Volume 8, Chapter 468 – Yaoyao, Where Are You?
Translator Note
This chapter has no title for some reason.(edited)I recently found out that 491 is not a chapter. My epub file showed this chapter as 491 and that’s caused a lot of confusion. Anyways, the following statement still stands true.(edited) The reason why it shows 491 is because the author has been skipping numbers on multiple occasions, likely due to formatting error, since so far there has been no skipped content.
Cheng Hongling did not respond, merely glaring coldly at Cheng Ling.
“What’s wrong? Run out of arguments?” Cheng Ling taunted.
“You should know my temper. Provoking me won’t do you any good,” Cheng Hongling replied, her expression unchanging.
“And you should know mine. Threats are useless against me,” Cheng Ling shot back without hesitation.
“Let’s go!”
Cheng Hongling motioned to Qi Huang beside her, clearly unwilling to waste any more words.
“Heh, Qi Huang! Did you really think that by refusing to dwell on whether you’re a man or a woman, whether you’re Huang Qi or Cheng Hongling, everything would be fine?”
Just then, Cheng Ling’s mocking voice rang out again.
“What do you mean?” Qi Huang frowned.
“Nothing much. It’s just that I haven’t been this happy in a long time. I originally thought my plan had failed, so I intended to have Huang Ling handle some matters for me. Who would’ve thought she’d have her physical body destroyed by a heavenly tribulation? I was already despairing, but today, you’ve given me an unexpected surprise. It seems my earlier worries were unnecessary, your will is too weak. You’re destined to be assimilated by me.”
A sinister smile crept onto Cheng Ling’s face. The “Huang Ling” she mentioned referred to Qi Huang’s Spiritual Wisdom Soul, that very same Huang Ling.
Back when Qi Huang had been appointed as an Imperial Consort, she had cultivated a fourth doppelgänger, Huang Ling, as a precautionary measure. But that unlucky fool had her physical body shattered by a heavenly tribulation the moment she stepped out of the inn.
“Damn you and your riddles! Just die already!”
Qi Huang, completely baffled, flew into a rage and cursed.
“Enough talk with her!”
Cheng Hongling, fearing Qi Huang might fall for Cheng Ling’s tricks, swiftly pulled her out of the Sea of Consciousness.
“Cheng Hongling, ah Cheng Hongling, siding with outsiders, how disgraceful. Even I feel embarrassed for you.”
Cheng Ling’s jeering voice faintly trailed after them.
“What did she mean by saying my will is too weak?”
Back in the real world, Qi Huang couldn’t shake off her frustration and pressed for answers.
“Don’t take her words seriously. She’s a pathological liar,” Cheng Hongling warned.

“Sigh… Seems she’s dead set on turning me into nothing but a woman.”
Qi Huang shook her head helplessly.
“It’s inevitable. If you remain in your current state and someone with Yin-Yang Eyes spots you, we’ll be in deep trouble. But don’t worry, I’ll do everything in my power to help you.”
Cheng Hongling tried to reassure her.
“Thank you.”
Qi Huang expressed her gratitude sincerely. Even though she knew no one could truly help her now, warmth still blossomed in her heart.
“Like you said, why stand on ceremony between us?”
Cheng Hongling replied instinctively, but her expression soon turned awkward.
“I plan to leave first tomorrow. You can follow at your own pace.”
After a brief pause, Qi Huang made her decision. She was deeply worried about that cat-eared girl and wanted to rush to Pingshan Mass Burial Ground to check if she had made it home safely.
“Why?” Cheng Hongling asked, puzzled.
“Remember the expert I mentioned who’d help us take over the Honghua Sect? She has urgent matters to attend to, so I need to return and take over for her. Otherwise, I won’t be at ease.”
Qi Huang fabricated a plausible excuse.
“Alright then.”
Cheng Hongling couldn’t very well argue further.
The night passed without incident. Qi Huang slept properly, not daring to cross any boundaries no matter how strong the temptation.
At the break of dawn, Qi Huang bid farewell to her main body and hurried toward the Honghua Sect.
Her current speed was nothing to scoff at. Within half a shichen 1 1 hour , she had already reached the Honghua Sect. With a casual sweep of her Divine Sense, she quickly located Mimi in one of the courtyards and headed straight for her.
“Your sister still hasn’t returned?”
The moment she stepped inside, Qi Huang cut straight to the point.
“Sister Qi Huang! You’re finally back! I’ve been so worried, she hasn’t contacted me for days!”
Mimi’s voice trembled as she spoke, her large, clear eyes quickly filling with tears.
“Seems she’s really in trouble.”

