Volume 10, Chapter 649 – Heavenly Slave

At first, Qi Huang was equally excited when she saw those spatial rifts, because they signified a chance to find remnants of the “Assimilation Heavenly Dao” or assimilators, and thereby learn the method of wielding Assimilation Qi. This was also her only possible way to resolve her current predicament.

But when Qi Huang saw what lay beyond those spatial rifts, even her soul trembled. All of these rifts seemed to lead into the same world. That world was brimming with Five Elemental Spiritual Qi, and there wasn’t even a trace of Yin energy. By all accounts, it should have been a world far more idyllic than the cultivation realm she resided in. Yet at this moment, the mountains and rivers were collapsing, the sun and moon were shattered, and the entire universe was riddled with countless spatial fissures. Every celestial body was scarred and broken, the lands were torn apart, and common folk clung desperately to life. As for the cultivators, they had been reduced to nothing but lumps of mangled flesh plastered onto the yellow earth, while rivers ran red with their blood.

“What on earth happened here? It’s like someone tried to exterminate every last cultivator!”

An Xuan’s voice trembled with shock.

“Yes… and it looks like they were all slaughtered in an extremely short span of time. Just what kind of existence could do this?”

Lu Yao’s expression was grave. Even for her, it would be impossible to annihilate all the cultivators of an entire realm within such a short period.

“One? You’re saying the killer was just one person?!”

An Xuan’s expression turned pale with terror.

“That’s right. Look carefully at how they died. Regardless of their cultivation levels, all of them were suppressed instantly by an overwhelming Divine Sense, their bodies crushed into pulp and their souls obliterated. If this wasn’t the work of a single entity, what else could it be?”

Lu Yao explained grimly.

“That’s impossible! Even an immortal of the Heavenly Immortal Realm wouldn’t be able to do something like this in such a short time! And besides, how could such a terrifying existence enter a lower cultivation realm? And why would they even do this?”

An Xuan fired off one question after another.

Qi Huang silently agreed with her doubts. After a brief moment of chaotic thoughts, she speculated: ‘Could it be that this cultivation realm has someone like me? Someone with a frail body but Divine Sense strong enough to surpass even the Heavenly Immortal Realm?’

“Let’s observe the common folk first. Perhaps they know something.”

After pondering for a moment, Lu Yao directed her perception toward the surviving mortals. However, the result was disappointing, these ordinary people only knew that some terrifying existence had recently begun purging cultivators en masse. Beyond that, they knew nothing.

Perhaps driven by curiosity, the master and servant continued watching this shattered world. Before long, they suddenly spotted a rapidly moving soul body in a distant starry expanse!

This soul-body looked much like an ordinary soul, except there was a “奴” character, “slave”, etched between its brows. Its flying speed was absurd. In the blink of an eye, it could “teleport” from one celestial body to another, countless times faster than Lu Yao.

Qi Huang sucked in a cold breath. The speed at which a soul traveled was directly tied to its strength. This meant, indirectly, that this unknown soul was far stronger than Lu Yao by several magnitudes.

Soon after, the soul body “teleported” in front of a massive planet, looking down upon it from above. “Come out. There’s no need to hide.”

“Who is he talking to?”

Lu Yao and An Xuan exchanged a glance.

The planet remained silent. There was no response.

“Hmph, still stubborn?”

The soul body let out a cold snort, and with a single thought, his powerful Divine Sense condensed into a colossal hand that smashed through the surrounding space and reached deep into the planet. As though plucking an item from a bag, he dragged out a white-haired old man.

BOOM…!

The enormous star, destabilized by the force of spatial rupture, exploded violently. Waves of destructive force spread in all directions, sweeping across the surrounding starry domain.

And yet, the soul body stood unshaken amidst the raging shockwaves, like a mountain unmoved by wind and rain. Even the old man in his grasp remained entirely unaffected.

The captured white-haired elder panicked. He unleashed his full power, channeling both his Divine Realm cultivation and Divine Sense into an all-out assault on the soul body. His attacks nearly tore apart the surrounding space, but they had absolutely no effect.

Qi Huang’s heart sank further. Judging by his strength, this elder had clearly reached the peak of the Heavenly Tribulation Realm. Unlike her, he wasn’t a crippled cultivator. And yet, in this soul body’s grip, he was as helpless as a newborn chick.

“Hmph. Ant.”

The soul body sneered in contempt.

“How did you find me? I was certain I concealed myself perfectly.”

