Volume 3, Chapter 171 – Want a Husband? I’ll Find You One
Qi Huang never dreamed that a mere drunkard would dare to publicly question her—a doppelgänger of the Honghua Sect’s number one genius. For a moment, she was so stunned she couldn’t react, leaving her in an awkward and humiliating position.
“How bold!” Ruan Lingyu, ever the protective one, immediately stepped forward to defend her. “Since you know who she is, how dare you speak in such a tone? Do you not realize that the Honghua Sect’s standing today is all thanks to her? Without her risking her life countless times, would you even have the luxury to stand here spouting nonsense?”
“Fairy Lingyu, I know all that”, the drunkard retorted, reeking of alcohol. “But no matter how great her contributions, she still has to be reasonable, doesn’t she? If this were about anything else, I wouldn’t dare question her even with a hundred guts. But this is about matters between men and women! Can she give Yuan Jie happiness? Can she give Yuan Jie a man? No! So why won’t she let her go?”
Qi Huang was dumbfounded. Wasn’t this guy supposed to be drunk? Why is his reasoning so sharp? Is he faking it?
“Are you sure you’re drunk?” Ruan Lingyu parted her rosy lips, hesitating before asking tentatively.
“Did I ever say I was drunk?” The drunkard shot back, punctuating his words with a hiccup. The atmosphere turned even more awkward.
He then turned to Yuan Jie’s parents. “Listen up! While I haven’t changed my mind yet, take her back now. Otherwise, don’t blame me if things turn ugly tomorrow. By then, even if she begs to marry me, I won’t want her—an old hag!”
“Old hag?” Qi Huang’s eyes sharpened like daggers.
“Don’t flatter yourself!” Yuan Jie, furious, lashed out. “Who said I’d marry you? I’m not some woman who can’t live without a man! Dignity means everything to me. Be your concubine? I wouldn’t even be your stepmother!”
“You heard her! Now scram!” Ruan Lingyu chimed in.
“Fairy Lingyu, she’s still young and reckless. Can you guarantee she won’t regret this later? If she does, can you take responsibility?” the drunkard pressed.

Ruan Lingyu bit her lip, momentarily speechless.
“I’ll take responsibility!” Qi Huang, unable to bear it any longer, snapped. “If she wants a man, I’ll find her as many as she wants!”
Whether she could actually deliver didn’t matter—right now, she just wanted to shut this drunkard up. Humiliate me? Not a chance.
The drunkard was caught off guard, left standing there awkwardly.
“R-really? Fairy Hongling, my daughter is just an ordinary woman, not like you fairies. Finding a man isn’t easy for her…” Yuan Jie’s mother asked uncertainly.
“When have my words ever been empty?” Qi Huang countered.
“Hah! Since Fairy Hongling has given her word, we can rest easy!” Yuan Jie’s parents burst into tears of joy.
“You hear that? Get lost! Any man Fairy Hongling introduces would be a hundred times better than a drunkard like you!” Empowered, Yuan Jie’s parents began shoving and cursing at the drunkard.
Unable to fight back, the drunkard could only flee while begging for mercy, much to the women’s satisfaction.
With the farce over, Ruan Lingyu sidled up to Qi Huang. “Little Junior Sister… who exactly are you planning to introduce to her?”
“Haven’t thought about it yet”, Qi Huang admitted honestly.

