Volume 10, Chapter 684 – You’re Still Apologizing

Qi Huang’s reckless action not only frightened the baits into stunned silence but also caught the entire Immortal Alliance off guard. One by one, they all stood frozen, staring blankly at her.

“What ‘this fairy’? I didn’t hear clearly, say that again?”

Cheng Hongling narrowed her beautiful eyes slightly as she questioned her, her sharp reaction not without reason. After all, there was always the possibility that her doppelgänger might completely feminize at any moment.

“Ah? This… this immortal! This immortal! Sorry, it just slipped out of habit. I definitely didn’t mean to refer to myself like that.”

Qi Huang awkwardly corrected herself.

At this moment, the people from the Immortal Alliance finally came back to their senses. Zheng Chi also narrowed his eyes slightly and stepped forward, demanding, “What did you just say? I didn’t hear you clearly. Say it again.”

“You didn’t hear it clearly? Then I’ll repeat it.”

Qi Huang asked doubtfully, then turned around, boldly gazing at the group of baits as she declared, “I announce that from now on, these baits belong to this immortal.”

The group of baits stared at one another, wide-eyed, before quickly retreating several steps, afraid their intelligence might be affected if blood splattered on them. Only the female disciples of the Honghua Sect and the three princesses, Tang Yuning and her sisters, did not move.

“Looks like they don’t seem willing to go with you!”

Zheng Chi mocked.

“Of course, I’m not someone who likes forcing others. If you want to continue serving as bait for the Immortal Alliance, that’s perfectly fine.”

Qi Huang replied with remarkable generosity.

“Are you stupid? If you keep serving as bait for the Immortal Alliance, you’ll be chopped into pieces later. Hurry up and come over here!”

Ruan Lingyu urged anxiously.

“That’s right. If you follow my junior sister, not only can you safely leave this Kapok Valley Treasure Land, but any heavenly materials and earthly treasures you find will be yours. Can the Immortal Alliance promise you that?”

Yun Fei coaxed persuasively.

“You’re making me laugh. What gives you the confidence to make such bold promises? Do you have any idea how dangerous this Kapok Valley Treasure Land is? There are no less than ten malevolent spirits inside, each comparable to cultivators in the Heavenly Tribulation Realm.”

Zheng Chi sneered and tried to intimidate them before turning to the baits: “Be obedient and stay as bait for the Immortal Alliance. That way, even if you die, I, Elder Zheng, guarantee your Life Souls will be safely escorted out. But if you follow them, I fear even your Life Souls won’t survive.”

The girls exchanged uncertain glances, not knowing what to do.

“So, you’re doubting my strength, huh?”

Qi Huang sighed and shook her head helplessly before turning to the Immortal Alliance group: “Since they can’t decide, let’s have you Immortal Alliance people set an example. I want this group of baits, who agrees and who opposes? Those who oppose, raise your hands. But let me remind you, raising your hand recklessly might get you killed.”

“Hahaha…”

Zheng Chi burst into laughter upon hearing this. He glanced around and said, “Brothers, everyone, raise your hands! I want to see how she dares kill you right under this elder’s nose.”

“I oppose! I want to see you try to kill me!”

“I oppose as well! If you want to kill me, better seize the chance, or else it’ll be our turn to kill you later!”

“You can oppose all you want, but why are you pulling up my left hand?!”

“Why aren’t you raising your hand? Are you afraid of her?”

“Didn’t you see I already raised my right hand? Do you want me to raise my feet too?”

“That’s even better! It’s been a long time since we’ve seen anyone dare challenge the Immortal Alliance. If we don’t raise all four limbs, we’d be letting her courage go to waste!”

Hearing this, most of the Immortal Alliance disciples laughed and raised their hands, some even flying into the air to raise both hands and feet at once.

“And what about those who aren’t raising their hands? Do you not trust this elder to protect you? Do you even want to stay in the Immortal Alliance anymore?”

Zheng Chi spoke with dissatisfaction.

At his words, the few who hadn’t raised their hands hesitated but eventually lifted them too.

“They’ve all raised their hands. So what now?”

Zheng Chi smiled smugly, taunting Qi Huang.

“What now? Now, of course, you all die.”

Qi Huang smiled sweetly, but in that instant, her immense Divine Sense surged out like a tidal wave. It gathered above her head into a massive circular ring that rapidly expanded before crashing down from the heavens.

BOOM…!

The colossal ring twisted the very space around it before slamming heavily into the ground, perfectly enclosing the outer ring of Immortal Alliance disciples within its radius. Dust billowed into the air, and amidst it came faint, chilling cracks of shattering bones.

