Volume 7, Chapter 382 – The Golden Corpse Mother

Atop a mountain peak, Lu Yao stood as the world’s Yin energy surged toward her like a raging flood. At this moment, she resembled a dam holding back a deluge, her strength visibly skyrocketing at an astonishing rate.

Qi Huang watched with envy. Though her own cultivation journey could be considered cheat-like, compared to Lu Yao’s, it was insignificant. Perhaps this was the reward for trading one’s life for power.

The speed at which Lu Yao absorbed Yin energy was so terrifying that within a radius of several miles around her, all life had withered away. Every living creature had been corroded by the visible waves of Yin energy, leaving behind only the malevolent spirits drawn to the area. Yet, regardless of their strength, none dared approach. They lingered miles away, trembling in fear.

Three days later, Lu Yao’s power once again brushed against the limits of this world. Every slight movement of hers caused spatial distortions. To avoid unnecessary complications, she ceased absorbing Yin energy. Even so, the dense Yin energy she had summoned lingered in the surrounding mountains, refusing to dissipate.

“Hm?”

At that moment, Lu Yao suddenly sensed a group of people approaching from over ten miles away.

Qi Huang, whose consciousness was currently attached to Lu Yao, also sensed them. A group of men and women dressed in matching uniforms, wielding standardized longswords. They clearly belonged to the same sect.

“Everyone, be alert. The number of wandering spirits around us is increasing, and the temperature keeps dropping. It seems an anomaly has indeed occurred here.”

The leader, a stout elder in plain clothes, issued a warning.

“Understood, Elder Huang!”

The young disciples behind him responded respectfully.

The group pressed forward, but as the Yin energy thickened, the temperature plunged below freezing, forcing them to circulate their True Qi to resist the cold.

“Halt!”

Elder Huang suddenly raised his hand.

The disciples tensed, glancing around in confusion.

A moment later, a series of thunderous rumbles echoed from the darkness ahead, followed by rhythmic tremors in the earth.

“What… what is that?”

Sweat beaded on the disciples’ foreheads as they exchanged nervous looks.

“I don’t know. The Yin energy ahead is too dense, it’s severely obstructing my Divine Sense.”

Elder Huang’s voice trembled slightly.

Crack! Snap!

Suddenly, the branches above them splintered with crisp snaps. The group barely had time to look up before several massive boulders, each several meters in diameter, came crashing down, accompanied by a terrifying howl.

“Damn it!”

Elder Huang’s expression darkened as he swiftly pulled out a talisman and threw it into the air.

The talisman exploded midair, instantly forming a dome-shaped earthen barrier above them.

Bang! Bang! Bang!

The boulders smashed into the barrier, producing dull thuds. Cracks spiderwebbed across the protective shield before it finally shattered, but not before fulfilling its purpose, blocking the deadly rocks.

Elder Huang wiped cold sweat from his brow. Without that talisman, even with his high cultivation, he wouldn’t have been able to react in time.

The young disciples paled, realizing they would have been crushed to paste without Elder Huang’s intervention.

Crack! Snap!

Before they could even catch their breath, several massive trees ahead toppled over, revealing a towering demonic figure, two zhang 1 1 zhang = 3.3 meters/~10.8 feet tall, lumbering toward them.

“Heavens!”

Elder Huang’s face twisted in horror as he got a clear look at the creature.

It was a colossal female zombie.

Bald, her facial features drowned in folds of fat, her enormous breasts swayed like round tables with each step, sending waves of grotesque flesh rippling. But the most horrifying part was her stomach, swollen to nearly the same diameter as her height, with countless handprints and footprints pressing against the stretched skin, as if something inside was struggling to burst free.

“Dammit! A Golden Corpse Mother! Why is she here?!”

Elder Huang’s voice was filled with despair.

Qi Huang, observing through Lu Yao’s senses, noted the female zombie’s skin bore a dark golden hue, something she understood all too well.

“Run! Get out of here, now!”

Elder Huang screamed at the disciples behind him.

But they were frozen in terror, unable to move.

ROAR!

The monstrous female zombie suddenly split her mouth open, her jaws tearing all the way to her ears, as a flood of black, putrid blood gushed out like a ruptured dam, transforming into a raging river of corruption that devoured everything in its path. Flowers, grass, trees—all dissolved instantly.

Worse, within the black blood, countless tiny zombies—each no larger than an infant but with silver-white skin, marking them as Silver Corpse-level entities—thrashed and shrieked like ravenous beasts.

Qi Huang’s heart pounded. A malevolent entity of this caliber could single-handedly bring ruin to an entire nation in the mortal world. Yet, it had been drawn here by Lu Yao’s presence.

Elder Huang’s face drained of color. Knowing survival demanded desperate measures, he gritted his teeth and leaped into the air, channeling every last drop of his True Qi into his sword before slashing downward.

BOOM!

A blazing crimson sword beam tore across the earth, carving a massive fissure, ten zhang long and one zhang wide.

The putrid blood crashed into the chasm, momentarily halted.

Panting, Elder Huang looked up and saw the Golden Corpse Mother still spewing endless filth, like an open gate to the underworld.

He knew the fissure wouldn’t hold for long.

“Run, damn it! What are you waiting for?!”

The disciples finally snapped out of their stupor, scrambling away in panic.

Yet, even as they fled, Elder Huang refused to abandon them, covering their retreat with frequent glances backward.

Qi Huang was surprised. She hadn’t expected Elder Huang to possess such unwavering integrity, unwilling to leave his disciples behind.

True to his fears, within ten breaths, the chasm overflowed, and the black tide resumed its advance.

Elder Huang knew terrain was his only advantage now. Dropping to one knee, he slammed his palm onto the ground, unleashing a wave of fire-attribute True Qi that ignited the surrounding vegetation, rapidly raising the temperature.

His strategy worked. The corrupt blood hissed as it evaporated in the flames, the tiny zombies inside screeching in agony.

ROAR!

Enraged, the Golden Corpse Mother charged like a living mountain, each step shaking the earth. After a few strides, she curled into a massive flesh-ball and rolled forward with terrifying speed, her overwhelming Yin energy extinguishing the flames in her wake.

The tiny zombies, ecstatic, leaped back onto her body, merging into a single monstrous mass that barreled toward Elder Huang.

“My life ends here!”

Elder Huang stood frozen in despair. At only the Incarnation Realm and with his True Qi nearly depleted, he had no hope of stopping the abomination before him. He could only watch as death rolled closer.

Then—

Lu Yao moved.

In an instant, she appeared beside Elder Huang. With a casual swipe of her clawed hand, she tore open a pitch-black spatial rift.

The Golden Corpse Mother had no time to react. Along with her brood of tiny zombies, she tumbled into the void without so much as a splash.

Elder Huang’s eyes bulged in disbelief.

‘Shattering space… Is this something a human can actually do?!’

It took him several seconds to regain his senses.

“T-Thank you, Senior, for saving us!” he stammered, bowing deeply.

Lu Yao did not respond. Instead, she slowly turned to face him, revealing her crimson eyes, blood-streaked tears, and razor-sharp fangs.

“Y-You… You…!”

Elder Huang’s soul nearly fled his body as he stumbled backward in terror.
