Volume 9, Chapter 598 – She, Awakened
Beside the coffin, Chief Steward Zhong and Thousand Shadows, who now had only his Life Soul left, were stunned on the spot, their bodies trembling slightly from fear. The next instant, wild joy bloomed across their faces, because this meant their mission had succeeded.
“She woke up! She actually woke up!”
Chief Steward Zhong said, excited.
“Yes, this means our mission is complete. But didn’t that white wolf say we had to open the coffin first?”
Thousand Shadows waved his hands with giddy excitement, completely forgetting that he was already a dead person.
“Who knows? We should get out of here at once, lest we get caught up in the fallout.”
Chief Steward Zhong barked a quick order, then led the way in a sprint.
Thousand Shadows hurried after him. Now that he had only a pitiful wisp of soul remaining, without relying on Chief Steward Zhong he’d be devoured in moments by the fiendish specters of the Pingshan Mass Burial Ground.
At that moment, the black coffin began to melt, the way ink dissolves into water, its yin energy retracting like inky vapor. Within, it revealed a slender skeleton, crystal-clear, like it had been carved of jade. From its shape, it should be female. It simply floated there in midair, perfectly still, without using any Divine Sense to fly.
The next instant, the yin miasma of the entire Pingshan Mass Burial Ground began to flow back, pouring into her body. At the same time, flesh began to bud inch by inch over the bones, then organ after organ took shape. The aura she exuded grew more and more terrifying.
“Sob… my lady… you’ve finally awakened… Bai Yun missed you so much!”
Off to one side, upon hearing the woman’s voice, Bai Yun burst into tears, then obediently prostrated on the ground, as if she had wholly forgotten the pain in her body.
“Haha, it’s our lady! Our lady is awake! Now you’re all doomed!”
“That’s right. With our lady here, no one can stand in our way. It’s time to take revenge on the Immortal Alliance.”
“Thousands of years… thousands of years! Who knows how I got through these millennia? Beloved wife and son, can you see this from the heavens? My lady is so powerful, she will surely lead us to vengeance!”

Not far away, Wang Jun and the other “people” hiding in the shadows cried out in rapture.
At the same time, every fiendish specter in the entire Pingshan Mass Burial Ground knelt, their bodies shaking.
Qi Huang felt that dreadful pressure of soul and her face turned slightly pale. She knew this was absolutely the most powerful existence she had ever encountered.
“My Beloved, this looks bad; the source of that yin miasma has awakened.”
Jiang Feng couldn’t help trembling either. After all, he’d become a zombie thanks to that entity. In other words, she was akin to his second parent.
“What must come will come. Why so suddenly, though? So this is what people mean when they say plans can’t keep up with changes.”
Qi Huang gave a self-mocking smile, then said to Jiang Feng at her side, “If you don’t want to die, get out. Now.”
“But what about you? Are you confident you can handle her?”
Jiang Feng asked, wavering.
“Go!”
Impatient, Qi Huang wrapped Jiang Feng in her Divine Sense and flung him into the distance.
“My Beloved, I will come back for you!”
Jiang Feng shouted as he streaked away like a meteor and vanished beyond the sky.
“You go too.”

Qi Huang slipped back into her sheer shawl and gave the order.
“But, Sister…”
Mimi’s small face showed clear reluctance.
“Not listening, are you? Move! Staying will do nothing but throw your life away.”
Qi Huang scolded.
“Sob… Sister… you must come back.”
Rubbing her big eyes, Mimi left, looking back every few steps.
Qi Huang let out a slow breath, then turned to face the coffin with steady resolve. She knew that in the Western Radiance Dynasty, if anyone could possibly stop this terrifying specter, it could only be her. For the sake of her parents and family, for the sake of her kin and friends in the Honghua Sect, she could only fight to the death today.
Qi Huang took a moment to pull out the Thousand-Mile Communication Tube and contacted Cheng Hongling.
“If I die, it shouldn’t drag you down, right? After all, Cheng Ling is your true Spiritual Wisdom Soul.”
Qi Huang said bluntly.
“What nonsense are you talking about?”
Cheng Hongling, in the Honghua Sect, was startled.
“It’s nothing. The source of the fiendish specters at the Pingshan Mass Burial Ground has awakened. I’m going to fight her to the end. If I really die, I hope you’ll help comfort my family.”
Qi Huang pleaded.