“You—you’re joking, right? You were just bluffing?!” Ruan Lingyu’s eyes widened in panic.
“Senior Sister, calm down!” Qi Huang pressed a pale finger to her lips in a shushing motion.
“How can I calm down? Do you know what the hardest profession in this world is? It’s not passing imperial exams to return home in glory, nor transcending the mortal realm to become an immortal—it’s being a matchmaker!” Ruan Lingyu shook her head helplessly.
“Is it really that bad?” Qi Huang hesitated.
“Think about it! Whether in the mortal world or the cultivation world, the ratio of men to women is severely unbalanced. Where are you going to find her a match? This isn’t something high cultivation can solve! In my opinion, being a matchmaker is harder than attaining immortality!” Ruan Lingyu shuddered, as if recalling past trauma.
“In the mortal world, finding a wife for a man is difficult, but in the immortal sects, finding a husband for a woman shouldn’t be… that hard, right? After all, what man doesn’t want to have his arms full of beauties?” Qi Huang mused.
“Oh? Seems like you understand men quite well!” Ruan Lingyu smirked.
“Ahem! I’m just a sixteen-year-old girl—how would I know about men? Don’t spout nonsense!” Qi Huang coughed nervously, her guilty conscience showing.
Ruan Lingyu stifled a laugh before continuing. “True, men do love having multiple wives, but two conditions must be met. First, they must be financially capable. Living expenses in the Honghua Sect are high for mortals—if he can barely support himself, how can he afford multiple wives? Second, they must be up to the task. If they’re not, why would he take on more? And even if someone meets all the criteria and wants more wives, why would he choose your maid? She’s nearly thirty, and not exactly a stunning beauty.”
Qi Huang’s heart sank. She realized now how rash her promise had been—this was the price of pride.
“Poor Junior Sister… maybe you shouldn’t go home tonight”, Ruan Lingyu suddenly suggested, her eyes glinting mischievously.

“Why?” Qi Huang blinked in confusion.
“I’m afraid Junior Sister Hongling might actually eat you alive if she finds out. With Aunt Jiang not around, no one can save you.” A look of pity crossed Ruan Lingyu’s fair face.
Qi Huang shuddered but stubbornly retorted, “Don’t worry. If I promised, I’ll deliver. I won’t make things difficult for her.”
“Stop being stubborn. Staying alive is what matters.”
“Senior Sister, I appreciate your concern, but I think my chances of survival are higher if I go back.”
“What do you mean?” Ruan Lingyu was baffled.
“Because the way you’re looking at me is terrifying—like you want to devour me yourself!” With a shiver, Qi Huang turned and fled. She did adore her senior sister, but she adored her staying alive even more.
Upon returning home, Qi Huang found her main body already preparing to leave.
“The Sect Leader has urgent matters to discuss. Do you want to come?” Cheng Hongling asked. In truth, she wasn’t sure why she even cared about her doppelgänger’s opinion.
Qi Huang initially wanted to refuse, but when she caught the faint expectation in her main body’s eyes, she inexplicably agreed.
‘She must want me to be useful!’ Qi Huang convinced herself before instructing Yuan Jie to tend to the greenhouse. She then followed her main body to the assembly hall.

By the time they arrived, all of the Honghua Sect’s higher-ups were already present.
“I’ve just received news—the Yuxiao Sect has been annihilated”, Sect Leader Qin announced gravely.
“What? By whom?” Qi Huang blurted out in shock. After all, she and her main body had extorted the Yuxiao Sect just months ago.
“Unknown. According to witnesses, it was a cat-eared girl around fifteen or sixteen years old.”
“A teenage girl? Impossible! How could she wipe out an entire sect? The Yuxiao Sect was ranked in the top five of Yongning Province, with three or four Incarnation Realm experts!”
“Didn’t you hear? She had cat ears! She’s clearly not human!”
“If she’s a demonic entity, then it makes sense. Demons’ ages can’t be judged by appearance.”
The elders buzzed with theories.
Qi Huang nodded inwardly. She refused to believe anyone more monstrous than her main body existed—to single-handedly destroy a sect like Yuxiao, one would need at least late-stage Incarnation Realm power, if not Divine Ability Realm.
“Why or by whom the Yuxiao Sect was destroyed doesn’t matter to us”, Qin Quan declared, eyes gleaming. “What matters is that the Nine Nether Demon Cat they once tamed is now masterless—free for the taking. And our Honghua Sect won’t let this opportunity slip away.”
