! A strange woman is standing in front of you!”

Isabella opened her eyes at Ignis’s incomprehensible words.

Indeed, she caught sight of a middle-aged woman standing in front of the bed.
