Volume 9, Chapter 583 – How Can One Defeat the Heavenly Dao
“Yes, it’s been a long time, nearly twenty years!”
Yu Qian’s response sounded, and before the last syllable even fell, she had already appeared before Lu Yao.
Qi Huang carefully examined the so-called legendary “Tianjizi”. The other party appeared to be just over twenty years old, her face small as a palm, her delicate features finely carved, naturally evoking pity. Yet, she had a pair of bright, limpid eyes, and her jet-black hair cascaded down to her waist, giving her the aura of an ethereal spirit untouched by worldly dust.
“So, you’re Yu Qian? That so-called Tianjizi? You should already know why I came.”
Lu Yao spoke bluntly. She was no man and therefore had no reason to be swayed by Yu Qian’s delicate and pitiful appearance.
“I know. You must have many questions for me, right? But before we start, I need to confirm something first. Did you use what I had my father give you?”
Yu Qian cautiously reminded her.
“I did.”
Lu Yao replied casually.
“Good. Then let’s find a quiet place to talk.”
Yu Qian smiled with satisfaction.
“And you? Don’t you need it?”
Lu Yao instinctively handed over the Heaven-Deceiving Water.
“No need. I have plenty stored in my spatial ring. I already used it just now.”
Yu Qian explained.
Lu Yao relaxed at that, then took Yu Qian with her and vanished from the spot.
The two quickly left Lanhuan Planet and chose a quiet planet to descend upon.
“Ask away. Anything I know, I’ll tell you.”
Yu Qian spoke sincerely.
“First, do you know what the Heavenly Dao truly is? Is it really all-knowing and all-powerful?”

Lu Yao finally voiced the question that had troubled her for so long.
Qi Huang also focused intently, for this was something she desperately wanted to know as well.
“The Heavenly Dao… is the very myriad worlds we exist within.”
Yu Qian gave the answer she knew.
“What?”
Lu Yao thought she’d misheard.
“You didn’t hear wrong. The Heavenly Dao is the myriad worlds we live in! Think of it this way: if the Heavenly Dao were a cultivator, then every world would be like one of its organs, every planet like a piece of its flesh, while we, along with the flowers and grass around us, are merely the fine hairs upon that flesh. The will of the Heavenly Dao would be its soul. With that comparison, you should understand whether it’s truly omniscient and omnipotent.”
Yu Qian explained solemnly.
‘Hiss…!’
Qi Huang instinctively drew in a sharp breath. She hadn’t expected such an answer. If this was true, it meant every blade of grass and every tree across the myriad worlds was under the Heavenly Dao’s constant surveillance, just as a cultivator knows every inch of their own body.
Lu Yao’s expression grew grave, but she showed no sign of despair. Instead, she continued, “Even so, how does the Heavenly Dao know every person’s future? A cultivator doesn’t know exactly what will happen to every inch of their flesh the next moment.”
“That’s why I said it’s only an analogy. In reality, the Heavenly Dao is far superior to any cultivator. It knows everyone’s future because it has already planned out each person’s entire life, birth, aging, sickness, death, even the smallest daily routines, all arranged by its design. That’s what we call fate. If you don’t know the truth, you’ll simply follow the path it set without resistance. And even if you do resist, how would you know your resistance isn’t also part of its plan?”
Yu Qian gave a helpless smile.
“Heh… seems like I’ve found the right enemy, then.”
Lu Yao wasn’t distressed, instead, she seemed oddly pleased.
“Benefactor, I know your past, and I understand what you want to do. But remember, we are fundamentally part of the Heavenly Dao itself. No matter how strong we become, we cannot surpass it. That means your hope for revenge is extremely slim. Even knowing this, do you still want to continue forward?”
Yu Qian reminded her.
“Why wouldn’t I? I’m already a dead person. Do you think I’m afraid of dying again?”
Lu Yao replied with ease.
“In that case, I’ll do everything in my power to help you.” Yu Qian made her stance clear. “So, in your view, how can we possibly destroy the Heavenly Dao?”

