Volume 2, Chapter 106 – Eliminating the Root of the Problem

Qi Huang exited the inn, her divine sense firmly locked onto her target, while the pursuers behind her were just as firmly locked onto her.

Qi Huang had no intention of letting her little lamb be disturbed by others. Her divine sense swept back and forth, exposing every single one of the stalkers within a hundred zhang.

“One… two… five… ten… thirty-five…”

After carefully counting, she found there were a full thirty-five of them—split evenly between constables and cultivators.

‘Does numbers even matter? Can they outnumber the strands of my hair?’

The corners of Qi Huang’s rosy lips curled slightly. In an instant, thirty-five strands of hair shot out from her head. They were so fine and moved so fast that they were completely invisible to the naked eye.

Swish, swish, swish…

Almost simultaneously, the calves of all thirty-five pursuers were pierced. Among them were even experts at the Body Refining Realm.

The wounds were so tiny that the pursuers only realized the pain after taking several steps. But once the pain set in, it became unbearable. One by one, they crouched down, unable to walk properly—the reason was simple: their ligaments had been injured.

Having shaken off the trackers, Qi Huang cautiously followed her target. Though the target was extremely vigilant, at a distance of a hundred zhang, unless they were at the Incarnation Realm or higher, there was no way they could detect her.

Qi Huang followed unhurriedly as the target remained silent, soon leaving the small town. Half a day later, they arrived at the prefectural capital of Jinqiu.

‘Circling back here again… So this really is their hideout. No wonder there’s a mole in the government office.’

A mocking smile appeared on Qi Huang’s face. At this point, her plan was already more than halfway successful.

“Brother Fu, I’ve arrived at the prefectural capital.”

“Don’t come to me yet. Wait a couple of days to make sure you’re not being followed.”

“Understood…”

Before entering the city, the target contacted “Brother Fu” once more.

After receiving the warning, the target became even more cautious. Upon entering the city, they first sat down at a tea stall, using the time spent drinking tea to carefully scan their surroundings for any tails. Unfortunately for them, they could never have imagined that their watcher was far beyond their line of sight.

Qi Huang wasn’t in a hurry either. She sat down at a noodle shop on the adjacent street, ordering a bowl of noodles while keeping watch as she ate.

After about a quarter of an hour, the target finally got up and left, meandering through alleys, turning left and right, stopping and starting—clearly still uneasy.

Qi Huang was amused by their behavior. The feeling of having the enemy in plain sight while she remained hidden was utterly delightful, as if she held their life and death in her hands.

This went on for half a day before the target, finally convinced they weren’t being followed, entered an inconspicuous courtyard on the outskirts of the city.

To be safe, Qi Huang didn’t get too close. Instead, she sat down on the neighboring street and observed with her divine sense, quickly discerning the situation inside.

The courtyard wasn’t large—just an ordinary rural home. Aside from the target, there was no one else inside.

Qi Huang wasn’t anxious. Now that she had found the vine, would she fail to find the melon?

After entering the courtyard, the target acted normally, lighting a fire and cooking as if they were just an average person.

Knowing this would be a long-term operation, Qi Huang rented a room at a nearby inn, settling in for real-time surveillance.

Once inside, she waited for the attendant to bring washing water before eagerly unwrapping the bandages around her chest. The moment her two ample burdens sprang free, she let out a long exhale, like a drowning person finally surfacing for air.

“That was suffocating! If you’re going to feminize me, why make my body so… fertile? It’s not like I plan on having children!”

Qi Huang grumbled. This time, disguising herself as a man had made her acutely aware of just how much of a burden she was carrying.

After bathing, with nothing else to do, she alternated between cultivation and surveillance.

The Heyi Sect was the largest immortal sect in Tengda Prefecture, holding a status equivalent to the Honghua Sect in Huangtian Prefecture—except it was significantly larger, boasting four to five hundred disciples and a permanent population of over a hundred thousand. Such a behemoth was usually untouchable, but today was an exception.