Qi Huang’s expression darkened.
“Sister Qi Huang, do you think my sister is in danger?”
Mimi clutched Qi Huang’s sleeve desperately.
“Don’t worry, your sister is very strong.”
Qi Huang lied through her teeth to comfort her before adding, “Keep looking after the Honghua Sect for me. I’ll go find your sister.”
“No! Mimi wants to go with you!”
Mimi refused to let go, her nails reverting to sharp cat claws that hooked into Qi Huang’s sleeve like barbs.
“Rip—”
Qi Huang tugged slightly, only to tear several gashes in her sleeve. She was at a loss for words.
“I’m sorry! I’m sorry! Sister Qi Huang, please don’t hit Mimi! Wuwu… Mimi is just too worried about her sister!”
Mimi burst into tears, terrified.
“Who said anything about hitting you?”
Qi Huang sighed in exasperation before relenting. “Fine, you can come. But you must behave, understand?”
“Yay! Mimi will be good! Mimi is the most obedient!”
Instantly, Mimi’s tears turned to laughter. Though she appeared to be a girl of fifteen or sixteen, her actual intelligence was closer to that of an eight- or nine-year-old human. After all, she wasn’t human.
As for Yaoyao, her higher cultivation base made her seem far more intelligent. It seemed a demon’s intellect was directly tied to their strength.
Qi Huang began pondering how to handle the mess before her. If she and Mimi left, the Honghua Sect would be left unguarded again.
After much deliberation, she found no solution. In the end, she had no choice but to rely on her main body. She sent a mental transmission:
“I’m afraid I’ll have to trouble you to return as soon as possible. Something urgent has come up, and I must deal with it immediately!”
“What could be so urgent? Isn’t finding a way to stop your feminization your top priority right now?”
Cheng Hongling’s displeasure was evident in her tone.
“I can’t explain.”
Qi Huang dodged the question, hoping her main body would trust her unconditionally.
“Fine. I’ll hurry back. But I’m not as fast as you. You’ll have to wait half a day.”

Cheng Hongling didn’t let her down.
“Half a day is too long. I’ll come get you right away.”
Qi Huang proposed, relieved when her main body didn’t object.
And so, in less than a shichen 2 2 hours , Qi Huang had brought Cheng Hongling back to the Honghua Sect.
“Do you need my help?”
Cheng Hongling asked, concerned. The look on her doppelgänger’s face told her the situation was serious.
“No need. It’s a minor issue, shouldn’t take more than a few days.”
Qi Huang declined politely. She couldn’t guarantee that her main body would coexist peacefully with a resentful spirit like Yaoyao.
“Then be careful. If you run into any trouble, call for me immediately.”
Cheng Hongling urged.
With that, Qi Huang bid her farewell and set off with Mimi toward the Donglai Sect.
“Can you transform into clothing like your sister to block Divine Sense detection?”
Qi Huang asked as they flew at high speed. She hadn’t brought the timid cat-eared girl along just to appease her. She hoped Mimi could be of some help. After all, the Donglai Sect’s situation was entirely unknown.
“Of course! We demons are different from cultivators. For cultivators, reaching the Incarnation Realm means the energy core in their Qi Sea takes human form. But for us, our entire physical bodies can change shape, except for our souls.”
Mimi explained.
“Good. If I need to conceal my presence, I’ll be counting on you.”
Qi Huang laid out her expectations upfront.
“No problem! Mimi would even die if it means saving her sister!”
Mimi clenched her small fists with determination.
Meanwhile, back at the Lü family residence…

Lü Gao had sought out his second uncle, Lü Ze, with the intent of enlisting his help in suppressing Cheng Hongling and Qi Huang.
“Second Uncle, how much do you know about my future daughter-in-law?”
In the spacious main hall, Lü Gao probed cautiously.
“Not much, just what everyone else knows. But it’s enough to prove she’s exceptional.”
Lü Ze forced a compliment, though jealousy gnawed at him.
“Indeed. She’s already taken first place in the state-level Evergreen Conference.”
Lü Gao stroked his beard with a hint of pride.
“Congratulations, then. For Lü Yi to marry such a bride is truly a stroke of fortune for your family.”
Lü Ze’s words were nearly gritted out between his teeth.
“The joy is mutual. Once she enters the Lü family, she’ll still be your granddaughter-in-law and will surely honor you as well.”
Lü Gao extended an olive branch.
“Ah, yes, yes!”
Lü Ze responded noncommittally.
“But before that, I must trouble you for a small favor.”
Lü Gao seized the moment to broach his real request.
“What favor? If it’s within my power, just name it.”
Lü Ze put on a magnanimous front.
“You know as well as I do that with my daughter-in-law’s current strength, if she continues participating in the Evergreen Conference, she’ll inevitably draw the attention of other immortal clans or sects. Once they join the competition, there’s no guarantee Cheng Hongling will remain your granddaughter-in-law.”
Lü Gao hinted darkly.
“And so?”
A faint smirk tugged at Lü Ze’s lips.
“Your in-law, Elder Zuo, is overseeing Immortal Alliance affairs in the Western Radiance Dynasty, isn’t he? I was hoping you could ask him to intervene, suppress Cheng Hongling harshly and force my future daughter-in-law to return home early. She shouldn’t be gallivanting about in public.”
Lü Gao finally revealed his true intentions.
