Volume 8, Chapter 475 – With Me Here, Who Dares Mend the Heavens? (Part 2)
Lu Yao’s current strength had already reached the critical limit that this world could accommodate. Thus, even though she was a zombie and unable to use divine sense, she could still perceive every single movement within the imperial capital with her heightened senses alone.
Because of the gap in the sky, the leakage of yin energy had caused the daylight in the capital to last much longer than before. The common folk sang and danced in celebration, claiming that the heavens had finally opened their eyes.
Lu Yao’s expression gradually turned icy. Only she knew that this was not the heavens opening their eyes, it was her who had torn open the heavens! These people should be thanking her, not the heavens.
Qi Huang shared the same sentiment. A person who had suffered under fate’s torment, who had sworn to “defy the heavens”, had instead inadvertently helped the heavens gain undeserved praise. No one could remain indifferent to such irony.
Lu Yao no longer wished to listen to the foolish chatter of the commoners and shifted her perception toward the northern part of the capital, where the headquarters of the Immortal Alliance stood.
At this very moment, the leader of the Immortal Alliance was gathering the strongest cultivators in the cultivation world to discuss the specifics of mending the heavens.
“Fellow Daoists, as I have already stated in my letter, the reason I have summoned you all to the Immortal Alliance’s headquarters is to address the sudden, massive tears in the sky.”
The one who spoke was a white-haired elder seated upon the grand throne at the highest seat. Though his hair and beard were snow-white, his face was ruddy, and his skin glowed with vitality, a clear sign of profound cultivation.
“Alliance Leader Du, have you sent anyone to investigate the cause behind the spatial rupture in that area?”
An elderly man below asked. Though his hair was also white, his skin was deeply wrinkled and covered in age spots, forming a stark contrast with Alliance Leader Du above.
“No. That area is too far from our cultivation continent, likely beyond the bounds of our world. At such a distance, even if I were to go personally, I would likely exhaust myself before arriving. If danger were to arise, I would be powerless to resist. That is precisely why I have gathered everyone here.”
Alliance Leader Du explained.
“What? Beyond our world? So far?”
“If it’s truly beyond our world, then only us Heavenly Tribulation Realm old-timers would be able to reach it. The gravitational pull of the earth is not something ordinary cultivators can withstand.”
“Moreover, even if we do reach it, our divine sense would be depleted by ninety-nine percent, leaving us unable to fight.”
The cultivators below all wore expressions of shock.
‘This world also has the Heavenly Tribulation Realm?’

Qi Huang was rather surprised. She didn’t know whether it was coincidence or some other reason, but this world’s cultivation system was clearly identical to that of her original world.
“Alliance Leader Du! How do you propose we handle this matter?”
The same elderly man from before spoke again.
“Fellow Daoist Cao, as I have already stated in my letter, we have no choice but to mend the heavens. Ever since those tears appeared, the yin energy of our cultivation continent has been rapidly draining toward them.”
Alliance Leader Du declared firmly.
“Yin energy draining away? Isn’t that a good thing?”
A young man behind Elder Cao asked in confusion.
“Good? How naïve! Once the yin energy completely vanishes, the cultivation world will no longer have any evil spirits. What use would the common folk have for us then? The status of cultivators would plummet overnight!”
Alliance Leader Du warned.
“But… isn’t the purpose of us cultivators to slay demons and uphold righteousness?”
The young man was even more bewildered.
“Heh…”
Alliance Leader Du let out a cold, dismissive laugh before turning to Elder Cao.
“Fellow Daoist Cao, is this how you teach your disciple?”
“Zhang Zhi, shut your mouth!”
Elder Cao turned and rebuked sharply.

