Volume 8, Chapter 493 – Come Out and Greet Your Fiancé (Part 2)
“Overestimating yourself!”
Old Ma sneered, his brow furrowing in disdain as his formidable Divine Sense surged forth once more, pressing down fiercely upon the charging Wen Yunmei.
Wen Yunmei’s speed plummeted abruptly, her legs as though mired in quicksand. Her steps grew heavier and heavier until she could no longer lift them.
“Hmph! With just this meager skill, you dare seek revenge? I truly feel sorry for the disciples who died under your leadership!”
Lü Yi’s voice dripped with scorn.
Wen Yunmei bit her red lips hard, summoning every ounce of strength to resist, yet her body only grew more sluggish, her waist gradually bending under the immense pressure.
“Mother!”
Mu Ruoyi gasped in horror, rushing to support her. But after just a few steps, she too succumbed, her delicate frame trembling as if about to collapse to her knees.
Mu Ruoyi propped herself up with her sword, her beautiful eyes burning with unwillingness as she glared at her enemies. Yet, there was nothing she could do. Under that terrifying Divine Sense Suppression, her legs grew weaker and weaker.
“No! I’d rather die than kneel before my enemies!”
She clenched her teeth, but even suicide was beyond her reach now.
“I’ll fight you to the death! Give me back my family’s lives!”
The elders and disciples of Shuiyu Valley roared in fury, drawing their swords and charging forward.
“A swarm of ants! Kneel, all of you!”
Old Ma bellowed, his Divine Sense erupting like a collapsing mountain, pressing down upon everything within a hundred zhang.
These hundreds of women, their cultivation pitifully weak, the strongest among them barely at the mid-stage of the Incarnation Realm, could only take two steps before meeting the same fate as Wen Yunmei. One by one, they unwillingly knelt before their enemies.

“Hmph! They are not worthy of kneeling before you!”
A woman’s voice rang out at that moment.
Before the words had even faded, a translucent “sword” shot from the distance, swift as lightning, streaking straight toward Old Ma. Like a blade slicing through tofu, it tore his Divine Sense’s defense in half.
‘Such fast Swordflight Technique!’
Old Ma’s heart clenched in alarm. He swung his sword in retaliation, unleashing a crescent of earthen-yellow sword energy that split the air as it surged forward.
But then something bizarre happened.
The “sword” did not clash violently with his attack. Instead, it passed through the sword energy like a mirage, continuing unimpeded toward Old Ma.
‘No, that’s not a real sword! It’s condensed from Divine Sense!’
Realization struck him, and horror flashed across his aged face.
Beside him, Lü Yi’s expression finally shifted. He knew well that to distort the air and manifest an illusion with Divine Sense, one needed at least mid-stage Divine Realm cultivation.
Thinking quickly, Old Ma withdrew his Divine Sense to defend himself, kicking off the saddle and leaping aside with all his might.
Swish!
The Divine Sense “sword” grazed his calf, drawing a spray of blood.
The pain shattered his balance, sending him crashing face-first into the dirt with a howl of agony.
Mu Ruoyi’s legs gave way, but before she could collapse, a fragrant breeze swept past, and a slender arm caught her.
“Sister Ruoyi, are you alright?”

The familiar voice of Qi Huang reached her ears.
“Wuu…”
Mu Ruoyi took a deep breath, feeling as though she had just escaped the gates of hell. She buried her face in Qi Huang’s shoulder, sobbing uncontrollably.
“Such formidable Divine Sense, combined with this Doppelgänger Mark, you must be Qi Huang, then?”
Lü Yi scrutinized Qi Huang carefully, his expression gradually shifting to one of awe.
“It’s alright now, it’s alright.”
Qi Huang continued comforting Mu Ruoyi without even turning her head.
“I thought Lü Er was exaggerating, but to think a place as desolate as this could produce such a peerless beauty. In terms of looks alone, you are no less than those three women with Immortal Bloodline. You could stand alongside them as one of the Four Great Beauties of the Cultivation World.”
Lü Yi remained unperturbed, continuing his appraisal.
“Oh?”
Only then did Qi Huang turn her head. “What a shame, then. I’ve never liked sharing the spotlight.”
“Such personality! I like it!”
Lü Yi chuckled with interest.
At that moment, Cheng Hongling’s figure also appeared on the scene. She narrowed her beautiful eyes at Lü Yi and said, “Judging by your demeanor, you must be Lü Yi. To what do we owe the honor of your visit today?”
“I’ve come to inform you of something. I’ve already inscribed your name, and your doppelgänger’s, onto the Lü Family’s Immortal Stele. That makes you my future wives. The wedding will be held on the sixth day of the sixth month, one year from now. Prepare your dowry, I’ll come to fetch you in a grand procession with an eight-palanquin carriage.”
Lü Yi declared his intentions with domineering certainty.

