Volume 13, Chapter 832 – I’m Best at Acting

Qi Huang stood with her arms crossed, watching calmly. The material used to craft this spatial ring was exceptionally durable, and she often used it as a “protective charm.” How could a mere cultivator in the Incarnation Realm possibly break it?

Clang, clang, clang…

Sure enough, sparks flickered again and again. Fairy Yuan’s breathing grew heavy. Eventually, drained of stamina, she had to stop her assault. Her delicate jade hands trembled almost imperceptibly.

“Fairy Yuan? How is it? Still can’t break through?”

The girl beside her asked eagerly, full of anticipation.

“Don’t worry. I will break it.”

Fairy Yuan bit her pearly teeth together, then forced herself to gather True Qi and resume hacking away. Due to the increasing strain, sweat beaded on her skin. A small red mole to the right of her nose became damp, adding an alluring touch. Unfortunately, that very mark was the reason she had been captured.

Qi Huang felt a trace of sympathy and began to ponder how best to deal with these girls.

After some thought, Qi Huang realized she had two options. First: do nothing, and let them accompany her to meet that demon. The benefit was that it would be simple and efficient; the downside was that once they arrived in the Immortal Realm, she couldn’t guarantee the girls’ safety. The second option was to find a way to free them now, preventing others from being dragged into danger, but this might alert the enemy prematurely.

After weighing the pros and cons, Qi Huang ultimately decided that rescuing the girls now was the better choice. After all, she had no idea what dangers awaited them in the Immortal Realm.

Just as she was about to make a move, the voices of Deputy Commander Guo and Wei Zhuo began drifting in from outside.

“Deputy Commander Guo, what level of strength is our lord at?”

Wei Zhuo asked.

“Why are you asking that?”

Guo replied impatiently.

“I just think General Sha died in vain… I wonder if our lord will avenge him.”

Wei Zhuo spoke with false sincerity. In truth, he only cared about venting his own resentment. Qi Huang had publicly exposed his identity as a zombie outside the Immortal Alliance’s gates, and he had been brooding over it ever since.

“You’d best be worrying about whether we’ll even see our lord.”

Deputy Commander Guo gave a bitter smile.

“What do you mean?”

Wei Zhuo was confused.

“The journey from Kaiyuan Planet to our lord’s base on Wuwu Planet is long and winding. We’ll need to pass through several teleportation gates. Our lord set a rule: only when a unit has captured one hundred women with blood tear mole can they use the gates to return. Right now, we only have a few dozen. If we don’t figure something out, we’ll be stuck wandering.”

Deputy Commander Guo shook his head helplessly.

“Why do we need exactly a hundred blood tear moled women to use the teleportation gate?”

Wei Zhuo asked, puzzled.

Inside the spatial ring, Qi Huang paused her plans. She decided to first understand the situation fully before acting.

“It’s simple,” Guo explained. “Activating a teleportation gate consumes an enormous amount of gold-element True Qi. But among us ghosts, there are none who can use gold-element True Qi. So we have to buy Gathering Qi Talismans at a high cost. If anyone could use the gates freely, our lord would’ve gone bankrupt already.”

Qi Huang suddenly saw the logic. She had overlooked this issue, activating the gates truly was a problem for the evil faction. To save costs, it made sense to raise usage requirements and reduce frequency.

Now that she understood everything, Qi Huang decided not to act… at least for now. To confront that demon, she’d have to take the girls with her. Unless the demon was defeated, Kaiyuan Planet would never know peace.

“So what do we do now?” Wei Zhuo was getting anxious.

“We’ll see as we go. If we come across more beauty-marked women, we’ll grab them. If not, we’ll have to beg the ghost general guarding the teleportation gate to cut us some slack.”

Deputy Commander Guo thought for a moment, then spoke.

“Can’t you just contact our lord directly? If she knew the situation, she might let it slide.”

Wei Zhuo offered a suggestion.

“Heh… You think too highly of me. With my level of strength, how could I possibly have the right to contact our lord? And even if I did, with what would I contact her? A Thousand-Mile Communication Tube? That thing only works on the same planet. Anything beyond that, and it’s useless.”

Guo mocked himself.

“Uhh…”

Wei Zhuo had nothing to say after hearing that.