Early in the morning, the Heyi Sect received visitors—ones who were far from polite, drawing vehement condemnation from the sect’s higher-ups.

These besieged guests were none other than Qin Quan, leader of the Honghua Sect, and his accompanying disciples. His purpose here was naturally to seek justice for the villagers of Bajiao Village.

“Sect Leader Qin, you are a guest, and I have fulfilled my duties as host. Yet you insist on extorting our Heyi Sect—what is your intention?”

In the grand hall, Sect Leader Lin Feng stood tall, his tone righteous and unyielding as he interrogated Qin Quan, as if he were the victim.

“Sect Leader Lin, you ordered the planting of Ghost Tomatoes, harming innocent people. This was personally confessed by your disciple Ma Wen. How is this extortion? Or are you saying he isn’t from the Heyi Sect?”

Qin Quan retorted in disbelief.

“Ma who? What Wen? I’ve never heard of this person.”

Lin Chao, Lin Feng’s son, smirked from the side.

“Indeed, Sect Leader Qin. If you think you can extort the Heyi Sect by dragging in some random person, you sorely underestimate me, Lin Feng.”

A trace of mockery flashed across Lin Feng’s face.

“Sect Leader Qin, a sect’s growth depends on strength, not scams. For a sect leader to stoop so low… I truly worry for the Honghua Sect’s future.”

Lin Chao continued, his tone dripping with sarcasm.

“You should worry about your own sect’s future first. Don’t forget, my disciple has reached the Incarnation Realm.”

Qin Quan threatened.

“Bullshit Incarnation Realm! Elder Zhou himself debunked that lie. Are you still trying to fool people? Is the Honghua Sect a cultivation sect or a den of swindlers? From top to bottom, it’s all lies!”

Lin Chao cursed outright.

“So you plan to deny everything to the end? Aren’t you afraid I’ll take this to the Immortal Alliance?”

Qin Quan frowned, his voice laced with warning.

“Do as you please. See yourself out.”

Lin Feng remained unbothered.

“Sect Leader Lin, I swear—you will pay the price you owe.”

Qin Quan spat out these final words before storming off.

“I’ll be waiting.”

Lin Feng sneered, then added insult to injury: “Oh, and one more thing—the Blue Scale Stones in Panshan Village now belong to the Heyi Sect. Honghua Sect members are forbidden from approaching. Trespassers will be killed on sight!”

Qin Quan’s steps faltered for a moment, but he ultimately quickened his pace and left.

“Overestimating yourself!”

Lin Feng spat in disdain, then turned to a burly middle-aged man beside him. “Protector Cao, take some disciples to Bajiao Village immediately. Leave nothing that breathes alive.”

“Understood!”

Protector Cao accepted the order and left the hall.

“No victims, no case. Let’s see how you fight this now.”

Lin Feng smirked coldly.

The moment Qin Quan left the Heyi Sect, he turned to a disciple beside him. “Ah Hong, head to Bajiao Village at once. Tell our disciples there to evacuate the villagers and bring them to the Honghua Sect.”

“Sect Leader, why?”

Ah Hong asked, puzzled.

“No matter how brazen they are, they can’t completely ignore the Immortal Alliance. The only way left for them is to uproot the weeds—without plaintiffs, we can’t win this case.”

Qin Quan explained.

“Why must we rely on the Immortal Alliance? Isn’t Junior Sister Hongling already at the Incarnation Realm? She alone could force the Heyi Sect to submit.”

Ah Hong still didn’t quite understand.

“All sects are under the Immortal Alliance. We’re not bandits. Avoid violence when possible, lest we give others a reason to criticize us.”

Qin Quan hesitated before giving this diplomatic answer. Internally, however, he was bitter—if only that so-called genius disciple truly had reached the Incarnation Realm, he wouldn’t be in this predicament.

“The Sect Leader’s foresight is wise.”

Ah Hong finally understood, then broke away from the group, heading straight for Bajiao Village.
