Volume 3, Chapter 200 – Who Said Cats Can’t Talk?
“Stay away from me! Who wants to ‘share joy’ with you?”
Qi Huang shrieked repeatedly, fleeing at full speed.
“Fellow Daoist, why be so stingy? Raising so many Nine Nether Demon Cats alone must be exhausting. Why not let this old man share your burden?”
The white-clad figure spoke with warm words, closing in like a shooting star.
“No, no, no! It’s not exhausting at all! I’m just a lowly servant who enjoys being a poop-scooper!”
Qi Huang babbled incoherently, pouring every ounce of strength into her escape. Unfortunately, her Divine Sense was already weaker, and with three sacks of treasures and two baskets of cats in tow, she could only watch helplessly as the white figure drew closer.
“Fellow Daoist, don’t stand on ceremony. Let me help you!”
The white figure was polite yet relentless, insisting on sharing her burden.
‘What do I do?’
Qi Huang panicked. She wasn’t naive enough to believe the old fox only wanted half. If he caught her, not only would she lose the Nine Nether Demon Cats, but even her last scrap of dignity would be stripped away.
“Throw away the ordinary cats. You’ll move faster.”
At that moment, a pleasant young girl’s voice rang out.
“No! If I drop them from here, they’ll all die!”
Qi Huang reflexively retorted, but the next second, her hair stood on end as she cautiously scanned her surroundings.
‘Am I seeing ghosts? There’s no one around me—who just spoke?!’
Her body turned ice-cold, her figure wobbling mid-air as she nearly plummeted.
“Fellow Daoist! Have you reconsidered? Cats are troublesome creatures to raise. Why not hand them all over and let this old man help?”
The white figure behind her teased as he closed the distance. Just as Qi Huang had feared, his ambitions were far from small.
“Who was it?! Who just spoke?!”
Qi Huang barely steadied herself before demanding fiercely—yet no one answered.

Her scalp tingled with fear, but with a pursuer hot on her heels, she had no time to investigate. She could only keep running.
After another dozen miles of desperate flight, Qi Huang was inevitably cut off by the white figure.
Upon closer inspection, she saw a horrifying old man. Though draped in pristine white robes, his appearance was anything but immortal-like. His round head bore only a few sparse hairs, his face dark and rough like tree bark, dotted with dense age spots. Deep wrinkles carved his skin like rain-eroded gullies, and his hunched frame seemed to collapse in on itself, supported only by a cane.
But most striking was the leaf-shaped Doppelgänger Mark between his brows!
‘This is just a Doppelgänger?! And it’s already this terrifying?!’
Qi Huang sucked in a sharp breath.
“To think you’re a woman! Since when did our Western Radiance Dynasty have a female Divine Ability Realm expert? May I know your esteemed name?”
The old man scrutinized her, a flicker of surprise crossing his grotesque face.
Qi Huang froze momentarily before realizing—her shoddy disguise couldn’t even fool ordinary people, let alone an expert like him.
“Since you know I’m a woman, shouldn’t you introduce yourself first? That’s what a true gentleman would do.”
She seized the chance to probe. Before fighting, she at least needed to know who was robbing her.
“This old man is Ye Donglai of the Donglai Sect! Greetings, Fellow Daoist.”
The old man gave a polite nod.
“Ye… Ye Donglai?! The Supreme Elder of the Donglai Sect, the number one immortal sect in the cultivation world?!”
Qi Huang’s almond-shaped eyes widened. Ye Donglai—one of the three Divine Ability Realm experts of the Western Radiance Dynasty, the only peerless powerhouse who had forced his sect to rename itself after him. His reputation was unmatched!
“You flatter me. Such a meager reputation is hardly worth mentioning.”
Ye Donglai clasped his hands modestly.
“What do you want?”
Qi Huang suppressed her terror as she asked.

“As I said—to share your burden!”
The old man repeated.
“You want half the Nine Nether Demon Cats?”
Qi Huang tested, secretly extending a strand of hair behind him.
“No, no, no! That was before! Now that Fellow Daoist has reconsidered, why not hand them all over?”
The old man pressed greedily.
“Keep dreaming. I won’t give you a single one!”
Qi Huang sneered.
“I’m afraid that won’t do. This old man has always been warm-hearted, and since you’re a woman, I simply must help you today.”
His tone turned forceful.
“Then let’s see if you can!”
With a cold laugh, Qi Huang suddenly pointed to the side. “Look! A flying cow!”
“Where?! Where?!”
Ye Donglai craned his neck curiously.
‘Now!’
Qi Huang’s hidden hair strand shot toward the back of his bald head like a dagger.
But Ye Donglai, as if expecting it, tilted his head calmly and dodged.
“Not bad! A very sneaky attack. But you should know—under Divine Sense, not even a strand of hair or a speck of dust can hide. Ambushes are useless against me.”
Before he finished, Qi Huang turned and bolted.

Right now, her only offensive methods were Divine Sense Suppression and her “Ghost Hair” sneak attacks. The former was useless against stronger foes, and now the latter had failed. There was no point fighting.
“Still refusing to accept reality?”
Ye Donglai snorted and gave chase.
Remembering the talismans in her sacks—tributes from various sects—Qi Huang abandoned all thoughts of profit and hurled them out in a frenzy.
Boom! Boom! Boom!
The talismans detonated mid-air, erupting into colorful spells that formed barriers between them—some weak, some devastating.
Under the bombardment, Ye Donglai slowed. Age had weakened his body; he could no longer tank attacks like in his youth.
Seizing the chance, Qi Huang widened the gap.
“Descend to the ground now. I’ll help you lose him.”
The girl’s voice spoke again.
“It’s you! I see you now—it’s you, the red-eyed cat!”
Qi Huang whirled around, pointing wildly at the crimson-eyed feline.
“So what if it’s me? Who said cats can’t talk? Do as I say if you want to live.”
The cat’s pink mouth moved, its voice undeniably human.
“Fellow Daoist, those sacks of yours hold interesting things! Why not let this old man help you with those too?”
Ye Donglai’s voice closed in again.
“Hear that? If he catches you, he’ll ‘help’ you out of your underwear too.”
The red-eyed cat mocked.
Qi Huang was numb. With the old bastard gaining fast, she had no choice. She plummeted into the dense forest below.

“Fellow Daoist! Why bother? If you can’t outfly me, running won’t help!”
The white figure descended after her, amused.
“Now what?”
The moment Qi Huang landed, she frantically asked.
“Find cover and stay still. Don’t move!”
The cat ordered.
“Will that work? Even if I bury myself three feet deep, his Divine Sense will find me!”
As she spoke, Qi Huang darted around like a headless chicken.
Just then, an ancient-looking ring floated out from one of the sacks, drawn by the cat’s Divine Sense.
“A Spatial Ring. Break its seal, store everything inside, and I’ll guarantee he won’t find you.”
The cat’s voice brimmed with confidence as it slipped out of its cage.
“A Spatial Ring?!”
Qi Huang gaped. Among the loot she’d extorted, there was actually such a treasure? Normally, she’d be dancing with joy—but survival came first.
Following instructions, she broke the ring’s seal and stored all her belongings inside.
At the same time, the cat’s body melted into a pelt that swiftly wrapped around her.
Qi Huang looked down in shock as the fur spread across her skin, morphing into an elegant black Ruqun dress.
“A Skin Mask?! Another Skin Mask?!”
She nearly died of fright.
