Volume 11, Chapter 762 – I, Am the Immortal Might (Part 1)
“You mean by setting a fire, you are referring to…”
Elder Qiu asked uncertainly.
“Isn’t there one of the top ten most dangerous places of the cultivation world in the western region of the Mingyue Empire, the Panyun Mountain Bottomless Pit? How powerful is the source of Yin energy there?”
Lu Lin reminded with a faint smile that was not quite a smile.
“Judging by the concentration of Yin energy, it’s at least at the early stage of the Demonic Realm, equivalent to the early or even mid-stage of a cultivator’s Heavenly Tribulation Realm…”
Elder Qiu replied reflexively, but then his eyes lit up: “Alliance Leader, I understand what to do.”
“As long as you understand. I’ll leave this matter to you. I want the entire cultivation world to know that the Immortal Stele of Huarong Sect is nothing but an empty shell.”
Lu Lin smiled with satisfaction, then added: “Of course, before the first day of next month, the other rebellious factions cannot be left comfortable either. Elders, hear my command: dispatch all idle disciples of the Immortal Alliance to the territories of these rebels. Cause destruction, make their lives unbearable.”
“Yes!”
Hundreds of elders answered firmly and powerfully.
The Mingyue Empire was the most powerful nation of the Southern Continent, not only vast in territory but also holding dozens of vassal states. All of this was thanks to the strength of Huarong Sect. But now that the Immortal Alliance had spread word that Huarong Sect’s Immortal Stele was only an empty shell, many unscrupulous elements began to stir, leaving the entire empire in turmoil.
Cheng Tian understood clearly that all she needed to do was step out and let Qi Huang release a bit of Immortal Might to intimidate, and the entire Mingyue Empire would calm down. Yet Qi Huang refused.
Qi Huang’s reasoning was simple: mere intimidation was only a temporary fix. Without cutting out the cancer at its root, an outbreak was inevitable sooner or later. Thus, those vermin must be given time to gather, so that they could all be wiped out in one fell swoop.
Cheng Tian realized this, and so she delayed her actions. But this left Huarong Sect restless. Without evidence of the Immortal Might’s presence, villains eyed them covetously, disciples dared not step outside the sect gates, and what of the ordinary people of the Mingyue Empire?
Hua Ruyi could no longer hold back and personally went to Cheng Tian to demand fulfillment of her promise.
“Holy Maiden, you said you would go out and take a few steps to prove that Huarong Sect is still protected by the Immortal Stele. Is this true or false? If you only said it to steady hearts, then at least tell me so. I’ll think of another solution!”

Hua Ruyi almost begged in her tone.
“Of course it’s true. It’s just that the time has not yet come. Sect Master Hua need not be anxious.”
Cheng Tian replied calmly, her voice steady.
“How can I not be anxious? Without witnessing the Immortal Might, those villains will continue to lurk outside. The disciples won’t dare leave the sect, and what of the common folk?”
Hua Ruyi was so anxious that she was pacing in circles.
“Rest assured, the common folk will not be harmed.”
Cheng Tian remained unhurried in her reply.
After several attempts of persuasion failed, Hua Ruyi could only unwillingly give up.
At this point, Grand Elder Hua Man also realized Huarong Sect’s predicament, and personally intervened, stabilizing the empire’s situation… at least temporarily.
But misfortune rarely comes alone. At that very moment, in the western Mingyue Empire, that terrifying perilous ground suddenly “inexplicably” erupted. Dense Yin energy mixed with endless malevolent spirits spread outward.
Hua Man had no choice but to focus her efforts on the Panyun Mountain Bottomless Pit. Yet the root of the Yin energy there was abnormally powerful, forcing her into retreat again and again.
At the brink of despair, a mysterious expert descended from the heavens, aiding her to barely seal the Bottomless Pit.
This mysterious expert was none other than Qi Huang’s doppelgänger, Huang Jing, the once Essence Soul.
Huang Jing’s divine sense was at the level of the fifth layer of the Heavenly Tribulation Realm. If she wished, she could single-handedly suppress the Bottomless Pit. But she could not do that, because everything now was meant to set the stage for her true self.
Though Hua Man, with Huang Jing’s aid, managed to seal the Bottomless Pit, she could no longer free herself. The rest of the Mingyue Empire once again fell into disorder.

