Volume 13, Chapter 835 – Drain Them All into Mummified Corpses

“You must be joking, big brother. How could I possibly get something like this wrong? If you don’t believe me, ask Huang Jing.”

Huang Tian said helplessly, half-laughing, half-crying.

“Big Sister, Second Brother Huang Tian really didn’t get it wrong.”

A woman’s voice, gentle and clear, followed immediately—it was Huang Jing, the other half of the Character-Shifting Art.

“Alright then. Both of you, stop using the Character-Shifting Art.”

Qi Huang said with a trace of frustration. Though unwilling to give up, she dared not risk her life. If the exchange wasn’t completed at the appointed time, her three ethereal souls and seven corporeal souls would completely disintegrate.

Huang Tian and Huang Jing obeyed and simultaneously ceased the Character-Shifting Art. The characters on their brows flew back to each other’s foreheads.

Outside, Qi Huang’s gaze instantly regained clarity. Her body’s tense muscles and nerves began to relax, and even her hands softened. It was as if she’d transformed from a wild beast into a gentle little lamb in the blink of an eye.

“What’s wrong with you?”

Yuan Xin sensed the change in Qi Huang’s body and asked in confusion.

“N-nothing…”

Qi Huang’s cheeks flushed as she quickly withdrew her jade-like hand, shifting the topic awkwardly, “I was just wondering if Sister Yuan… has any good ideas.”

“Sister?”

Yuan Xin’s expression grew more puzzled but didn’t press further. Instead, she sighed helplessly. “I came to you because I couldn’t think of anything myself.”

“Don’t worry, Sister Yuan. I promise nothing will happen to any of us.”

Qi Huang looked at her boldly and made a firm promise.

“Promise? Heh…”

Yuan Xin let out a half-smile, clearly not taking Qi Huang’s words seriously and assuming she was merely trying to be optimistic.

At that moment, the malicious ghost Zeng Xiao entered the spatial ring, startling the girls who instinctively backed away.

“This is for you. Deputy General Guo says to cover up the mole on your face.”

Zeng Xiao handed a small box of rouge to Qi Huang.

Qi Huang took it without a word. She knew well she had to disguise herself. Any misstep could invite disaster.

“Let me help you.”

Yuan Xin offered enthusiastically.

“After covering it, don’t forget to fake a mole somewhere else. If you can’t pass the inspection in the next phase, don’t blame me if you lose your life.”

Zeng Xiao warned coldly.

“Can’t you speak like a human being? Why don’t you show us how to disguise it then?”

Yuan Xin shouted angrily, unable to stand his vile attitude.

“That’s her problem. What does it have to do with me?”

Zeng Xiao sneered at Qi Huang and vanished back into the spatial ring.

“No wonder he turned into a ghost. Clearly deserved it.”

Yuan Xin muttered indignantly.

“Don’t worry, Sister. We’re the ones that demon wants. They won’t hurt me.”

Qi Huang quickly tried to soothe her.

With Yuan Xin’s help, Qi Huang covered the tear-shaped mole on her right cheek and dotted a small red spot on her left to fake it.

“Will this work? Even a fool could tell it’s fake.”

Yuan Xin examined the result and spoke with concern.

“It’ll be fine, Sister. Whether it passes or not is their problem, not ours.”

Qi Huang took Yuan Xin’s hand, gently reassuring her. Her gesture was natural and respectful, with no hint of inappropriate intent.

“You’re right. Even if we overlook you, there are just over fifty of us. There’s no way we’d all pass inspection so easily.”

Yuan Xin thought it over and relaxed a little.

“Sister, may I ask? Are you trying to escape or actually planning to go to the lair of the fiends? If we fail to pass, that’s actually good news for everyone. Why are you so worried?”

Qi Huang asked, somewhat puzzled.

“At first, I really was only thinking about escaping.”

Yuan Xin’s expression turned conflicted, and after a moment of hesitation, she said, “But you’ve heard, haven’t you? Those fiends are planning to return to their lair to report us. If they come back to Kaiyuan Planet again, our families and people will suffer.”

“So?”

Qi Huang pressed on.

“In that case, I’d rather go with them to their lair. If there’s even a chance to destroy that demon, then we could eliminate the threat once and for all for everyone on Kaiyuan Planet.”

Yuan Xin revealed her plan. One that surprisingly aligned with Qi Huang’s own.

“I really admire your courage, Sister. But with your cultivation only at the Incarnation Realm, how could you possibly defeat a Zombie at the Demon Master level?”

