Volume 10, Chapter 647 – I Need to Be Assimilated
Lu Yao clearly remembered that the Tianjizi had said that to defeat the Heavenly Dao, one had to take an unorthodox path and seek power outside the rules such as yin energy, killing intent, and other forces that also belonged to the Heavenly Dao.
Lu Yao did not fear death, but she feared dying without avenging her hatred. So she planned to grasp every kind of power she could master; that way, her chance of success would be a bit higher.
But raw power alone was not enough. After all, the Heavenly Dao was all-knowing and all-powerful, so she had to conceal her own aura. For that, she would need Heaven-Deceiving Water.
After asking around in the Immortal Realm, Lu Yao discovered that Heaven-Deceiving Water was carried by a kind of comet known as “Greenwater Star”. She thus began searching all across the cosmos. Although there were many competitors, none could truly obstruct her.
Of course, during this time Lu Yao did not forget to seek ghost tomatoes to nourish the Boundless Demonic Hair, because only by relying on the grafted Divine Sense it carried could she search other worlds for the residual power of the foreign Heavenly Dao.
Lu Yao strengthened the Boundless Demonic Hair very quickly. After all, there were no competitors for ghost tomatoes, and finding them was far easier than Heaven-Deceiving Water.
In this way, Lu Yao grew stronger while heading toward Longpan Planet, where the Immortal Alliance headquarters was located, because the Tianjizi had said that she could obtain information about that “foreign Heavenly Dao” there.
Lu Yao soon arrived at the Immortal Alliance’s headquarters. Because the Heavenly Dao had long been ordering the Alliance to purge the remnants of the foreign Heavenly Dao, many bounty notices had been issued. She quickly obtained one, the document included an introduction to that foreign Heavenly Dao.
At an inn, Lu Yao began to examine it carefully. According to the bounty notice, after taking form that foreign Heavenly Dao appeared as a woman of peerless charm and grace, and she wielded a pink power that assimilated all things wherever it reached.
This assimilation had four tiers. The first tier’s effect was a simple conversion of sex—“feminization”. Any male contaminated by the pink power, whether human, animal, or even plant, would have his body turn female while retaining his original soul. Female bodies would not change much; their constitutions would shift somewhat, and that pink power would remain within them to mark them as assimilated.
The second tier was “half-assimilation”. Under half-assimilation, all humanoid beings, regardless of sex, would outwardly become identical to the foreign Heavenly Dao, with only their souls remaining unchanged.
The third tier was true “assimilation”. Targets so assimilated would have both body and soul become the same as the foreign Heavenly Dao, turning into that foreign Heavenly Dao’s replicas.
The fourth tier was “advanced assimilation”. Targets of advanced assimilation would not only have body and soul become the same as the foreign Heavenly Dao; their minds would also be captured, making them the foreign Heavenly Dao’s servants.
Qi Huang, upon reading this, finally understood: her current state should be the result of “advanced assimilation”. Not only had her body become identical to Cheng Ling’s, even those few soul-spirits absolutely pledged allegiance to her.
‘So I just need to master how to use this advanced assimilation, and I can subdue them and resolve the headache.’
So thought Qi Huang. She did not know, however, whether this kind of assimilation could be reversed. If it could, then she might yet have hope of becoming a man again.

Lu Yao read on. The text then carefully described the traits of that pink power: because it belonged to a foreign Heavenly Dao, unless it was so dense as to be visible to the naked eye, only those who had been assimilated could detect it with Divine Sense. Immortals or cultivators under the native Heavenly Dao could not probe it. Martial Immortals and malevolent spirits likewise could not perceive it, no matter how high their cultivation.
“No wonder the power of this foreign Heavenly Dao has never been fully eradicated!”
Lu Yao murmured to herself, thoughtful.
Qi Huang, however, found it very strange. She ought to count as one of the assimilated, right? Why, then, had she never been able to detect the assimilating power in her body?
Lu Yao immediately fell into contemplation. If this power could not be probed by Divine Sense and could not be sensed by malevolent spirits, when would she ever find it? After all, the Heavenly Dao’s minions had been purging it for so many years, how many places across the myriad worlds would still have concentrations dense enough to be seen with the naked eye?
“Perhaps I don’t understand enough about this matter. There must be someone who knows a shortcut!”
Lu Yao gradually reached this conclusion and left the inn.
Before long, Lu Yao seized an elder of the Immortal Alliance and brought him to a desolate stretch of the cosmos for interrogation.
“Y-you… who are you? What do you want?”
The Immortal Alliance elder stammered his question. Though his strength had reached the Earth Immortal realm, facing Lu Yao still made his back go cold.
“I have a question about the foreign Heavenly Dao. Answer honestly, or die.”
Lu Yao explained succinctly, then asked, “Those Celestials have always ordered you to purge the foreign Heavenly Dao, correct? But that foreign Heavenly Dao’s power cannot be probed with Divine Sense, so what shortcut is there to discover it?”
“W-we… the remnant power of the foreign Heavenly Dao that we purge… most of it is the kind that’s thick enough to be… to be seen with the naked eye.”
The Immortal Alliance elder stammered his explanation.
“And in the minority of cases? Is there any way to probe the thinner traces of the foreign Heavenly Dao’s power?”

