Volume 7, Chapter 404 – Second Round Draw (Part 3)
“Reporting to Sect Leader Li, we drew the Fengyuan Sect.”
Qi Huang answered truthfully.
“Fengyuan Sect? Isn’t that a sect from our Yongning Prefecture? With your cultivation level, defeating them shouldn’t be difficult. Why would you want to switch lots?”
Sect Leader Li was no fool, and his expression immediately turned wary.
‘Damn it, I’m giving you an advantage, and you still ask so many questions.’
Qi Huang cursed inwardly, but her face remained unchanged as she continued lying: “It’s like this, we have some ties with the Fengyuan Sect. Eliminating them would hurt our relationship, so we’d like to switch lots. Of course, the condition is that the opponent shouldn’t be too strong.”
“Oh? So that’s how it is!”
Sect Leader Li suddenly understood. After a brief pause, he said, “Disciple Qi, I’d like to help you, but this concerns the future of our entire sect. Would you allow us to discuss it first?”
“No problem! Take your time!”
Qi Huang generously gestured for him to proceed.
“Don’t worry, it won’t take long. Please, don’t leave! Don’t go anywhere!”
Sect Leader Li nervously urged before pulling Elder Huang aside to whisper.
Qi Huang didn’t use her divine sense to eavesdrop, not only would it be impolite if caught, but she could already guess what they were discussing. They were surely debating whether her words were true or false.
A short while later, Elder Huang left the group, clearly going to verify the information.
Meanwhile, Sect Leader Li returned and continued chatting with the female disciples of the Honghua Sect, while the male disciples occasionally chimed in, obviously trying to win the favor of these beauties.
Sect Leader Li didn’t stop them, he needed to buy time.
Not far away, Xu Mei observed in secret. She hadn’t joined them to avoid raising suspicions.
Fifteen minutes later, Elder Huang returned, his face flushed with excitement. He must have received good news.
Sect Leader Li eagerly approached him, and the two whispered again.
“Really?”
Sect Leader Li’s face quickly lit up with delight, and he hurried back. “Disciples, we’re willing to switch lots with you!”
“In that case, many thanks for Sect Leader Li’s generosity.”

Qi Huang, slightly impatient, handed over the lot slip, and the exchange was successfully completed.
“How could these foolish women be so stupid? They didn’t even bother to investigate before switching lots!”
“Right? If the Qingshan Sect had really drawn a weak opponent, why would they agree to switch?”
“Now there’s going to be a good show. If I remember correctly, wasn’t Cheng Hongling eliminated by the Haizhi Sect last time? History might repeat itself.”
Just then, faint mocking voices could be heard nearby.
Qi Huang ignored them and immediately left with her companions.
“Master, it’s done.”
Qi Huang reported to Xu Mei.
“Why did it take so long?”
Xu Mei was puzzled. In her view, such a favorable offer should have been accepted immediately.
“Sect Leader Li is a sly old fox. He was afraid I was lying, so he sent someone to verify whether the twenty fourth lot was really the Fengyuan Sect. If it had been Sect Leader Qin, he probably wouldn’t have even entertained the discussion.”
Qi Huang couldn’t help but curse.
“Exactly! We’re giving him an advantage, and he still drags his feet. What a coward.”
Shen Yuan chimed in from the side.
“There’s no helping it. For small sects like theirs, the Evergreen Conference is their only way to obtain resources. As a sect leader, it’s understandable that he’d be cautious.”
Xu Mei explained.
“Hmph! With their strength, no amount of caution will get them past the next round.”
Shen Yuan scoffed disdainfully.
“Alright, since the matter is settled, let’s go.”
Xu Mei smiled faintly and led her disciples back to the Honghua Sect’s group.
But just then, that Lü Er started causing trouble again.
“What’s wrong? After waiting so long, has no one asked who drew number six? Do you need this young master to find out for you?”

