Volume 7, Chapter 381 – Want to Mend the Heavens? Have You Asked For My Permission?
Lu Yao sensed her surroundings and found that the Yin energy in this world was indeed far denser than in her original world, which explained why everything was shrouded in perpetual gloom.
Qi Huang grew increasingly astonished. From its cultivation system to its environment, this world was almost a mirror image of the immortal cultivation realm she came from, only the names were different.
“But those cracks in the sky seem to be slowly healing… or maybe my old eyes are failing me.”
The elderly woman sighed with a hint of worry.
“They are healing,” Lu Yao confirmed.
As the one who had caused them, she knew better than anyone.
“Ah, what a pity! If only it could absorb all the Yin energy in this world before sealing up completely…”
The old woman’s eyes held a trace of hope.
Lu Yao remained silent, her expression thoughtful.
“Young lady, you shouldn’t wander around outside like this. The world is full of lost souls and wild ghosts. Aren’t you afraid?”
The old woman kindly advised, completely unaware that the girl standing before her was an extremely terrifying zombie maiden.
Lu Yao thanked her politely before leaving the village alone.
She walked aimlessly, occasionally glancing up at the massive cracks she had torn open in the sky. Because they were far from this particular world, the visual effect wasn’t as exaggerated as in her original world. They resembled ordinary solar halos, hanging silently in the western horizon.
A sudden question arose in Lu Yao’s mind:
‘Why was it so easy for me to shatter the void in my original world, yet nearly impossible here? If the two worlds are connected, shouldn’t the spatial barriers be the same? It makes no sense for their strength to differ just because I’m in a different place.’
Unwilling to accept this, Lu Yao extended her razor-sharp claws and slashed at the air in front of her.
But like a blade slicing through water, the space only rippled slightly without a single crack appearing.
“How strange!”
It was as if she had been in Room A, where she could easily kick down the wall to enter Room B. Yet now, in Room B, the same kick didn’t even make the wall tremble.

“Could it be that the spatial barriers here vary in strength? Maybe only the areas near the cracks in the sky are connected to my original world, making them more fragile!”
To test her theory, Lu Yao gathered all her strength and unleashed several terrifying crescent-shaped energy blades toward the massive fissures in the western sky.
The blades soared upward, slicing through the air with an ear-piercing screech.
RIIIP!
When the energy blades struck the cracks, they tore through like scissors cutting fabric, creating several new black gashes in the sky.
‘Just as I thought.’
Now she understood.
Qi Huang was equally stunned by this bizarre phenomenon. It turned out the two worlds were only connected in that one place.
“If that’s the only passage back to my original world, then where would shattering the void elsewhere in this world take me? Are there other realms beyond this one?”
Lu Yao murmured to herself.
She continued walking without direction until she eventually arrived at a bustling prefecture. After a brief moment of consideration, she entered. Since her original world was no longer safe for her, she would have to stay in this one for now, which meant finding a place to live.
As she passed through the city gates, she was met with crowded streets filled with bustling activity and heavy Yang energy. But for a zombie of her level, such an atmosphere had no effect.
Lu Yao wandered aimlessly, noticing that the people around her were unusually excited, all discussing the new cracks she had just created in the sky.
“Haha, the heavens truly have eyes! I was worried those cracks were healing, but now there are even more!”
“Exactly! At this rate, the Yin energy will soon be completely drained, and those wandering ghosts will vanish. We’ll be free to go wherever we want!”
“Why go anywhere else? Why not just return to the countryside and farm? Better than staying in the city and enduring our boss’s temper!”
The people chattered eagerly about their future.
“‘The heavens have eyes’? No—I was the one who forced them open.”