“What? You wrote my name too? You won’t even spare a doppelgänger?”
Qi Huang stared in disbelief.
“Indeed. I have strong possessive tendencies. If I only obtain the main body and not the doppelgänger, I’d feel as though ants were crawling all over me.”
Lü Yi smirked coldly.
“And if we refuse?”
Qi Huang challenged.
“Refuse?”
Lü Yi paused, then said, “Why would you refuse? The Lü Family ranks among the Top Ten Powers of the entire Cultivation Continent. I am one of the nine most talented youths of my generation, blessed with the blood of Immortals. Marrying me would bring you more glory than being an empress. Your descendants would reap the boundless benefits of this lineage for generations.”
“My apologies, but I have no interest in power or status. As for descendants, for a cultivator seeking immortality, that holds even less appeal.”
Qi Huang remained unmoved.
“Hmph! I’m not here to bargain with you. Once a woman’s name is inscribed on the Immortal Stele, she belongs to the Lü Family. If she fails to enter our gates by the wedding day, she will face the Immortal Might. You’ve seen the tragedy of Shuiyu Valley. If you’re confident in defying the will of the immortal, then I won’t force you.”
Lü Yi’s threat hung heavy in the air.
“Very well. I understand. If there’s nothing else, you may leave.”
Cheng Hongling issued the dismissal coldly.
“Not so fast. There are requirements to becoming my woman.”
Lü Yi retrieved a jade token from his robes and tossed it to Cheng Hongling. “This is the Immortal Selection Token, used by the great sects of Central Continent to test the purity of one’s bloodline. It’s far more accurate than the palace’s Phoenix Selection Token. Test yourself. If your bloodline is too inferior, you won’t need to refuse, the Lü Family won’t allow you to taint our noble Immortal Bloodline.”

Cheng Hongling did not refuse. She gripped the token, curious to see how she would fare under its evaluation.
The Immortal Selection Token measured only bloodline, so beneath the ten embedded gemstones arranged vertically, the words “Bloodline” were carved in relief. Each lit gem represented one point, with ten being “Perfect Bloodline”, a rarity seen only once in millennia.
Qi Huang, equally curious, leaned in to watch.
As time passed, the higher-ups of the Honghua Sect arrived one after another. Cheng Yuan and his wife also hurried over.
Cheng Yuan gazed at his daughter with mixed emotions. Part of him wished for her bloodline score to be high, yet that contradicted his own beliefs.
Cheng Hongling held the token quietly, but after a long while, there was still no reaction.
“Is this token of yours broken?” she asked.
“The Immortal Selection Token requires the tester’s blood to activate.”
Lü Yi explained leisurely.
“Why didn’t you say so earlier? Wasting everyone’s time.”
Qi Huang shot him a glare.
Without another word, Cheng Hongling pricked her finger with a sharp nail, letting a drop of blood fall onto the token.
The moment the blood was absorbed, the token reacted. The gemstones began lighting up one by one. One… two… three…
Qi Huang watched nervously. The more outstanding her main body, the happier she would be, completely forgetting her usual opposition to Bloodline Theory.
Cheng Hongling, however, remained calm, as if this had nothing to do with her. Because of her father’s beliefs, she would rather her bloodline score be lower.