Zhang Zhi opened his mouth but ultimately swallowed his words, though his expression remained resentful.
“Ignorant child! Without the support of mortals, how can we grow stronger? How can we slay demons and uphold righteousness?”
An elder nearby mocked, and others quickly joined in with their own jeers.
“Fellow Daoists, please forgive him. The young do not understand the ways of the world!”
Elder Cao clasped his hands awkwardly in apology.
‘Heh, so this is the Immortal Alliance of this world? Seems no different from the one in reality, just a bunch of profit-seeking hypocrites!’
Qi Huang couldn’t help but curse inwardly.
“It’s fine! As long as everyone understands my intentions!”
Alliance Leader Du waved his hand magnanimously.
“Mending the tear in the heavens is indeed necessary, but I believe the risks are far too great. If there is danger in that place, wouldn’t it be reckless for us to charge in blindly?”
At this moment, an elderly woman voiced her doubts. She leaned on a cane, her body hunched and frail, little more than skin and bones.
“Fellow Daoist Zeng makes a valid point. By the time we arrive, our energy will be severely depleted. If we encounter danger, we will have no means to resist. I’ve observed that the tear is slowly healing on its own. Even if we do nothing, it will eventually recover with time.”
Another voice chimed in agreement.
“By the time it recovers, there may not be a single trace of yin energy left in the cultivation world.”
Alliance Leader Du replied impatiently before continuing,
“As for the issue of energy depletion, there’s no need to worry. I’ve already considered this. We can enter a spatial ring and have one person carry us beyond the cultivation continent. Once we’re outside, the gravitational pull won’t be as strong.”
He laid out his plan.

“That’s actually a decent solution!”
The crowd below nodded in approval.
“Alliance Leader Du, there’s another issue. Once we arrive, how do we mend the tear? We don’t know how large it is, nor what materials to use. After all, none of us have any experience in this matter.”
The elderly woman, Daoist Zeng, pondered briefly before raising another question.
“We’ll use Scarlet Flame Earth. Not only is it highly resilient, but it can also block yin energy. One mending will safeguard the cultivation world for at least a century.”
Alliance Leader Du answered without hesitation, as though he had already planned everything out.
“A pack of shameless beasts, sacrificing the people for their own gain.”
Lu Yao, who had remained silent until now, trembled faintly.
With the general plan settled, the first meeting came to an end.
“One last thing. Since the commoners now know that the tears in the sky are draining the yin energy, we must ensure that our plan to mend the heavens does not leak. Understood?”
Alliance Leader Du reminded them sternly before dismissing the assembly.
The gathered cultivators nodded in unison before filing out of the Immortal Alliance headquarters, murmuring among themselves.
Lu Yao, having sensed that Zhang Zhi still possessed a shred of conscience, paid special attention to him.
“Master… is what we’re doing truly right?”
Once they had left the headquarters, Zhang Zhi finally spoke up.
“What’s the issue? If we don’t seal those tears, once the yin energy completely vanishes, the mortals will no longer depend on us cultivators. Our status will collapse overnight.”

Elder Cao reiterated coldly.
“Master, you know that my parents died at the hands of a malignant ghost. The reason I began cultivating was to seek vengeance. Yet all these years, I’ve found no trace of it. Now, the heavens have finally opened their eyes, the yin energy is fading. Once it disappears entirely, that ghost will perish no matter where it hides.”
Zhang Zhi took a deep breath.
“I sympathize with your loss, but your parents are already gone. Even if that ghost dies, what then? Is sacrificing your future worth it, just for the sake of the deceased?”
Elder Cao admonished sternly.
Zhang Zhi opened his mouth but ultimately fell silent.
“Zhang Zhi, listen to your master. Don’t do anything foolish. If the Immortal Alliance discovers that you leaked this information, no one will be able to save you.”
Elder Cao warned once more.
Zhang Zhi said nothing further. No one knew what he was thinking.
Perhaps Lu Yao, too, wished to see what choice this young man would make, so she kept her perception fixed on him.
Zhang Zhi returned to the inn with his master. Over the next few days, he remained silent and withdrawn, clearly tormented by his conscience.
Several days later, as the Immortal Alliance’s plan was about to be set into motion, Zhang Zhi finally chose the path he believed was right. Disguising himself, he leaked the information to the commoners in the streets.
The news spread like wildfire, sweeping through the entire capital in an instant.
The people of the capital erupted in outrage. Families and crowds surged toward the Immortal Alliance headquarters, shouting, “Oppose mending the heavens!”—completely forgetting that they were nothing but powerless mortals.
“Opposing the mending of the heavens? How could I not be part of this?”
Lu Yao murmured to herself before leaving the inn and heading toward the Immortal Alliance headquarters.