Lu Yao asked urgently.
“I already said this earlier: since you are part of the Heavenly Dao, your growth ceiling is locked. To defeat it, we must take another path, by cultivating powers that do not belong to it.”
Yu Qian spoke patiently.
“Powers that don’t belong to it? Like what?”
Lu Yao frowned.
“For example, the Yin Energy in your body. It can corrode all things and is especially effective against the Five Elemental spiritual energies used to shape the worlds. But that alone isn’t enough. You’ll also need something to counter the will of the Heavenly Dao itself. Think of it like facing a powerful immortal, you must guard against both their cultivation and their Divine Sense.”
Yu Qian explained thoroughly.
“So what can counter the Heavenly Dao’s will? I’m a zombie; I have no soul. Cultivating Divine Sense isn’t possible for me.”
Lu Yao clarified first.
“Even if you could cultivate Divine Sense, it wouldn’t matter. I’ve already told you: since you’re part of the Heavenly Dao, your soul would be, too. That path is locked off.” Yu Qian shook her head and continued, “But fortunately, there is something in this world that restrains Divine Sense: Killing Intent.”
“Killing Intent?”
Lu Yao looked stunned. This was her first time hearing about such a thing.
“Yes, Killing Intent. It exists beyond the Five Elements. It directly assaults one’s mental state, throwing the mind into chaos and preventing effective use of Divine Sense. As long as it’s a sentient being, it can be affected, the Heavenly Dao is no exception.”
Yu Qian explained confidently.
“That sounds good, but I don’t know anything about Killing Intent, let alone how to cultivate it.”
Lu Yao admitted awkwardly.
“That’s fine. I have a manual on understanding Killing Intent. You can study it at your own pace.”
Yu Qian took out a slip of paper and handed it to Lu Yao.
Lu Yao opened it and skimmed a few lines before her expression froze. “This says Killing Intent can only be comprehended through killing?”

“Of course. It’s called Killing Intent for a reason, it’s born from slaughter.”
Yu Qian smiled faintly.
“Besides Yin Energy and Killing Intent, is there anything else I need?”
Lu Yao asked again.
“Of course. Yin Energy and Killing Intent are just ways for you to grow stronger, but you lack the time to do so. The Heavenly Dao won’t allow you to cultivate endlessly, so you’ll need a way to completely hide your presence.”
Yu Qian suggested.
“Will this Heaven-Deceiving Water work?”
Lu Yao asked after thinking for a moment.
“No. The Heaven-Deceiving Water only works against the Heavenly Dao’s hounds, the puppet Celestials in the Upper Realm. It cannot fool the Heavenly Dao itself.”
Yu Qian’s words were shocking.
“What? Then doesn’t that mean everything we’ve said just now is already known to the Heavenly Dao?”
Lu Yao was startled.
Qi Huang, too, felt conflicted. If Heaven-Deceiving Water was useless, wasn’t all this effort pointless?
“Don’t panic. Long ago, the Heavenly Dao fought another Heavenly Dao in a deadly battle. It won, but it hasn’t fully digested the other yet. Right now, it’s still in slumber.”
Yu Qian revealed yet another bombshell.
“How do you know the Heavenly Dao is sleeping? Don’t tell me Tianjizi’s foresight surpasses the Heavenly Dao itself?”
Lu Yao questioned suspiciously.
“Of course not. I know because my ancestor from the Upper Realm told me through Soul Resonance.”
Yu Qian explained.
“Soul Resonance?”

Lu Yao frowned, her face full of doubt.
“Yes. In the Immortal Realm, if one’s Celestial bloodline awakens strongly enough, they can establish Soul Resonance with their ancestors, sometimes even communicating directly.” Yu Qian elaborated, then added, “To be honest, my foresight comes entirely from the Upper Realm Celestial ancestor’s messages through Soul Resonance. They’re close to the Heavenly Dao and naturally know the fate of each person, including yours.”
‘There’s such a thing?’
Qi Huang was utterly stunned.
“But wait, someone’s fate should be a heavenly secret. If your ancestor casually reveals it, aren’t they afraid the Heavenly Dao will find out and punish them?”
Lu Yao asked immediately.
“Punishment? You’re underestimating it. If the Heavenly Dao discovers them, it’s instant death.”
Yu Qian smiled bitterly.
“Then why would they risk their life to tell you?”
Lu Yao pressed.
“Of course, it’s for the sake of their descendants. Producing a Tianjizi within the family brings unimaginable wealth and prosperity.”
Yu Qian gave a self-deprecating smile.
Lu Yao’s expression eased. That made sense. If revealing heavenly secrets secured the future of one’s entire bloodline, even at the cost of one’s life, it was worth it.
“Alright, back to the main point. I said before: to grow strong enough, you must hide your presence. But since the myriad worlds are all part of the Heavenly Dao, hiding yourself is impossible under normal means.” Yu Qian paused before continuing, “However, remember what I said earlier. Long ago, the Heavenly Dao fought another one of its kind and devoured it. If you can locate the remnants of that foreign Heavenly Dao’s power, you can hide yourself.”
“Really? And how do you know that power can hide me?”
Lu Yao asked quickly.
“Because that foreign Heavenly Dao’s ability… was Assimilation.”
Yu Qian explained gravely.