Qi Huang felt that the fish had all entered the net, and thus notified Cheng Tian to begin.
Cheng Tian let out a long breath of relief, her figure vanishing from her chamber.
She flew above Huarong Sect and loudly proclaimed: “Disciples of Huarong Sect, hear me! Tomorrow at one quarter past the hour of Si 1 巳 (sì), 09:00 – 10:00 AM , this Holy Maiden will personally proceed to the Panyun Mountain Bottomless Pit to annihilate the root of its Yin energy, to prove the supreme might of Huarong Sect’s Immortal Stele!”
“Wuuuu, the Holy Maiden is finally fulfilling her promise.”
The disciples nearly wept in relief upon hearing this. Only they knew what they had endured these days, not daring to leave the sect, lying awake at night in fear of enemies storming in.
Yet Hua Ruyi still could not calm her heart. After all, only she and Hua Man knew the truth: the Immortal Stele of Huarong Sect truly was nothing but an empty shell.
She wanted to stop Cheng Tian, but in the end gave up. At this point, a dying horse must be treated like a living one.
The news spread quickly. Opponents of Huarong Sect began to gather, evil spirits grew restless, all intent on strangling the “monster” Holy Maiden in her cradle.
Elder Qiu of the Immortal Alliance immediately reported the matter to Lu Lin.
“Good! Excellent! I will send several powerful elders to assist you. This time you must kill her. Once she dies, both Cheng Hongling and Qi Huang will vanish as well. One of the Immortal Alliance’s greatest threats will be eliminated.”
Lu Lin ordered with excitement.
“Even so, Alliance Leader must order disciples to keep strict watch on Cheng Hongling and Qi Huang of the Honghua Sect. If they rush to support her, we’re finished.”
Elder Qiu voiced his concern.
“Do not worry. They can only guard their own nest now. Otherwise, their rear will be left vulnerable. Besides, even if they came to aid her, it would take several hours to arrive. You’ll have plenty of time to retreat.”
Lu Lin soothed him with solid reasoning.
Elder Qiu found it convincing, and the heavy stone on his chest gradually lifted.

The next morning, Cheng Tian fulfilled her promise and departed Huarong Sect before countless watching eyes.
Hua Ruyi, still uneasy, brought along the sect’s strongest elders to guard her personally. Dozens of disciples followed as witnesses.
As her master, Shi Yuqi naturally joined as well, though she looked anything but nervous, because her trust in her disciple was absolute.
“I say, little Tiantian, this so-called Immortal Might of yours… it isn’t just waiting for your main body to display it, is it?”
Shi Yuqi asked in a low voice.
“How could that be possible?”
Cheng Tian gave a helpless smile, then said: “If my main body could display Immortal Might, she would have ascended already.”
“That’s true!”
Shi Yuqi nodded reflexively, then her eyes lit up: “Then it must be Qi Huang who will display it. She cultivates only divine sense. Even if she reaches the Immortal Realm, she won’t ascend.”
“You really dare to guess anything!”
Cheng Tian was speechless, thinking, ‘You sure do have faith in your disciple. At this rate, I can hardly cover it up anymore.’
The Huarong Sect party moved further away from the capital, and tens of thousands followed to watch. Most were cultivators of the Mingyue Empire. Depending on Huarong Sect’s protection, they naturally cared deeply about the matter of the Immortal Stele.
Of course, not all were mere onlookers. Many waited for a chance to strike.
These past few days, Qi Huang had used divine sense to carefully monitor the empire. She knew exactly who the ill-intentioned were.
Cheng Tian understood her purpose well, so she flew neither too fast nor too slow, ensuring that anyone who wanted to watch, or plot trouble, would be able to keep up.

The Huarong Sect entourage moved steadily westward, leaving the capital further behind.
“So this Holy Maiden of Huarong Sect really intends to go to the Panyun Mountain Bottomless Pit? It’s said the root of the Yin energy there is terrifyingly strong. Even Elder Hua Man exhausted all her strength just to temporarily seal it.”
“For her to be so bold, Huarong Sect’s Immortal Stele must still be intact! After all, no evil spirit, however strong, could withstand Immortal Might.”
“Impossible. Huarong Sect’s Immortal Stele is definitely ruined.”
“And why are you so certain?”
“The reason is simple. If the Immortal Stele were intact, Elder Hua only needed to inscribe her name upon it. To deal with a mere evil spirit would be nothing. Why would the Holy Maiden need to come out personally?”
“That makes sense. Then why would she still dare to come out?”
“Perhaps she believes Huarong Sect is strong enough to protect her.”
“What use is that? She needs to prove the Immortal Stele is intact, not just save her life!”
“Why are you so stubborn? As long as they lure out the enemies of Huarong Sect and slaughter them, won’t that also display their strength? The effect is the same.”
“An ideal fantasy. The reality is harsh. This time, everyone who bears enmity against Huarong Sect has probably come. The evil spirits too. More importantly, the Immortal Alliance surely won’t miss such a chance. Who will kill whom?”
Those trailing behind the entourage debated hotly.
Perhaps their words carried too much of a tempting lure. When Huarong Sect’s party reached a remote prairie, the first wave of villains finally could not hold back.
“Kill!”
With a loud roar, dozens of black shadows broke from the crowd and, like lightning, rushed toward the Huarong Sect entourage.