“What? Wait there, I’m coming right away. Don’t be reckless.”
Cheng Hongling’s voice trembled as she spoke. She immediately cut the connection and sped toward the Pingshan Mass Burial Ground. Unfortunately, with only late-stage Incarnation Realm cultivation, she couldn’t possibly arrive in a short time.
“I’d love to wait! But will she give me that chance?”
Qi Huang smiled helplessly, then controlled her hair to seize the white wolf and drag it to her side. Keeping it as a “hostage” was better than killing it outright.
In the bottom of the great pit not far away, the skeleton had already been fully clothed with flesh. Moments later, it turned into a tall woman. Her long, jet-black hair was combed up into an imperious cloud bun, revealing an exquisitely sculpted, noble oval face. A red beauty mark between her brows lent her an extra air of aristocratic grace. Her long, elegant body was bare, as voluptuous as a married young woman; every gesture rippled with sensuality. Her long, shapely legs were cleanly defined in their curves, an arresting contrast. And at the corner of her mouth, the obvious zombie fangs gave her a dangerously alluring beauty.
The bewitching woman’s eyes brimmed with boundless resentment. She continued drawing in the endless yin energy. As the grievance in her eyes gradually faded, the zombie fangs at her lips retracted, and her deathly pale skin took on a faint flush. Her body grew very close to that of an ordinary human. The incoming darkness coalesced into swathes of black gauze, which stitched themselves together into a magnificent Feathered Dress with wide sleeves, draping over her graceful figure. At this moment, she looked like a noble fairy.
From bare bones to a ‘fairy’ of flesh and blood, the process was complex, yet she accomplished it in only a few dozen breaths, as if she had traveled from the underworld to the human world, resurrected from the dead.
In truth, the ultimate goal of a fiendish specter’s cultivation is to return from death to life; the stronger the specter, the more human her appearance.
“Who would have thought this Lady would see the light of day again!”
The source of the specters lifted her head and sighed. Because she had absorbed a massive amount of yin energy, the Pingshan Mass Burial Ground was now hardly different from the outside world, only a thin layer of shadow remained, and the sun could be faintly seen overhead.
“Immortal Alliance… All that you did back then, this Lady will pay it back double!”
A cold smile touched the woman’s lips. Then she looked toward Qi Huang and said, “Let me first show you my power as I am now.”
Qi Huang felt the overwhelming pressure roll in. She sent her Divine Sense surging out of her body, monitoring every stir of breeze and blade of grass.
Swish!

All of a sudden, a black afterimage entered the range of Qi Huang’s Divine Sense and, in the blink of an eye, appeared before her.
‘What speed!’
Qi Huang’s nerves went taut in an instant. Even with her powerful Divine Sense, she could catch only a blur. That alone proved the opponent’s strength was at least on par with a cultivator at the second layer of the Heavenly Tribulation Realm.
Qi Huang looked closely. It was a beautiful woman dressed in a black, wide-sleeved Feathered Dress. With the pink beauty mark at her brow and her noble bearing, she showed no traits of a zombie at all, and for a moment Qi Huang couldn’t be certain whether this was the source of the yin miasma.
“Miss… it’s my lady… sob…”
“Miss… thousands of years… you’ve finally awakened… I am your servant, Wang Jun!”
“Miss… sob… I’m your maid, Bao Ying. Bai Yun was bullied, please avenge her!”
A few ghosts not far away burst into weeping with excitement.
Bai Yun looked at her own lady; great beads of tears rolled from her beastly eyes, and she whimpered, choking with emotion.
“Yes, I’ve awakened. I swear, from this day forward no one will bully you again.”
The source of the yin miasma answered with imperious confidence. Then she appraised Qi Huang, a playful smile blooming on her gorgeous face. “What a pretty little sister. It’s a pity I’m not a man. But if you dare hurt Bai Yun, no matter how pretty you are, you die.”
“Your pet is in my hands right now. Who lives and who dies isn’t settled yet.”
Qi Huang said evenly. Since she wasn’t afraid of death, why fear anything else?
“Let’s make a deal. You release her, and I’ll turn you into a zombie or a ghost. That way, at least you won’t die all the way.”