Lu Yao pressed him.
The Immortal Alliance elder kept silent, hesitation on his face.
“Are you going to talk or not?”
Lu Yao struck like lightning. Her razor-sharp zombie claws raked five deep, bloody furrows across the elder’s chest.
“Aaah!”
The elder screamed hysterically, terror flooding his face as he staggered back again and again.
“You should know that my claws carry potent corpse poison. With your level of strength, running will only mean certain death. Confess honestly and you might yet live.”
Lu Yao bared her long fangs. Crimson resentment churned in her eyes.
The elder’s face went ashen. Trembling, he said, “Those assimilated by the foreign Heavenly Dao can use Divine Sense to detect that power, so our Immortal Alliance keeps some of them alive as tools, like hunting hounds.”
“What? You have survivors?”
Lu Yao’s voice abruptly rose. If there were survivors, didn’t that mean she could have one assimilate her directly? Then she would be able to see that pink power, wouldn’t she?
Qi Huang realized the same and grew excited. She felt she was drawing closer and closer to her goal.
“Very well. I’ll go with you. Bring out an assimilated person for me. When it’s done, I will naturally remove the corpse poison from you.”
Lu Yao gave the order.
“If you want an assimilated one, there’s no need to return to the Immortal Alliance headquarters, it’s too dangerous there. I can take you somewhere else to fetch someone for you.”

After thinking for a moment, the elder offered a suggestion.
Lu Yao had no desire to invite complications, so she accepted the plan.
The two headed for one of the Immortal Alliance’s branch altars. After a brief exchange along the way, Lu Yao learned that this elder’s surname was Min.
“Have the remnants of the foreign Heavenly Dao’s power in the Immortal Realm basically been cleaned up by now?”
Lu Yao inquired.
“Yes. In the Immortal Realm, the residual power of the ‘Assimilation Heavenly Dao’ has been mostly purged. So recently the Alliance Leader ordered us to kill some of the excess ‘hounds’.”
Elder Min hurried to add, “By ‘hounds’ I mean those assimilated survivors captured and used by the Immortal Alliance as tools.”
“You call that foreign Heavenly Dao the ‘Assimilation Heavenly Dao’?”
Lu Yao sought confirmation.
“Yes. Because her main ability is assimilation, just as we call the native Heavenly Dao the ‘Five Elements Heavenly Dao.’”
Elder Min explained.
Lu Yao nodded thoughtfully, then guessed, “The one you’re going to give me is an assimilated person slated for execution?”
“Yes. The Immortal Alliance manages the assimilated very strictly. Only those ordered executed do I dare bring out for you.”
Elder Min explained.
They soon arrived at one of the Immortal Alliance’s branch altars. Not daring to play tricks, Elder Min personally went to bring out that assimilated person.

She was a beautiful young girl with red lips and white teeth, hair down to her waist, skin like milk. Only, after long torment, her expression had gone a little vacant.
“When the birds are gone, the bow is put away. Has my death date arrived?”
The girl asked without hope for life.
Qi Huang found none of it surprising. If someone was treated like a “hound”, she needed no imagination to know how much torment this girl had suffered.
“I’ve handed her over to you. Can you remove the corpse poison from me now?”
Elder Min pleaded.
Lu Yao kept her word and immediately withdrew the corpse poison from Elder Min, then let him go. In any case, she knew he would never dare leak a word of this.
“Hurry up and do it. I’ve long since grown tired of living anyway.”
The assimilated girl urged her on.
“I didn’t come to kill you. I only want your help.”
Lu Yao explained impassively. To add weight to her words, she bared her zombie fangs and claws.
“A zombie?”
Startled, the girl retreated step after step, but soon calmed down and asked, “What do you want me to help you with?”
“I need to be assimilated, the most superficial kind. And I need the usage method of this assimilating power.”
Lu Yao stated her request.