Lü Er even jumped onto the stage, pointing and commanding as if he owned the place.
Most of the cultivators below wore fearful expressions, not daring to meet his gaze.
“No one’s speaking? Then I’ll take that as confirmation. Who drew number six? Number six, get the hell out here!”
Lu Er arrogantly demanded.
“Here!”
Before his voice faded, an old man’s voice answered from below.
“Heh, didn’t expect you to be so obedient, old man. State your sect.”
Lü Er smirked mockingly.
“Reporting, I am the sect leader of the Kangning Sect from Wanshou Prefecture.”
The old man replied respectfully.
“Kangning Sect? Never heard of it. Do you have any Incarnation Realm geniuses?”
Lu Er asked, still holding onto a sliver of hope.
“No, our strongest genius is only at the early Unity Realm. I hope you’ll go easy on us, young friend.”
The old man answered truthfully, knowing that lying would only provoke this fiend.
“Early Unity Realm? With such weak strength, you still dare to participate in the Evergreen Conference? This young master wanted to show off in front of his future concubine, but you’ve ruined the mood!”
Lu Er grumbled in displeasure.
“Concubine? Who’s he talking about?”
The cultivators below exchanged confused glances.
Hearing this, Qi Huang instinctively felt a sense of foreboding, she had encountered similar situations before.
“Kangning Sect, was it? I said I’d cure all the sects here of their cultivation addiction. I’ll give you a chance to switch lots, otherwise, you’ll be the second to fall!”
Lu Er threatened before jumping off the stage.
The old man from the Kangning Sect wore a helpless expression. He would love to switch, but who would willingly face this demon?

After jumping down, Lu Er didn’t leave. Instead, he walked toward the Honghua Sect’s direction.
“What does this bastard want now?”
Qi Huang’s unease grew stronger.
Cheng Hongling didn’t answer, her beautiful face twisting further in disgust.
“I wanted to show you my skills, but I ended up drawing a weakling sect. How disappointing. But it’s fine, lots can be switched.”
Lu Er spoke to Cheng Hongling as if no one else was there.
Cheng Hongling didn’t respond, turning her face away in revulsion.
‘So she’s being targeted again, huh?’
Qi Huang sighed inwardly. That face really was nothing but trouble.
“Go on, tell me, who do you want eliminated? This young master will fulfill your request.”
Lu Er continued.
“No need. If we want someone eliminated, we’ll do it ourselves. We won’t trouble you.”
Qi Huang politely declined.
“Not bad, you’ve got some spirit. I like that! Pity your cultivation is only at the Incarnation Realm’s second layer.”
Lu Er’s face showed regret.
“You talk big, but I wonder. What’s your main body’s cultivation level?”
Qi Huang seized the chance to counter.
“Main body? You should worry about my current cultivation first.”
“Is that necessary?”
“Of course it is. Can you be sure I’m not hiding my strength?”
Qi Huang laughed at this and retorted, “Then can you be sure I’m not hiding mine?”
“Oh? Then I’ll be waiting to see. Don’t disappoint me! Of course, even if you get eliminated, it’s fine. Once you enter the Lü family’s gates, resources won’t be an issue.”

Lu Er left behind these cryptic words before swaggering off.
“Junior Sister, it seems that guy has taken a liking to you!”
Ruan Lingyu said worriedly.
“And I’ve taken a liking to you, Senior Sister! But does that matter?”
Qi Huang immediately fired back.
“It does! Just say the word, and I’ll warm your bed tonight!”
Ruan Lingyu’s eyes turned sultry.
“Us too! We’re willing as well!”
The other senior sisters clamored eagerly.
Qi Huang was overjoyed, but one glance at her main body’s displeased expression made her reluctantly give up.
“Could that guy’s ‘future concubine’ be Cheng Hongling?”
“Most likely. This is the second time he’s approached her.”
“Hah! He mocks our Western Province for having no talent, but no matter how strong he is, he still ends up groveling for a local female cultivator.”
“How laughable. Who does he think Cheng Hongling is? Even the current emperor couldn’t get a single word from one of her clones. Did he really think an ordinary cultivator could have her?”
“This kid’s arrogance knows no bounds. Let him crash into this wall, maybe then he’ll learn his place.”
Whispers rose and fell around them.
Before long, news spread that the Honghua Sect had been tricked by the Qingshan Sect. Everyone gloated, eagerly awaiting a repeat of history.
“Elder Zhou, should we still switch lots? The Haizhi Sect recruited an Incarnation Realm third-layer outsider, and their own geniuses are elites. That should be enough to send Cheng Hongling packing.”
In the Huxiao Sect’s ranks, Lu Zhen sought Elder Zhou’s opinion.
“Heh, what a bunch of fools. Since someone else is doing the work for us, why waste our energy? Let’s just enjoy the show.”
Elder Zhou’s face twisted into a smirk.
