Volume 9, Chapter 595 – So the Source of the Yin Miasma Was Her (Part 2)
“As far as I know, when the Lin Clan rebelled, they slaughtered every member of His Highness’s family. So long as my lady is awakened, not only can you take revenge, you can reclaim this vast land as well.”
Wang Jun dangled a grand promise.
“What must I, the Crown Prince, prepare?”
Jiang Feng asked with curiosity.
“If you have any powerful artifacts, talismans, or the like, bring them. Otherwise, there’s nothing in particular you need.”
Wang Jun instructed.
“Then, Brother Wang, please wait a moment.”
Jiang Feng offered a perfunctory reply, then turned and left the study.
He quickly reached the outside of the Crown Prince’s mausoleum. After successively activating a “Body-Guarding Talisman” and a “Sound-Silencing Talisman,” he produced a Thousand-Mile Communication Tube and contacted Qi Huang, briefly explaining the current situation.
“Then I must trouble Your Highness. You absolutely must not let the source of that yin miasma awaken.”
Qi Huang made a polite entreaty.
“Rest easy, my Crown Princess. This Crown Prince’s word is iron. Wait for my message, I’ll tell you exactly what I find once I’m there.”
Jiang Feng pledged with firm conviction.
“Then I’ll trouble Your Highness.”

Qi Huang thanked him courteously, her heart full of anticipation. Truth be told, she had long wanted to investigate the Pingshan Mass Burial Ground herself, but now that she had Jiang Feng as a convenient tool, she was happy to keep leisurely watch.
As for why Qi Huang did not simply probe with Divine Sense, it was because the yin miasma at the burial ground’s center was so dense that Divine Sense could not penetrate it at all. Precisely for this reason, she surmised that the evil root was at least of the flying-corpse or flying-skeleton class.
Elsewhere, Jiang Feng, pretending to have finished preparations, returned to the study.
“Your Highness, should this subordinate accompany you?”
General Li suggested.
“No. You just hold this imperial mausoleum.”
Jiang Feng ordered. He had no intention of offering genuine aid; he was going in as a mole. If exposed, bringing a subordinate would only make escape harder.
Next, Jiang Feng followed Wang Jun away from the Crown Prince’s mausoleum, heading toward the heart of the Pingshan Mass Burial Ground.
Qi Huang, at Honghua Sect, remained on constant alert. At the slightest sign of trouble, she would hurry over at once.
“Brother Wang, how should I address your lady?”
On the road, Jiang Feng probed.
“Apologies, Your Highness. As servants, we truly can’t reveal my lady’s name.”
Wang Jun replied without expression.
“If Brother Wang does not trust this Crown Prince, then why ask me for help? Surely you understand the principle of not doubting the people you employ.”

Jiang Feng escalated it to a matter of principle.
“Your Highness is taking it too far. My refusal to give my lady’s name isn’t about mistrusting you. It’s because a servant should know his proper bounds.”
Wang Jun explained casually, who knew whether truthfully or not.
“Heh… Seems your lady’s status isn’t simple, to have a servant so well-versed in rules.”
Jiang Feng mocked him with a snide tone.
Wang Jun did not retaliate; he only bared his thick lips in a polite semblance of a smile.
The two continued toward the center. As time passed, the surrounding yin miasma grew ever denser, and the fiends they encountered became stronger.
A trace of gravity surfaced on Jiang Feng’s face, for he could already feel a faint pressure in the very air. Subtle though it was, it was enough to show how formidable the source at the center must be.
They pressed on. Before long, the terrain ahead dropped away into a sudden, exaggerated sinkhole. Because the yin miasma obscured sight, there was no telling how wide or how deep it ran.
Wang Jun led Jiang Feng down into the pit. The soil and stones of the ground, corroded by Yin Energy over the years, were finer than desert and that “ashes” was the more fitting word. A single step sank one’s leg halfway in. As for any vegetation, utterly impossible.
Both were zombies and could not fly; they had to advance on foot. Only after great effort did they reach the bottom.
At the bottom, the yin miasma was as thick as splashed ink. An ordinary person would have felt as if trapped in a lightless night where one could not see one’s hand before one’s face, unable to see anything at all. Fiends, however, were not greatly affected.
Jiang Feng looked closely and saw a massive pitch-black coffin resting at the bottom. The surrounding yin miasma was leaking from the seams of this coffin, and so was that soul-gripping pressure. Clearly, this was the source of all the Yin Energy in Pingshan Mass Burial Ground. The great pit had formed from its corrosive exhalations.

