Volume 7, Chapter 444 – I’ve Been Waiting for You
In truth, even without Pan Lin’s wife recounting her husband’s “glorious achievements”, the mottled bloodstains on the torture instruments alone told Yaoyao exactly what kind of atrocities this man had committed against her kin.
Yaoyao’s first instinct was to rush over and tear Pan Lin to pieces. But thinking of her captive kin, she forced herself to suppress the fury burning in her chest. The crimson glow in her eyes gradually dimmed.
‘I’ll let you live one more night. Consider it as repayment for your wife’s kindness.’
She bit her cherry-red lips and muttered under her breath.
The night passed without incident. The next morning, Yaoyao rose unusually early and deliberately washed up in the courtyard, even leaving her veil off.
Madam Pan soon woke as well. The moment she stepped out of the main hall, her gaze landed on Yaoyao’s exquisite face, and she froze, not out of surprise, but sheer shock.
Yaoyao, feigning panic, clumsily pulled her veil back on, her acting skills honed to perfection under Qi Huang’s tutelage.
Madam Pan’s expression darkened instantly. With an aura of menace, she strode forward and demanded, “My husband said you had a birthmark on your face. Where is it?”
“Uh…”
Yaoyao didn’t bother lying. Instead, she fidgeted guiltily with her sleeves.
“Speak! Why did he bring you here?” Madam Pan pressed relentlessly.
“I-I’m sorry, Madam! I didn’t mean to deceive you… but I had no choice!”
Yaoyao then launched into a tearful explanation, spinning a tale designed to expose Pan Lin’s true nature to his wife.
Madam Pan’s face flushed red with fury, her breathing growing ragged. Never in her wildest dreams had she imagined her husband could be so shameless, hiding a mistress right under her nose! And to think she had been fussing over this little vixen like a fool!
“Madam, I swear I never wanted to be Master’s concubine or ruin your marriage. But if I disobeyed him, I’d be thrown onto the streets. With all the evil spirits roaming outside these days… I wouldn’t survive.”
Yaoyao continued pouring out her “misery”.

“Huff…”
Madam Pan teetered on the edge of explosion, yet inexplicably, she swallowed her rage and turned away in silence, as if nothing had happened.
‘She can endure even this?’
Yaoyao was taken aback. But she had done her part. Her conscience was clear.
Soon after, Pan Lin himself emerged, blissfully unaware of the morning’s drama, his face plastered with a smug grin.
Madam Pan didn’t expose him. As pathetic as it felt, she had no choice. In a sect where women outnumbered men, confronting him would only hurt her, not the little vixen.
After breakfast, Pan Lin slung a bag over his shoulder and set off, rubbing his hands in anticipation.
Yaoyao didn’t need to peek inside to know what that bag contained. She immediately extended her divine sense, locking onto him like a shadow. She wouldn’t let this beast harm another hair on her clansmen.
Pan Lin headed straight for a stone cave in the back mountains. Flashing his Cultivator’s waist token to the guards, he strode inside unhindered.
The cave’s interior was vast, heavily guarded, and riddled with traps. Barred cells lined the passageways, each crammed with grotesque, writhing evil spirits. Though suppressed by the countless talismans plastered on the walls, their howls of defiance filled the air.
Even so, the dungeon was thick with oppressive yin energy, a suffocating darkness that weighed on the soul.
The sight stirred memories of Yaoyao’s own imprisonment in the Yuxiao Sect’s dungeons. The resemblance was uncanny.
Pan Lin, unfazed, marched deeper until he reached the end where a massive stone door stood, guarded by four disciples. Whatever lay beyond was clearly of great importance.
Yaoyao attempted to probe the room with her divine sense, only to discover a protective talisman on the door, radiating a barrier that shielded the entire chamber.
She intensified her spiritual pressure, pushing to the peak of the Incarnation Realm, yet the barrier held firm.

‘A Divine-grade talisman.’
At once, she knew who had crafted it. Not wanting to alert the enemy, she withdrew.
“Senior Brother Pan, you’re early. The shift hasn’t started yet,” greeted one of the young guards.
“No matter. You’ve been standing watch for days now. Even cultivators need rest,” Pan Lin replied kindly.
“Many thanks, Senior Brother!”
The disciple bowed and hurried off, relieved.
Pan Lin set his bag down and took up the guard post.
Watching this, Yaoyao was certain, her kin were inside.
“Found you at last.”
A faint smile curled her lips as she turned and left. But first, she decided to confirm Ye Donglai’s whereabouts with Qi Huang in Yongning Province.
When Qi Huang sensed Yaoyao’s contact, her first thought was that something had happened to the Honghua Sect. She hastily grabbed the Thousand-Mile Communication Tube.
“Relax, the Honghua Sect is fine! I just need to confirm, is Ye Donglai still in Yongning?” Yaoyao cut straight to the point.
“Yes. His personal disciple is severely injured. He won’t be returning anytime soon.”
Qi Huang answered instinctively, then tensed. “Why do you ask? You’re not planning to target Donglai Sect’s Nine Nether Demon Cats, are you?”
“Exactly. I’m at Donglai Sect now. Moving in.”
Yaoyao admitted freely.

“What are you doing? You promised to protect the Honghua Sect! If you want to save your kin, can’t you at least wait until I’m back?”
Qi Huang’s voice rose in frustration. The Evergreen Conference was at a critical juncture, she couldn’t leave now.
“Relax, my sister’s still there. Don’t forget, she’s also at the Incarnation Realm. Guarding a minor sect like Honghua is child’s play for her.”
Yaoyao brushed her off. “Enough talk. I’m making my move.”
With that, she severed the connection and strode toward the back mountain dungeon, her veil ensuring she drew little attention.
At the cave entrance, she ignored the guards and stepped forward.
“Halt! No unauthorized entry!” A disciple gripped his sword hilt. “One more step, and we will act.”
Had she not appeared to be a young girl, he would’ve struck already.
Yaoyao walked past them as if they were air.
The guards’ bodies began trembling uncontrollably. Their eyes bulged, veins bursting as if they’d seen a ghost—
Then, like fireworks, they exploded into clouds of blood mist.
Yaoyao strolled deeper, her aura perfectly concealed. To any observer, she was just an ordinary girl. Yet everything in her path, be it guards, traps, even the talismans, crumbled to dust under the crushing weight of her Divine Realm divine sense.
The dungeon fell silent. The guards were dead. The evil spirits, though freed from suppression, cowered in their cells, too terrified to flee under her overwhelming presence.
Unhurried, Yaoyao reached the dungeon’s end.
“Who are you?” The three remaining guards stepped forward warily, swords drawn.

Pan Lin blinked in confusion. Why was she here?
Before he could explain, his three comrades detonated without warning, reduced to bloody mist, clothes and all.
Pan Lin stumbled back, eyes wide with horror.
“Y-you… What are you?” he stammered.
“For your peace of mind in death.”
Yaoyao removed her veil. Fangs sprouted from her lips. A pair of furry cat ears rose atop her head. Her pupils slit into crimson vertical crescents.
“A—a cat demon!” Pan Lin’s sword clattered to the ground as he pressed against the stone door, trembling.
Yaoyao’s pupils contracted slightly.
Pop.
Like an overripe melon, Pan Lin burst apart, his life soul extinguished.
With a flick of her divine sense, Yaoyao summoned a torch from the wall and set the Divine-grade talisman aflame. As the barrier dissipated, she kicked the stone door open—
And froze.
The chamber was empty save for a white-haired figure seated cross-legged on a cushion at its center.
“I’ve been waiting for you.”
The figure spoke slowly, lifting its head.