The old man struggled, his voice filled with disbelief.

“You thought splashing Heaven-Deceiving Water on yourself would keep you safe? My Divine Sense covers the entire universe. Nothing escapes my eyes. And in a place like this, what else could move but a cultivator?”

The soul body smiled proudly.

“Who are you? Why are you slaughtering cultivators?”

The old man’s tone turned furious as he realized his hiding had been for nothing.

“Pitiful. You must be the last cultivator in this world, aren’t you? How utterly boring.”

The soul body looked disappointed, then muttered to himself, “I was careless and killed them too quickly. If I go back now, they’ll think this world was easy to clear…”

After murmuring, he finally turned back to the elder and said, “For the sake of performance records, I’ll let you die knowing the truth. I am a Heavenly Slave.”

“Heavenly Slave? What is that?”

The white-haired elder frowned in confusion.

“So ignorant. Truly befitting of a dog.”

The contempt on the soul body’s face deepened.

“What? You dare call me a dog?!”

The elder roared in anger, but no matter how desperately he resisted, he couldn’t shake the grip even slightly.

“You don’t even know what a Heavenly Slave is. If you’re not livestock, then what are you?”

The soul body spat venomously, then explained, “Beneath the Five Elements Heavenly Dao exist countless worlds, divided into three tiers. Worlds without Spiritual Qi are classified as lower realms. Those with Spiritual Qi, like yours, are middle realms. Above that lies the realm of immortals, what you call the Immortal Realm. And at the very top is the Celestial Realm, where the Heavenly Dao itself resides. We are the slaves of the Heavenly Dao.”

“Then you’re slaughtering cultivators… because we defy the Heavenly Dao?”

The elder guessed grimly.

“Correct. Do you think the Heavenly Dao would allow you to rebel against it?”

The Heavenly Slave’s face showed reverent devotion as he spoke.

“I don’t understand. The cultivation world has existed for countless ages, and every generation of cultivators shouts about defying the heavens. Why take action only now?”

The elder pressed on.

“Dogs have the duty to guard the house. You cultivators are tasked with purging Yin energy from your world. Now that the Yin energy here has been completely cleansed, naturally, it’s time to send you off.”

The Heavenly Slave’s lips curled into a faint smile.

‘I see…’

At that moment, Qi Huang’s deepest doubts were resolved. She had long wondered: since cultivators were said to defy the heavens, why had the Heavenly Dao tolerated them for so long? Now she finally understood, the Heavenly Dao allowed cultivators to exist because it needed them to clear Yin energy. And once the Yin energy was gone… cultivators themselves would be purged.

“So that’s it. We cultivators are nothing but tools of the Heavenly Dao. Once the Yin energy vanishes, we’re discarded like worn-out donkeys after grinding wheat.”

The white-haired elder finally understood as well.

“Exactly. Unfortunately, you realized it too late.”

The Heavenly Slave mocked him coldly.

“Not too late. As long as I managed to rid this world of Yin energy and allowed mortals to live good lives, I have no regrets.”

The elder smiled with calm acceptance.

“As expected of the Immortal Alliance’s leader. Noble in spirit, but unfortunately, such virtue is worthless in this venerable one’s eyes.”

The Heavenly Slave’s smile was icy and disdainful.

“Hah! A mere slave to the Heavenly Dao dares to call himself ‘this venerable one’? How shameless.”

The white-haired elder laughed scornfully.

“Courting death!”

The Heavenly Slave exploded in fury. His Divine Sense hand clenched violently, crushing the elder’s body and soul into nothingness.

‘How can there be such an enormous gap between the two of them…?’

Qi Huang felt a wave of pity wash over her.

After killing the elder, the Heavenly Slave seemed unsatisfied. He roamed the cosmos for a while, searching carefully, before finally arriving at a spatial rift. Bowing respectfully, he reported: “Lord Heavenly Servant, all cultivators have been cleansed. There’s no need to keep the Five Elemental Spiritual Qi in this world.”

“Mm.”

A voice responded from within the spatial rift.

In the next instant, the entire cultivation realm began to undergo drastic changes. The Five Elemental Spiritual Qi surged together, forming vast rivers of energy that flowed into the rift.

Before long, all of the realm’s Spiritual Qi vanished entirely. There wasn’t a single trace left. This demotion meant that the realm had fallen from a middle world to a lower world. From this moment onward, no mortal here could ever become a cultivator again.

Having completed his task, the Heavenly Slave’s figure disappeared into the spatial rift.
