Chapter 286: The Car-Selling Kid

The car parked next to a luxury vehicle so polished it could double as a mirror.

Gou Yu casually kicked down the scooter’s stand and steadied it.

Beside him, Zhu Yuan had already gotten off.

She stood there with her hands behind her back, looking cute and waiting for him.

“Didn’t you say you pulled some strings to order custom clothes?” Zhu Yuan pointed beside her. “But this isn’t a clothing store, is it?”

“Just trust me. Don’t worry about the rest.” Gou Yu waved his hand.

“Honestly, I feel like your scooter parked here is going to get picked up as scrap.” Zhu Yuan pointed at his vehicle.

“What’s there to be afraid of? The Night-Shining Jade Lion recognizes its master. Even if it ends up at a recycling center, our bond will bring it right back.”

“Are you treating your electric scooter like Hachiko?”

Zhu Yuan felt like she was already past the point of being able to roast him.

Gou Yu didn’t have the energy to deal with trivial things either. He was more concerned about the custom clothes right now.

He didn’t have many options, and he knew that under these circumstances, the best clothes he could offer were custom-made.

So his outfit was ready, but Zhu Yuan’s had run into a problem.

He pushed open the door. The two greeters at the entrance bowed to him and Zhu Yuan.

Then they looked up and saw the yellow delivery helmet still on Gou Yu’s head.

“You can leave the food outside. No need to come in.”

Gou Yu, still wearing that yellow helmet, froze for a second and turned around.

“I’m not a delivery driver.” He paused, then took off the helmet. “At least not right now.”

“Alright, you two can clock out. Don’t give him a chance to act out his Twisted-Mouth Dragon King scene, or he’ll get way too into it.”

A voice from deeper inside prompted both employees to lower their hands blocking Gou Yu.

A young man in a suit—much more polished than Gou Yu—walked over.

“You came pretty fast.”

“No shit, I’m a Gold Medal Rider.” Gou Yu wasn’t focused on that. “You said there was a problem with the woman’s clothes. What is it?”

“Actually, I only found out today.” The young man had striking blue eyes—he must have been mixed-race. “After you asked me for help, I got in touch with other fashion designer friends I know and pulled all the resources I had to help you out. But due to a delay in a specific fabric, they can’t deliver today, and tomorrow’s not looking good either.”

After that long explanation, he bowed his head slightly. “Sorry.”

“So what do we do now?” Gou Yu clearly didn’t know much about this. “I have clothes, but she doesn’t. Even if it’s just an engagement banquet, we can’t be that careless, can we?”

“The only option now is to use ready-made clothes that match the color scheme of your custom outfit as closely as possible.” The man frowned. “But it won’t look as good as a set designed together. Sorry.”

Gou Yu couldn’t get mad at the other guy.

He just scratched his head.

“It’s fine. Maybe we’ll find a perfect match somehow.” Gou Yu forced a smile. “Worst case, I’ll wear my yellow and blue delivery uniforms and give her one too. That counts as a couple’s outfit.”

“Uh, actually…” Zhu Yuan raised her hand. “I do have clothes for the engagement banquet.”

Gou Yu turned around to look at her.

After a long pause, he said, “Little Bird, we don’t need to save money on this. If we need to spend, we spend.”

“No, you idiot.”

“Cursing now makes you look a little uncivilized.”

“I’m saying your sister bought my clothes.” Zhu Yuan rolled her eyes. “I picked them up yesterday.”

“Huh? How come I didn’t know?” Gou Yu tilted his head. “You’re not lying to me, are you?”

Of course, Zhu Yuan wasn’t going to let Gou Yu know she’d gotten a really nice dress. In fact, she wasn’t ready to show him yet.

When the shop assistant took a photo after she changed, Zhu Yuan specifically told her not to send it to Gou Yu. She planned to save the surprise for the engagement banquet.

Zhu Yuan glanced at the boy in front of her and handed her phone to Gou Yu.

His eyes widened slightly.

“For real?”

“You think I can photoshop this?” Zhu Yuan said irritably.

“Can you sleep in that tonight?”

“Have I been too nice to you in public? Made you forget who’s boss?” Zhu Yuan’s fist pressed against Gou Yu’s side.

“Mercy, bro.”

Gou Yu raised both hands in surrender, then looked at the blue-eyed man.

“Hey, car-selling kid. Let me introduce you. This is…”

“I’ve got enough sense for that.” The man offered a polite smile, gave a slight bow without extending his hand for a shake—very mindful of boundaries. “Hello, sister-in-law.”

“I didn’t think you’d actually have a decent network,” Zhu Yuan said.

But in her mind, this network seemed pretty questionable. Anyone who would call Gou Yu “big brother” probably had terrible judgment.

“This kid can’t compare to me, so he treats me like his big bro.” Gou Yu grinned and gave a thumbs-up.

“I really can’t compare to him. He does whatever he wants. I wouldn’t dare go Wild Survival in my whole life.” The young man gave a helpless smile.

“So you’re still a car-selling kid, not a fashion designer.”

“Well, thank you very much for remembering that after all this time.” The car-selling kid shrugged.

“Since everything’s fine, let’s grab the clothes and go.”

Gou Yu’s steps were suddenly stopped as Zhu Yuan grabbed him.

“No.” She shook her head. “Go change and let me see.”

“?”

“You’ve seen mine. I can’t see yours?” Zhu Yuan tilted her head, her tone leaving no room for refusal.

“Fine, I’ll change.” Gou Yu wasn’t about to be more embarrassed than if he had to wear women’s clothes. “Car-selling kid, lead the way.”

Their footsteps faded. Zhu Yuan found a seating area with free candy and started browsing the cars she probably couldn’t afford.

“Bro, I don’t mean to meddle in your relationship. Maybe you’ve been out of the loop too long. I know you want someone you can settle down with, but her…”

Gou Yu cut him off. “I know what you want to say. You think she’s after my family’s situation. But I can tell you, she’s not like those women you’re thinking of.”

The car-selling kid just shook his head.

He’d seen plenty of vases like her.

“Tell you what. Go find something small and expensive. After I change and come out, I’ll show you what I mean.”
