Chapter 107.1
Chapter 107.1
Isabella stared straight into Kyle’s unwavering gaze when he looked at her properly for the first time.
She just wanted her heart to reach Kyle.
Marc cleared his throat before approaching them, and Isabella and Kyle turned their heads toward the sound.
Mark coughed low and spoke, “His Highness asked me to tell you that he would be eating in his room because he had a lot of work to do. He also wished that you spend some quality time together. He promised not to interrupt both of you like a child wanting attention.”
Isabella winced when Marc emphasized the words ‘like a child wanting attention.’
The Archduke seemed upset about what she told him earlier.
After dinner with Kyle, she thought about visiting him in his room.
“Shall we eat first?”
Momentarily puzzled by Isabella’s question, Kyle nodded.
It had been a long time since she had a meal with Duke Kyar’s nephew.
“Have some more of this.”
Isabella served lamb on Kyle’s plate since she knew it was her favorite.
Kyle raised his head and gave her a wide-eyed stare.
“Thank you,” Kyle said softly, and it pleased Isabella very much.
“You have to eat a lot when growing up, Young Master. You’re thirteen years old now, right?”
“Yes.”
“You will grow even taller when you turn fourteen,” Isabella recalled Kyle’s incredible growth as days went by when she was with him in the past.
Then, Kyle exhaled a sigh.
“I hope so. I am too small for my liking.” Kyle lamented cutely, considering himself shorter than his age.
“You don’t have to worry, Kyle. You will grow up soon.” Isabella smiled and added, “You could be taller than your great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-grandfather.”
The number of times she had mentioned the word ‘great’ must have passed over Kyle’s head, but she didn’t care as long it made a smile spread across Kyle’s serious face.
The lovely smile gripped Isabella’s heart that she had to suppress the urge to run towards Kyle and wrap him into his embrace.
Isabella asked Kyle several questions during that meal which lasted for an hour.
Kyle was meek the whole time, so the conversation didn’t run as smoothly as she expected.
But Isabella was relieved to see him let his guard down a little compared to when they met.
There was no need to rush since they still had a lot of time to improve the relationship.
Isabella and Kyle could get closer little by little.
**
After eating with Kyle, Isabella went straight to the Archduke’s bedroom.
Upon arriving in front of the door, she raised her hand and gave it a knock, but she heard no response from the inside.
Was Duke Kyar not inside his room?
As she thought about whether she should open the door with or without his permission, Isabella reached out to hold the doorknob, turned it, and slowly pushed it open.
It turned out that Duke Kyar was curled up on the sofa.
Isabella crept up to him while he was sound asleep.
She crouched in front of the sofa and peeked at his sleeping face without noise.
Was he exhausted?
It was her first time seeing him take a nap.
Yes, she was busy preparing for their wedding, but the Archduke must have been occupied with other things.
As she observed Duke Kyar frowning in his sleep, Isabella settled her palm carefully on his forehead to caress his furrowed brows.
What kind of dream did he have–to have such a deep scowl on his handsome face?
“Sweet dreams, Your Highness,” Isabella murmured.
Then, she slowly lifted her hand from his brow and raised herself.
His large hand grabbed hers, pulling her body down at that moment.
She ended up seated on her lap.
Duke Kyar had clutched Isabella’s hand tightly while the other hand curled around her waist.
Recalling that she had just eaten, Isabella sucked her stomach back in with all her might and straightened her spine.
“It’s alright, Isabella. Relax.”
“When did you wake up, Your Highness? I thought you were asleep.”
“I was awake when I felt your warm hand touch my forehead.”
Isabella noticed him grimace while he slept, so she asked, “Did you have a bad dream, Your Highness?”
He smirked at her question.
“You still could make my heart ache even in my dreams, Isabella. You don’t listen to me both in dreams and in reality.”
“Are you angry at me for some reason, Your Highness? What have I said that made you feel that way?” She asked carefully.
Duke Kyar’s shocking response was to bury his face at the back of her neck and bite her nape.
Blushing hard, Isabella’s body shrank from the goosebumps running up and down her spine.
The tickling sensation made her toes curl, and her hands clenched into fists.
“Oh!” Isabella felt a painful moan when she felt Duke Kyar’s teeth digging into her sensitive skin.
She was fortunate that her slender neck was still intact despite the deep teeth marks.
Isabella looked over her shoulder in dismay as her hand immediately covered the back of her neck.
“Your Highness. Did you just bite my neck?”
“Why? Does it hurt?”
“Of course, it hurts!”
Why would the Archduke bite people as if he were an animal?