Qi Huang asked earnestly.

“Where there’s a will, there’s a way.”

Yuan Xin replied, clenching her dainty fists.

Qi Huang was momentarily stunned. She couldn’t tell if the girl in front of her was too naive or simply brave beyond reason. But in her heart, she believed that anyone with a dream deserved respect.

“Deputy General Guo, since we can’t use that girl to lead the way, what’s your plan for passing the next teleportation checkpoint?”

Outside the spatial ring, in the teleportation tunnel, Wei Zhuo finally voiced the question.

“Sigh. That’s exactly what’s troubling me.”

Deputy General Guo exhaled heavily before continuing, “The guard at the next teleportation point has no ties with General Sha. There’s no way he’ll let us through.”

“Then what do we do? You know we left in a rush and didn’t bring any ‘provisions’. Everyone’s starving. The strong among us can hold out for a while, but our men still need food three times a day.”

Wei Zhuo frowned as he spoke.

“Do you think I need you to remind me?”

Deputy General Guo barked irritably. Then he added, “Right now, we can only take it one step at a time. Let’s get there first.”

“Deputy General Guo, what level is the guard at the next teleportation point?”

Wei Zhuo paused to think, then asked.

“What are you getting at?”

Suspicion clouded Deputy General Guo’s expression.

“No need to play dumb. If we absolutely can’t pass, then force might be our only option.”

Wei Zhuo’s gaze turned cold.

“Forget that unrealistic idea. The next checkpoint’s guard is a late-stage Flying Bone skeleton. Stronger than you. We couldn’t possibly eliminate him quietly. If my Lord finds out, the consequences will be disastrous.”

Deputy General Guo warned harshly.

“Late-stage Flying Bone?”

Hearing this, Wei Zhuo shook his head helplessly. A late-stage Flying Bone equated to the late stage of the Heavenly Tribulation Realm, roughly equivalent to a late-stage Flying Corpse. At that level, even one minor difference in strength could mean an unbridgeable gap.

This teleportation journey was especially long. Only after five grueling days did the exhausted army of fiends finally see the exit of the teleportation gate.

Upon reaching the second teleportation base, Qi Huang and the fifty-some mole-marked girls were released. She extended her divine sense and scanned the surroundings, noting that the environment of this star was much better than that of the Bone-Chill Planet. The Yin energy here wasn’t nearly as thick, and there were even some hardy plants growing in the wild, like “ghost tomatoes”. Still, there wasn’t a single living creature in sight.

Knowing he couldn’t afford to delay, Deputy General Guo immediately went to negotiate with the local garrison.

Qi Huang observed and confirmed that the stationed general was indeed a late-stage Flying Bone skeleton. Towering in size, its body was clad in imposing armor. It moved on all fours, shaking the earth with each step like a walking fortress. It must have been a mighty bear-like beast in life.

Wei Zhuo’s face paled the moment he saw the skeleton and gave up any thoughts of using brute force.

“General Xiong” merely glanced at the fifty-some mole-marked girls. He didn’t even bother inspecting them before shaking his head and refusing passage—the reason: not enough in number.

Despite Deputy General Guo’s persistent efforts, General Xiong wouldn’t budge. Left with no other option, Guo had the group set up camp nearby.

The mole-marked girls were brought to a shabby courtyard to rest. As always, Yuan Xin distributed food and patiently tended to the sick. She was practically playing the role of both mother and father.

Qi Huang deeply admired her. A proud daughter of a major sect, raised with all the privileges of a cultivator’s life, yet possessing such patience. That was truly one in a million.

Meanwhile, the fiendish guards outside grew restless upon hearing the sounds of the girls eating.

“Damn it. Who’s the real prisoner here? They’re inside eating well while we starve out here.”

“Exactly! I’m just a Bronze Corpse. Does Deputy General Guo expect me to survive on Yin energy? If he doesn’t give me blood soon, I’ll go in there and drain those little sluts dry!”

“I said this before—we left in such a rush, we didn’t bring any blood slaves. How could Deputy General Guo have blood to hand out? If he did, would we still be waiting?”

“Then what do we do? We can’t move forward, can’t go back. Are we supposed to starve to death out here?”

“Screw this. Let’s go in and suck those bitches dry. Better die full than starve to death.”

Dozens of fiendish guards, driven mad by hunger and never known for their intelligence, kicked down the courtyard doors and charged in.
