“Bring them in first. I want to see exactly what’s going on!”

Wenren Jun ordered the servant standing outside the door.

Not long after, Qi Huang and the others were led into the study by the servant.

“Old Master Wenren, Master Wenren, shocked or not, surprised or not? We’ve returned safe and sound.”

The moment Qi Huang entered, she teased openly, no longer bothering to pretend since she had already obtained the Golden Fate Blossom seeds.

“Shocked, yes. Happy? Not quite.”

Wenren Jun forced a stiff smile onto his face. Deep down, his greatest wish had been for Qi Huang and her companions to die inside the Kapok Valley Treasure Land.

“What’s that supposed to mean? Aren’t you happy to see us return unharmed?”

Shen Yuan asked angrily.

“Not exactly unhappy.”

Wenren Jun offered a hypocritical defense before continuing, “Judging by the timeline, you should have just arrived at Kapok Valley not long ago. Even if everything went perfectly, it’s impossible for you to be back so soon. Could it be that you encountered some unexpected accident and gave up halfway?”

“So that’s what this is about! Old Master Wenren was worried we didn’t complete the mission!”

Qi Huang said in an exaggerated tone of sudden realization. She then took out a freshly plucked Golden Fate Blossom seed and placed it on the table. “This is the Golden Fate Blossom seed we owe you. We’re returning it as promised.”

The Wenren father and son were both stunned, staring blankly. They exchanged a glance and could clearly see confusion and disbelief reflected in each other’s eyes.

“Where did you get this Golden Fate Blossom seed?”

After a long silence, Wenren Jun finally picked up the seed and asked.

“Of course, we obtained it from the Kapok Valley Treasure Land.”

Qi Huang replied truthfully.

“Don’t lie to me. I told you before, I only want a fresh seed.”

Wenren Jun warned, scrutinizing it carefully.

“Can’t you tell whether it’s fresh or not? One sweep of your Divine Sense will make it clear.”

Qi Huang spoke evenly.

“We performed outstandingly, so the Immortal Alliance rewarded us with one. That’s all there is to it.”

Qi Huang answered casually.

“Nonsense! The Immortal Alliance has never rewarded anyone with a fresh Golden Fate Blossom seed. Not even inner disciples who performed incredible feats have received one, let alone outsiders like you!”

Wenren Jun obviously didn’t believe her.

“Believe it or not, we’ve kept our promise. So, are you going to let us leave now?”

Qi Huang’s tone carried a probing edge. If they were smart, she had no intention of resorting to force.

“That won’t do! Who knows if you acquired this Golden Fate Blossom seed through illegal means? If so, you’ll implicate our Wenren family!”

Wenren Jun shamelessly refused.

“Exactly. Logically speaking, it’s impossible for you to return so quickly. That leads me to suspect you never even went to Kapok Valley at all and instead used some shady methods to get a seed just to appease us.”

Wenren Qing added coldly.

“Are you kidding me? You’ve already received your payment! Do you really think the Immortal Alliance would let us run away without completing the task?”

Shen Yuan was furious, stunned that even after receiving a fresh Golden Fate Blossom seed, they were still being this unreasonable.

“Besides… do you think fresh Golden Fate Blossom seeds are so easy to obtain? Why don’t you try getting one yourself and show us?”

Ruan Lingyu retorted angrily.

“I don’t care. If you want us to believe you, you’ll have to come with us to the Immortal Alliance headquarters to confirm the matter.”

Wenren Jun asked calmly, acting as though he had them completely under control.

Qi Huang initially intended to argue further but quickly realized there was no point. Since her objectives were already achieved, wasting words was unnecessary. She admitted openly, “Forget it. I won’t act anymore. Fine, I’ll be honest, no, this seed wasn’t a reward from the Immortal Alliance.”

“Oh? Finally admitting it?”

Wenren Jun arched an eyebrow, then asked curiously, “So now I’m even more interested, how exactly did you obtain this Golden Fate Blossom seed?”

“I killed three elders of the Immortal Alliance, including the Grand Elder Zheng Chi.”

Qi Huang replied calmly.

Wenren Qing laughed while speaking.

Wenren Jun was startled as well, his smile freezing instantly. It took him several long moments to react, his legs twitching as he prepared to stand.

“Sit down.”

Qi Huang ordered coldly. Her Divine Sense crashed down on him, forcing Wenren Jun back into his chair.

Only then did Wenren Qing finally react, instinctively trying to struggle. But no matter how he fought, he couldn’t break free from the grip of Qi Huang’s Divine Sense. Sweat drenched his entire body.

Qi Huang asked mockingly.

“Come on, laugh! Why’d you stop laughing? Don’t you want to laugh anymore?”

Shen Yuan mimicked Qi Huang’s tone, her voice dripping with sarcasm.

The rest of the senior and junior sisters burst into laughter.

Your true goal was to make us serve as scapegoats for the Wenren family’s young misses, wasn’t it? That’s why you looked so disappointed when you saw us return safely!”