Around the coffin stood four terrifying figures. Two were evil ghosts of mid-tier strength at the so-called “Demonic Realm”, one male and one female. Each had condensed Yin Energy into a body, hair hanging in tangles, their features indistinct, but their scarlet eyes, brimming with boundless hatred, were dreadfully clear. A third figure was a golden corpse like Wang Jun, though thinner of frame, and with corpse mottling that was lighter than Wang Jun’s; he looked to be only at early golden-corpse stage. The last was a terrifying four-eared wolf. Its pelt was snowy white, its body the size of a house, the lines sleek with a distinctly feminine grace, yet the scarlet vertical pupils seethed with killing intent. Add to that tusks about three feet long and the faintly parted blood-red maw, and it was enough to chill the heart.
At the sight of the four-eared wolf, Jiang Feng’s nerves tensed. Beneath that white pelt, patches of dark-gold corpse mottling spread, deeper in shade than his own, and an invisible pressure rolled off it. This proved the beast to be late-stage golden corpse, equivalent to late-stage Divine Realm, perhaps even its peak.
By now, all four horrors had turned their gaze on Jiang Feng, each with a hint of hostility in the eyes. After all, everyone knew why he had come to the mass burial ground previously.
Wang Jun stepped forward and reported to the giant white wolf: “ Bai Yun, I’ve brought the Crown Prince of the former dynasty.”
The white wolf did not answer. She padded forward instead. Her hill-like body was so heavy that each thick limb sank deep into the earth, and when she pulled free, dust billowed; the ground itself trembled faintly.
She halted and looked down on Jiang Feng, the red hatred burning in her bestial eyes like twin flames, casting the surroundings into a blood-tinted world that no drifting dust could veil. Framed by fur, her gaping jaws were so red they seemed about to drip blood. Her presence was terrifying.
Jiang Feng’s scalp prickled. He had never imagined there would be such a powerful four-eared wolf zombie here. That meant he could not afford even the tiniest misstep; otherwise, escape would be near impossible.
“Your Highness, I am my lady’s pet, Bai Yun. Thank you for extending a helping hand.”
The white wolf studied him for a moment, then actually spoke in human tongue, and what’s more, the voice she produced was that of a mature woman.
Jiang Feng steadied himself and replied, “No need for courtesy. If this Crown Prince is to emerge from the mass burial ground and exact revenge, I must also rely on your lady. I only hope you’ll keep your word and tell me who the traitor was after the deed is done.”
“Of course.”
Bai Yun agreed without hesitation, then turned and walked to the coffin.
Jiang Feng went over as well and examined it closely. To his shock, the coffin was not made of any ordinary material; it had been formed entirely from dense, layered Yin Energy. Its surface appeared solid, which spoke volumes about the terror of what lay within.
“Your lady is the one lying in there?”

He asked without thinking.
“Yes. This coffin wasn’t innate; it was formed afterward by my lady’s own Yin Energy, like a silkworm’s cocoon. It’s an instinctive act of self-protection.”
The white wolf named Bai Yun explained.
“Then how do we wake her?”
Jiang Feng pressed on.
“Because this coffin insulates sound extremely well, to wake her we must first join forces to open it.”
Bai Yun laid out the plan.
“There’s one thing I find odd. I woke up two years ago. Why have you only come to seek me now?”
After a moment’s thought, Jiang Feng asked.
“Because the few of us alone could not open this coffin. Fortunately, not long ago, some people came of their own accord to help. They should arrive soon.”
Bai Yun explained the reason.
“You have other helpers?”
Surprise showed on Jiang Feng’s face.