Clang, clang, clang…

Inside the spatial ring, Fairy Yuan continued slashing stubbornly, biting her lip. Her right palm had split open, blood staining the sword hilt.

The other girls began joining in with the weapons Fairy Yuan had given them. Even though they knew their strength was insufficient, their will to survive made them persist with the futile effort.

“Stop hacking at it. You won’t break this ring. You’re just wasting your energy.”

Qi Huang couldn’t bear to watch anymore and stepped forward to speak.

“We don’t need your pity. Even if I die from exhaustion, I’ll get you all out of here. If these evil beings leave Kaiyuan Planet, what’ll happen to everyone else?”

Fairy Yuan drew a deep breath and picked up her sword again, hacking away with great difficulty. But now her movements were so sluggish and weak that she could collapse at any moment.

“Even if you do break the ring, what’s the point? There are so many evil beings outside. Can we really escape?”

Qi Huang tried to reason with her.

“Then what do you suggest? If we don’t escape now, should we wait until we’re in their lair to try?”

Fairy Yuan shot back.

“Yeah! Aren’t you a cultivator? Instead of standing there making sarcastic remarks, why don’t you help us?”

“You must be some pampered young miss from a noble house, right? Hoping to sit back and enjoy the ride at a time like this?”

“I suggest you start helping. Otherwise, once we’re at their base, we’re all as good as dead.”

The girls all turned on Qi Huang.

“No, I…”

Qi Huang wanted to explain, but suddenly realized that continuing this would only earn their resentment. Better to just play along.

So, she summoned an ordinary sword and began mimicking the others, slashing at the inside wall of the ring. Of course, she put no real force into it, so the result was predictable.

Half an hour later, the ghost army arrived at the imperial capital. The journey had been smooth; no cultivators had shown up to stop them.

Qi Huang had expected as much. With Wei Zhuo, the former leader of the Immortal Alliance, accompanying the evil army, what cultivator would dare interfere?

The evil beings began entering the teleportation gate, their cheers shaking the heavens.

Inside the ring, the girls heard the commotion and collapsed to the ground in despair, weeping softly.

Qi Huang, however, kept hacking away robotically. Acting… This was the one thing she was truly good at.

“Stop already. The evil beings have left Kaiyuan Planet.”

Fairy Yuan couldn’t bear it any longer and tried to stop Qi Huang.

“No. As long as we haven’t reached their lair, I won’t give up.”

Qi Huang replied firmly, her hands still moving.

The girls looked at each other, their gazes toward Qi Huang softening.

Qi Huang was very satisfied. This was exactly the effect she was going for.

“Fine, keep hacking. But let me make it clear, I have no human food here. Let’s see how you plan to replenish your strength.”

The evil being controlling the ring couldn’t stand watching anymore and sneered.

“Mind your own business. Even if I die from exhaustion, I will get everyone out.”

Qi Huang’s response rang out with conviction.

The girls looked at her, now with admiration in their eyes.

Even Fairy Yuan began seeing Qi Huang in a new light. But something still felt off… After thinking it over, she suddenly realized; this woman had been parroting her exact lines from earlier!

Qi Huang continued slashing all the way. Even though her body had reached Divine Realm-level strength, sweat began to form on her forehead. She started grumbling internally: ‘Why hasn’t anyone stopped me yet?’

“Stop it!”

Fairy Yuan couldn’t take it anymore. She walked over and snatched the sword from Qi Huang’s hands.

Qi Huang let out a long breath, gladly playing along.

Fairy Yuan frowned slightly, then pulled out a fragrant handkerchief and wiped the sweat from Qi Huang’s forehead.

Qi Huang was stunned by the gesture, but also secretly pleased. All that effort acting… finally paid off.

Half an hour passed. The evil army had finally exited the teleportation gate.

“Deputy Commander Guo, quickly take down the gate. If Zhong Zhen comes chasing after us, we’ll be in deep trouble.”

Wei Zhuo reminded him urgently.

“I know.”

Guo replied casually, then put the gate away.

“Zeng Xiao, release the women. They’re our tickets for passing through the next teleportation gate into Guhan Planet.”

Guo then called out to the ghost operating the ring.

“Yes, General!”

The ghost named Zeng Xiao answered respectfully, then used Divine Sense to wrap around Qi Huang and the dozens of other girls, pulling them out from the ring.