Lu Yao frowned slightly before finding an inn to stay in. The money she used had been looted from the bandits she had killed earlier.
Once inside her room, she immediately focused her senses, listening intently to everything around her. Due to her overwhelming strength, her perception was even sharper than the divine sense of most cultivators.
Before long, she picked up an important conversation from the neighboring luxury suite, several wealthy merchants were deep in discussion.
“Ah, the heavens are truly blind! How could such massive cracks just appear out of nowhere? All the Yin energy is being sucked away!”
A fair-skinned, beardless merchant sighed in distress.
“Isn’t it good that the Yin energy is disappearing? It’s been freezing all year round, unbearable for old folks like us!”
An elderly man with white hair and beard retorted.
“Lord Wang, it’s easy for you to say! The weather doesn’t affect retired officials like you who still live off the court’s stipends. But what about us merchants? Once those ghosts stop blocking the roads, the poor will go wherever they please. Who’ll buy our goods then?”
The fair-skinned merchant shook his head helplessly.
“Brother Jin, you’re being too optimistic. Once those peasants can sustain themselves by farming, why would they travel? Haven’t you noticed the days are getting longer and the climate warmer?”
A middle-aged man with a goatee chimed in.
“Brother Zhang is right. The disappearance of Yin energy will be the death of us merchants.”
The merchant surnamed Jin agreed.
“Don’t be so disheartened, my friends. Small profits but quick turnover, that’s the way!”
The retired official named Wang tried to console them, though the smirk on his face made it seem more like mockery.
“Lord Wang, you should worry about yourself first. All those young, beautiful maids in your mansion, do you really think they stay willingly? It’s only because the countryside is uninhabitable! Once the ghosts are gone, they’ll flee back home. How will you enjoy your ‘left embrace, right hug’ then?”
Jin’s words were sharp.
“They’re all damaged goods anyway. Who in the countryside would want them? Besides, isn’t staying in my mansion better than suffering in poverty?”

Lord Wang feigned composure.
“Lord Wang, don’t lie to yourself. The bachelors out there would marry even a widow with children, let alone ‘damaged goods’. And how do you know none of those maids value their dignity? Being a poor man’s wife is still better than being a servant in your house. Even if just one leaves, it’s still a loss for you, no?”
Jin ruthlessly exposed his hypocrisy.
‘How despicable! This is exactly what they mean by ‘the rich are heartless’.’
Qi Huang seethed with anger.
Lord Wang fell into thought before reluctantly admitting, “You’re right, Brother Jin. My perspective was too narrow. But what can we do? We’re just mortals, we can’t mend the cracks in the sky!”
“No need to worry, Brother Wang! If we can’t do it, the immortals who soar through the skies certainly can. I’ve heard the Immortal Alliance is already preparing to mend the heavens.”
Jin reassured him.
‘This world has an Immortal Alliance too? What a coincidence.’
Qi Huang wasn’t surprised.
“The Immortal Alliance? But isn’t the disappearance of Yin energy good for them? They’ve always been enemies of those evil spirits!”
Lord Wang was puzzled.
“Lord Wang, haven’t you heard the saying ‘mourn for the hare, for the hound will be next’? How do cultivators make money? By exorcising evil and selling residency rights in their sects! Once the ghosts vanish, where will their income come from? So they must repair those cracks.”
Jin explained.
“You make a good point. But doesn’t that mean they’re working against ordinary people?”
Lord Wang was shocked.
“That’s why this is top secret. I only learned of it from a cultivator friend. Don’t breathe a word of this, or we’ll all be in trouble.”
Jin warned gravely.

“Of course, of course!”
The wealthy men nodded frantically.
‘So the Immortal Alliance here is just as shameless?’
Qi Huang’s disdain for the alliance grew.
“But Brother Jin, those cracks are unfathomably high. Can cultivators really fly that far?”
Lord Wang voiced his doubts.
“Lord Wang, you’re showing your ignorance. The most powerful cultivators are like gods, they can traverse through worlds. This is nothing to them. The Immortal Alliance will gather them at their headquarters in five days to make arrangements.”
Jin explained patiently.
“Good! Let’s hope they fix those cracks soon!”
Lord Wang prayed silently.
“Want to mend the heavens? Have you asked me first?”
Lu Yao slowly rose to her feet before vanishing from the inn in a flash.
Those cracks in the sky were her declaration of war against the heavens, no one was allowed to repair them.
Anyone who tried would die.
As she flew out of the city, her veil slipped away.
The vortex in her heart began to spin faster, drawing in endless Yin energy.
Her power surged once more.
