Chapter 325: Departure!

Zhu Niao had to wait until eleven, then head out to eat with the Store Manager Lady, and use the time to study cooking.

During this period, she of course wasted time without a hint of guilt, because as everyone knows, waiting technically counts as time that’s actively being spent on effort.

So no matter what she did during this time, it counted as saving time rather than wasting it.

Of course, besides scrolling through videos and playing games, Zhu Niao also took a moment to ask Gou Yu, who was out delivering food, what dishes he liked to eat.

Gou Yu’s answer was that he could cook whatever he liked himself, and he emphasized that Zhu Niao should not set foot in the kitchen.

So Zhu Niao changed her approach, telling Gou Yu she was going out to eat with her roommate and would bring food back for dinner, then asked him one more time what he liked to eat.

That was when Gou Yu spoke up, saying he liked seafood.

Of course, this came from a certain consideration. Gou Yu knew that Zhu Niao saying this meant she intended to pay out of her own pocket to prepare food he’d enjoy.

So naturally, wanting to keep Zhu Niao from spending too much money, Gou Yu picked something the two of them never bought, let alone something as troublesome to handle as seafood in the dead of winter.

That way, Zhu Niao would definitely back down, and might even curse at him for dreaming too big.

Of course, that was the old Zhu Niao.

The current Zhu Niao simply replied with a single message after receiving it: Quite picky with food.

Then she started thinking about what exactly counted as seafood.

Did seafood mean aquatic ingredients in general, or did it specifically have to be ingredients from the sea?

Gou Yu had clearly underestimated the current Zhu Niao’s sincerity.

She even opened her phone to search for food reviews, trying to find some inspiration for herself.

Then she ended up getting hungry from all the watching, so she grabbed a half-finished box of jelly from the fridge and started slurping it while scrolling.

Even the strawberry-flavored jelly seemed to carry the deliciousness of seafood.

Though the main ingredients for the seafood were pretty much settled.

No crabs, but shrimp instead. As for fish, she found the bones in fish too annoying.

After living together with Gou Yu for this long, even though he did all the cooking while she handled the shopping, Zhu Niao had almost never bought fish.

Because she wasn’t good at picking out bones, and that kind of thing was too much of a loss for her.

One bite of fish meant spitting out half a mouthful of bones mixed with the flesh, barely getting any actual fish in.

Thinking about this, Zhu Niao suddenly froze again.

Just because she didn’t like it didn’t mean Gou Yu didn’t like it.

What if Gou Yu actually really loved fish, but had been putting up with it all this time because she didn’t like it?

Zhu Niao started recalling their interactions at the dinner table.

She didn’t seem to come up with an answer, because Gou Yu seemed to eat anything without being picky at all.

That was also why she had to ask Gou Yu what he preferred to eat.

Their table always had just one or two dishes with no variety, and they had to finish everything before it went bad, or it would be wasted.

So Gou Yu never seemed to show any strong preferences in food.

Oh, there was one. He preferred white silk stockings.

Zhu Niao stood up from the sofa and stretched.

She had changed outfits. She was now wearing a white knit sweater with a black loose hoodie over it, a pleated skirt with a bit of thickness to it, the hem perfectly overlapping with the bottom of her top, plus black safety shorts about the same length as the skirt, and fleece-lined bare leg tights under the safety shorts.

And black little leather shoes paired with white calf-length socks.

She wasn’t really good at putting together outfits for going out, figuring that since her facial modeling was strong enough, she could just throw on whatever she thought looked nice and head out.

Gou Yu had clearly noticed that Zhu Niao wanted to dress up pretty for going out, but she struggled with matching clothes and was too embarrassed to say so. So he volunteered to help ease her worries.

So he put together several complete outfits, stacked them separately in Zhu Niao’s wardrobe, and whenever she remembered she needed to go out, she could just grab a set and wear it.

It was quite convenient.

Zhu Niao checked the time. Ten thirty.

So she walked into her bedroom, found the toner and lotion on the vanity, and rubbed them evenly onto her face in front of the mirror.

Winter was drier than any other season, and with the cold wind blowing a couple more times, Zhu Niao couldn’t guarantee her delicate face wouldn’t turn unsightly from dryness.

Though that had never happened before. Maybe the Probationary Goddess had been bad at filling in stats when creating her for the first time, and had accidentally maxed them out to supermodel levels.

The little cat that had followed her from the living room sofa jumped onto Zhu Niao’s lap again, startling her.

Then, Zhu Niao lifted up this little cat that hadn’t been named yet.

“Wow…”

Zhu Niao came face to face with the little cat, looking straight into its emerald green eyes.

It felt like a piece of jade, a rare treasure of the world.

Elders always said you shouldn’t look into a cat’s eyes, because they could steal your soul away.

So every time Zhu Niao was unhappy, she would stare into the cat’s eyes, both hoping and fearing that it might steal her soul.

But the Little Orange Cat was a good cat that Zhu Niao had picked up herself, and it would look away before Zhu Niao started getting scared.

But that wasn’t what Zhu Niao was focused on. What she was focused on was whether this Little Orange Cat had grown a little bigger.

At least it no longer looked like that poor little runt with malnutrition from when she first brought it home.

Just as she was about to check if the cat had the potential for a bottomless stomach, Zhu Niao’s phone started ringing.

Zhu Niao was startled, then answered the call.

It was the familiar voice of that young woman with reddish-brown long hair.

“Hey, Little Sister Zhu, are you home right now?”

“Yeah, I am.” Zhu Niao stood up, holding the phone as she walked out of the bedroom, and spotted a familiar vehicle parked outside the window.

“Then get ready to head out. We’ll eat first, then learn cooking.”

After the Store Manager Lady finished speaking, she apparently spotted Zhu Niao on the other side of the window, rolled down her car window, and waved.

Zhu Niao tidied her hair a little, then pushed open the door to meet the Store Manager Lady.

The moment they met, she couldn’t help but hug her own arms.

In the middle of winter, the young woman with reddish-brown long hair in front of her was still wearing a skirt.

Though it was a long skirt, the thinness of the sleeves made it clear it couldn’t possibly keep her warm.

Were today’s minors this tough?

“Little Sister Zhu, do you have any dietary restrictions?” The Store Manager Lady turned to ask Zhu Niao.

Zhu Niao reluctantly pulled her gaze away and hugged herself tighter.

“I don’t really have any restrictions. I can eat just about anything.” Zhu Niao considered herself pretty easy to feed.
