Volume 13, Chapter 839 – Who Are You, Sir?

“Big Sister, is all this really necessary? With your strength, you could easily wipe them all out.”

Huang Jing asked in confusion.

“I’m still busy collecting Ghost Tomatoes. I don’t have time to waste on a bunch of shrimp soldiers and crab generals.”

Qi Huang brushed it off casually. Since she had barely agreed to execute a flawless escape, naturally, she intended to collect every single ghost tomato on Heisi Planet, leaving not a single seed behind.

Huang Jing had no choice but to follow Qi Huang’s instructions and remain still.

The army of foreign fiendish specters poured out of the teleportation gate, flooding toward the local fiendish specters stationed on Heisi Planet. The two sides clashed quickly.

The old ghost crone had over eight thousand under her command, stationed to defend Heisi Planet. That wasn’t a small number, so at first they managed to hold the line. But as wave after wave of enemy specters emerged, they were crushed under sheer numbers. Worse still, their elite combatants were outclassed.

In both quality and quantity, they were completely overmatched, and so their defenses soon collapsed like a crumbling mountain.

Deputy General Guo’s forces were camped not far away, but because he didn’t know the enemy’s strength, he dared not move.

“Deputy General Guo, what are you waiting for?! You’re just standing there while our comrades are dying! If our Master finds out, she’ll take your life!”

General Xie, the ghost crone, realized the situation was dire and immediately called on Deputy General Guo for help.

Deputy General Guo hesitated fiercely. Though not a native commander, he and General Xie were under the same faction. If he stood by and did nothing, and the Demon Lord found out, death was certain.

“Attack!”

Deputy General Guo gritted his teeth and ordered the more than fifty thousand fiendish specters under his command to enter the battle.

As for Wei Zhuo, he was a free agent. Without knowing the enemy’s background, he wasn’t foolish enough to join the fray. He had already hidden far away.

BOOM BOOM BOOM…

As war drums thundered and shook the ground, over fifty thousand specters surged in with rolling sand and wind, attacking from the flank. The two forces clashed again in brutal combat, though it was only a temporary reprieve.

The army of foreign fiendish specters kept flooding out of the teleportation gate, seemingly endless in number. On top of that, their individual combat power surpassed the locals. Victory was only a matter of time.

But the highest-ranking commander among them, the human-demon level zombie General Lu, lacked the patience to wait.

“Courting death!”

General Lu roared. His towering body, cloaked in overwhelming Yin energy, charged into battle. His target: the top commander of the local garrison, General Xie, the ghost crone at the peak of the Demon Realm. Clearly, he aimed to “capture the king to defeat the army.”

General Lu was at early Human-stage Demon realm, equivalent to early Immortal level among cultivators, while the ghost crone was at the peak of the Demon Realm, roughly on par with peak Heavenly Tribulation Realm. Though seemingly only one minor stage apart, that tiny gap marked the line between mortal and immortal.

With shocking speed, General Lu pounced like a hawk, his massive fist swinging with no unnecessary flourish.

The ghost crone lacked the strength to evade.

BANG!

General Lu’s fist struck like a meteor, carrying terrifying force and raging Yin energy swirling like a tornado. It instantly shattered the ghost crone’s soul body into dust.

With a single punch, General Lu took out the local army’s top commander. He then turned toward Deputy General Guo.

Qi Huang still didn’t intervene—one dead Deputy General Guo wouldn’t affect the outcome.

Deputy General Guo was weak and completely unaware of the danger closing in. He was still barking orders to his troops when General Lu suddenly appeared at his side.

A thick, calloused hand seized his skull and twisted savagely.

CRACK!

A sickening snap sounded. Deputy General Guo’s stunned expression froze on his face.

General Lu didn’t stop there. His right hand yanked upward violently— SPLURT! —and Guo’s head tore free from his body. Jet-black blood sprayed like a fountain.

Holding Guo’s severed head in one hand, General Lu swept his gaze across the battlefield. “Your commander is dead. Still want to resist?”

The local fiendish specters were thrown into chaos. Some surrendered, others were slaughtered. In no time, their army fell into utter disarray.

Wei Zhuo remained hidden in the shadows. Though he had mid-level Flying Corpse strength, he knew better than to show his face now. He could only bide his time.

