Volume 11, Chapter 738 – I Cannot Even Manage to Kill Myself
“Huh?”
The moment the few female souls heard these words, their expressions turned pale with terror, and they immediately pleaded with Cheng Hongling.
“Elder sister, please, don’t commit suicide! You promised us that you would make us into doppelgängers.”
“Wuwuwu… elder sister, ever since we were born we have never even breathed a single mouthful of air. You can’t be so cruel to us!”
“Elder sister, wuwuwu… the cultivation world is so exciting. I still want to go out and see that dazzling world. I can’t resign myself to dispersing like this!”
“Elder sister, our parents raised us with such hardship. At least let me call them Father and Mother once, let them know they had a daughter like me. That way I can die without regrets.”
The four female souls wept in misery, their grief unbearable.
“You are my sisters, I don’t wish to do this either, but the circumstances force me…”
Cheng Hongling’s eyes grew slightly red. Steadying herself, she said, “Think about it carefully. Once you are controlled by her thoughts, your main consciousness will also disappear. That is the same as death. Would you rather die without meaning, or take this traitor down with you?”
The eyes of the souls gradually cleared, and they fixed murderous gazes upon Cheng Ling. After all, they shared the same essence as Cheng Hongling, their natures similar.
“Don’t worry, sisters, I solemnly promise you: as long as you submit to me, I will never use mental control against you. I will only assimilate you.”
Cheng Ling hurried to declare.
“Really?”
Once again, hope for survival flickered in the eyes of the female souls.
“Of course it’s true. We are sisters. I am not some cold-blooded, heartless person. As long as you obey, how could I bear to exterminate you all?”
Cheng Ling vowed solemnly.

“You really believe her nonsense? Do you still remember what she just said? How can you trust such a fickle woman?”
Cheng Hongling shouted angrily.
Thus began the accusations between Cheng Hongling and Cheng Ling.
In truth, Cheng Hongling was not one for many words. But she knew the longer time dragged on, the slimmer her opponent’s chance of overturning the situation. So she deliberately wasted time.
As the fragment’s erosion spread through the body, all seven corporeal souls suffered torment. Even the heroic soul Cheng Qi and the refined soul Cheng Jing, both in the Honghua Sect, sent transmissions by thought asking Cheng Hongling what was happening.
At the same time, Qi Huang, within the storage ring, was also affected. For some reason, vague shadows of familiar people appeared in her mind. She tried hard to make them out, but could not pierce through the pink fog.
The pain increased, leaving Cheng Ling no mood to bicker with Cheng Hongling. Anxiously, she demanded of Qi Huang, “With such powerful Divine Sense, you cannot think of a way? What use are you then?”
Qi Huang trembled, but suddenly a flash of inspiration lit her mind. She hastily reported, “Elder sister, I have thought of a way.”
“What way?”
Cheng Ling asked, overjoyed.
“I once practiced the Doppelgänger Method with Cheng Hongling. As long as I smear Anemia Paste upon her body, I can usurp control of this vessel. Then I will be able to wield True Qi to resist the fragment’s erosion.”
“Then what are you waiting for? Hurry!”
Cheng Ling urged impatiently.
Qi Huang dared not delay. She quickly stripped the main body bare, then took out the Anemia Paste and spread it over the skin. In the past, she might have harbored stray thoughts, but now that snow-white body, laid completely bare, was to her like a pig slaughtered during a festival, she only wished to rub “salt” upon it.
Although Qi Huang’s hands moved swiftly, the fragment’s spread still outpaced her. As the Yin energy spread, Cheng Ling’s soul grew weaker, while the vague shadows in her mind became clearer.