Zheng Chi’s expression stiffened as he slowly turned his head. Extending his Divine Sense through the swirling dust, he saw a massive ring-shaped trench nearly thirty meters wide carved into the ground. His hundreds of disciples had been reduced to mangled flesh, their remains mixed with the earth at the bottom of the trench. Only their bewildered Life Souls escaped, drifting aimlessly.

“W-We’re dead? I… I’m dead?!”

“It looks like… she killed us by suppressing us with Divine Sense!”

“This… this can’t be real! How does she have… such terrifying Divine Sense? One strike, and she wiped out hundreds of us cultivators above the Incarnation Realm?!”

The hundreds of Life Souls wailed in disbelief. If not for a few surviving elders, they might have died a second time from sheer terror.

“You can’t blame me for this. It was Elder Zheng who forced you to raise your hands.”

Qi Huang explained innocently.

“Elder Zheng, why didn’t you save us?!”

“Elder Zheng, I didn’t even want to raise my hand! You forced me! Now I’m dead, are you going to take responsibility?!”

“This is unfair! I was forced to raise my hand too! Why should I be killed for it? Elder Zheng, give me back my life!”

The Life Souls surged toward Elder Zheng angrily.

Zheng Chi finally regained his senses and quickly retreated several steps, fear flashing in his eyes. The other three elders also showed similar caution.

“How is she so strong?!”

The baits stared at Qi Huang in disbelief. Never in their wildest dreams did they expect a wolf in sheep’s clothing among them, one who had just torn the self-proclaimed hunters to shreds.

“Elder Zheng, didn’t you say you’d protect them? Why didn’t you? Could it be you didn’t want to… or you couldn’t?”

Qi Huang teased playfully.

Zheng Chi looked wary, too shaken to even muster a rebuttal.

“Ladies, you can decide now, right? Will you follow the Immortal Alliance, or me?”

Qi Huang turned back to the baits.

This time, they didn’t hesitate. The entire group surged toward Qi Huang, like bees to a hive. Since following the Immortal Alliance was certain death, they might as well gamble on her.

“Oh dear, poor Elder Zheng. Now you’ve lost all your baits and become a commander without troops. When you return, how will you explain this to the Alliance Leader? I’m worried for you already.”

Qi Huang said mockingly.

“Who exactly are you?”

Zheng Chi gritted his teeth. He’d intended to save his disciples earlier, but the woman’s sudden strike and the sheer speed of her Divine Sense left him no chance to react.

“I’m Wenren Yu’s doppelgänger, remember? Didn’t you see me come out of her Sea of Consciousness?”

Qi Huang answered with a playful smirk.

“That’s impossible! Absolutely impossible! Wenren Yu is so young! Forget a doppelgänger, even her true body couldn’t possibly have such terrifying Divine Sense!”

Zheng Chi slowly summoned his sword, the other three elders following suit.

“Hey, hey, Elder Kang, didn’t you say I was your life mentor? How could you raise your sword against your own teacher?”

Qi Huang reminded.

“Sorry, I was forced to draw it! They all drew theirs, and if I didn’t, I’d be the odd one out!”

Elder Kang explained awkwardly.

“And when they charge later, are you going to charge too?”

Qi Huang asked, amused.

“Sorry, I’m afraid I’ll have to be forced into charging as well.”

Elder Kang’s guilt deepened.

“You’re still apologizing. Still apologizing!”

Zheng Chi roared, nearly leaping in rage.

“I’ll warn you now: forced charge or not, a charge is still a charge. I will not forgive anyone who comes at me. Before you attack, you’d better ask your heart if you’re ready to die.”

Qi Huang warned gravely. If the old man dared attack her, she wouldn’t hold back this time.

“Why does that sound so strange to me?”

Ruan Lingyu frowned, touching her smooth chin.

“Really? What’s strange about it? Sounds normal to me.”

Yun Fei blinked, puzzled.

“Such blasphemous nonsense! You little wretch dare slaughter hundreds of my Immortal Alliance disciples and even muddle the mind of one of our elders? If we don’t eradicate a traitor like you today, then I, Elder Zheng, would be the one carrying true guilt!”

Zheng Chi roared furiously. In an instant, a special robe crafted from Nine Nether Demon Cat fur manifested on his body. Then, like a ghost, he vanished into thin air. A cold sword light flashed, slicing through the fragile air itself, striking straight toward Qi Huang’s delicate neck.