Meanwhile, Qi Huang had already begun her disguise; changing clothes and swallowing a Voice-Altering Pill, ready to step in and take what she needed.

General Lu quickly seized control of the battlefield. He ordered his men to locate the activation crossbows for all the teleportation gates and turned his attention to the mole-marked girls.

With his elite commanders in tow, General Lu marched to the courtyard where the mole-marked girls were held.

One arrogant deputy sneered, “Listen up. From now on, you all belong to General Lu.”

General Lu shot a sidelong glance at the frightened group and barked a warning. “Obey, and you might live a few more days. Disobey, and I’ll kill you the moment I feel like it!”

The mole-marked girls didn’t dare make a sound, trembling as they clustered behind Yuan Xin.

Though Yuan Xin’s delicate frame visibly shook, she didn’t retreat a single step.

“Heh, talking big, aren’t you? Looks like it’s monkey king time since there are no tigers in this mountain.”

Just then, a raspy voice rang out overhead.

Everyone looked up in shock. A black-clad figure hovered in the sky, shrouded entirely in a loose robe… impossible to tell gender or age.

Of course, it was Qi Huang.

The dense crowd of fiendish specters instantly went on alert, drawing bows and readying arrows.

“How dare you speak down to General Lu from above?! Tired of living?!”

One Flying Corpse–level deputy barked out.

“My courage may be big, but yours is clearly bigger, shouting at someone whose background you don’t even know.”

Qi Huang replied with mockery, and her powerful divine sense slammed downward like a falling sky, instantly flattening the deputy into a mangled meat pancake.

“Aaahh!”

The surrounding fiendish specters recoiled in horror. That was a Flying Corpse… killed without even giving the opponent a chance to raise a hand.

The women’s eyes lit with a sliver of hope. Having just escaped one predator to land in another’s clutches, this mysterious newcomer might be their only chance.

“Who are you?”

General Lu’s expression turned cautious. For someone to approach undetected, even doused in Heaven-Deceiving Water, they were no ordinary foe.

“Weren’t you full of swagger just now? And now you’re asking who I am instead of attacking? Looks like you’re scared.”

Qi Huang taunted.

“If you insist on seeking death, then this general—”

General Lu, goaded, began issuing threats. But his words suddenly cut off.

“This general what?”

Qi Huang asked, half-smiling, as a razor-sharp strand of hair silently retracted.

All eyes turned to General Lu. He stood frozen, face blank and unresponsive.

“General? General?”

A lower-ranking officer called out in confusion, but got no answer.

Then, a thin red line appeared across General Lu’s neck. It spread rapidly, black blood spraying out. As the line met end to end, his enormous head toppled clean off his shoulders.

“Aaahh!”

The foreign fiendish specters shrieked in terror and scattered like frightened beasts.

But Qi Huang wasn’t about to let the enemy escape. Her divine sense erupted outward, collapsing like a falling sky and crushing the invaders without mercy. In under half an hour, ninety-nine percent were annihilated.

Qi Huang vanished without a word, leaving behind a battlefield in ruins. She knew someone else would clean up the mess.

Thousands of local fiendish specters, spared from death, looked around at one another. With both commanding officers dead, they were leaderless and aimless.

That was when Wei Zhuo stepped forward. Seizing the moment, he declared, “Though Deputy General Guo is dead, we still need to survive. This wasteland offers nothing. Only if we return to Wuwu Planet will we have any hope. We must keep moving.”

The fiendish specters slowly shook off their daze and nodded in agreement.

“Who among you holds the highest rank now?” Wei Zhuo asked.

“I do! I was Deputy General Guo’s assistant, and the army’s Staff Officer.”

The ghost Zeng Xiao, who had escorted the mole-marked girls earlier, stepped forward.

“Excellent. Staff Officer Zeng, from now on this army is yours to lead. Whether we reach Wuwu Planet safely depends on you.”

Wei Zhuo entrusted him with the command—backed by strength alone.

“I won’t let everyone down!”

Zeng Xiao vowed.

He quickly regrouped the army and took in the mole-marked girls brought by the foreign specters. With them, they could pass through the next checkpoint openly… a small mercy amid great misfortune.

Qi Huang quietly rejoined the group of mole-marked girls during this time, returning to her sheepish disguise.

By nightfall, the remaining few thousand fiendish specters and the women resumed their journey, heading for the final teleportation point on their road home.