Under Cheng Ling’s constant urging, Qi Huang finally coated the main body in Anemia Paste, then immediately turned inward, entering the Sea of Consciousness.
Once within, she rushed into that vast ocean, seizing control of the glistening, naked body.
“Mmm… ah…”
Her rosy lips parted with a soft, feminine cry. Because of the Yin energy’s overwhelming erosion, it felt as though she were engulfed in raging fire, every inch of flesh in agony.
Qi Huang clenched her teeth, forcing herself to endure, and then began circulating what remained of True Qi to resist the yin energy.
Though little True Qi remained, Qi Huang was unafraid. Her Divine Sense was powerful, and when she activated the Water Exquisite Art, she could swiftly draw in more True Qi. She could wage a long battle.
As time passed, the Yin energy was gradually pressed back by Qi Huang.
Even more astonishing was what happened next: because of the residual power of the Heaven-Mending Crystal within Cheng Hongling’s body, once the Yin energy retreated, new flesh began to regenerate.
“This Heaven-Mending Crystal truly is a holy medicine. No wonder the Immortal Alliance racked their brains to obtain it.”
Qi Huang could not help but marvel again.
With both forces combined, Cheng Hongling’s body began to recover, and the seven corporeal souls also felt their torment ease.
“Haha, it seems Heaven stands with me. Your end has come.”
Cheng Ling’s spirit shone once more.
“What is going on?”
Cheng Hongling looked around in confusion.

“All thanks to the one you love. She used the Doppelgänger Method to seize your body, then wielded True Qi to suppress the fragment.”
Cheng Ling sneered.
“I cannot even manage to kill myself?”
Cheng Hongling’s expression changed drastically. Closing her eyes in pain, she realized that for all her scheming, she still could not save Qi Huang.
“Doesn’t betrayal by the one you love sting? If you had chosen me back then, would you be in such a state now? You reap what you sow.”
Cheng Ling added fuel to the fire.
Cheng Hongling did not reply. Her immense Divine Sense suddenly surged without warning toward Cheng Ling, determined to make a final struggle.
Although Qi Huang was busy suppressing the fragment, she always kept part of her attention on the hall of the Sea of Consciousness. At once she released her Divine Sense to shield Cheng Ling.
Cheng Hongling’s attack struck Qi Huang’s barrier of Divine Sense without raising even a ripple. Yet she did not give up, continuing to press her Divine Sense forward stubbornly, like a defiant little girl.
The three male souls nearby did not simply stand by. They too unleashed their Divine Sense against Cheng Ling. But their gap with Qi Huang was far too great; numbers could not bridge it. They could not budge her defenses.
Though splitting her focus, Qi Huang still forced the Yin energy back into the fragment, then returned to the Sea of Consciousness hall.
“Reporting, elder sister, I have suppressed the fragment.”
Qi Huang bowed respectfully, and with a wave of Divine Sense, bound Cheng Hongling and the three male souls.
“Haha, well done! I actually find myself liking you.”
Cheng Ling patted Qi Huang’s shoulder with admiration, then sighed in false pity. “A pity, though, you have only one body. Among us, only one can live. You won’t blame me, will you?”

“How could I? To sacrifice for elder sister is my honor.”
Qi Huang quickly pledged loyalty.
“Very good. I will remember your devotion. After you die, I will erect for you a monument greater than the Immortal Stele.”
Cheng Ling spoke generously, then strode toward the three male souls. “Alright, now we continue.”
The three male souls turned pale with fright, retreating in panic.
“Don’t be afraid. I swear you will love being girls. Not only will you be beautiful, you’ll wear splendid dresses, cherished by parents in the palms of their hands. You won’t be forced to do what you cannot, for you’ll be daughters. What you can do, you won’t need to do yourself, for there will be plenty of men groveling at your feet. Isn’t that far better than being a stinking man?”
Cheng Ling coaxed gently, then ordered Qi Huang, “Bind them well for me. I am going to begin assimilation.”
“Rest assured, elder sister.”
Qi Huang replied respectfully.
“Excellent!”
Cheng Ling’s smile stretched to trembling lips. She gathered the pink power of assimilation and slowly pressed her palm toward Huang Tian’s chest, saying as she did: “Bid farewell to your life as men.”
Cheng Hongling’s eyes nearly burst, and she struggled desperately, her delicate body trembling violently with the effort. She knew that once these three male souls were assimilated, Qi Huang would no longer be a puppet, but be utterly destroyed.
Just as Cheng Ling’s assimilation-charged hand was about to press against Huang Tian’s chest, it was suddenly caught in the grasp of a hand of Divine Sense, unable to advance another inch.
All faces filled with shock, and everyone turned toward the direction from which that Divine Sense arm had come.
