Volume 13, Chapter 849 – She Is My Heavenly Soul
“You make a good point, but why are you helping me so much?”
Ye Xiuyun still didn’t lower her guard. After all, everything about Qi Huang’s behavior screamed ulterior motives.
“Emotionally speaking, I came to you first… that means there’s a thread of fate between us.”
Qi Huang said nonsense with a straight face.
“Are you… flirting with me? Doesn’t it feel strange to say such things when you’re a woman talking to me?”
Ye Xiuyun replied noncommittally.
‘If you were a handsome guy, I wouldn’t even dare talk to you like this.’
Qi Huang complained inwardly, but then put on a serious expression. “Believe it or not, logically speaking, while I’m not one of the Evil Spirits… or the source of the Evil Spirits, I do know a few of the unspoken rules inside the ghost race. If a haunted region is invaded, how many survivors do you think would be left?”
“Yes, within a haunted region, most of the ghost race are direct descendants of the source of Yin energy. Their loyalty to the source is absolute. These types of Evil Spirits can’t be subjugated. Naturally, they can only be devoured or killed.”
Ye Xiuyun confirmed Qi Huang’s theory.
“Exactly. I’m farming, so what I need is manpower, not experts. This haunted region of yours has, at the very least, hundreds of thousands of ghosts. There’s no way I’m going to just let them be devoured by another haunted region.”
Qi Huang laid out her reasoning.
“That… actually makes sense.”
Ye Xiuyun was convinced.
“So, how about now? Can I go in your place to represent Princess Tomb?”
Qi Huang asked, then added, “Of course, if you don’t trust me, you can come along too. Just hide in the storage ring. They won’t sense your presence.”
Ye Xiuyun fell into deep thought. While the idea seemed feasible, what if this woman turned against her? She knew her current condition. One wrong move and it would be eternal damnation.
‘But if I don’t go and leave such an important matter to her alone… I really can’t feel at ease.’
Ye Xiuyun struggled fiercely within.
‘Forget it. For now, I can only pin my hopes on her.’
Eventually, Ye Xiuyun gave in and said, “Alright. Put me into your storage ring. We’ll go together.”
“Great. So, when is the meeting scheduled by the master of the Skeleton Sea?”
Qi Huang followed up.
“Three days from now.”
Ye Xiuyun answered.
“Three days? That’s too early. I don’t like waiting around like an idiot.”

Qi Huang shook her head, then said, “Tell you what. I’ll go take care of a few things first and be back soon.”
“Then go and return quickly!”
Ye Xiuyun warned her with concern.
“Don’t worry. The entire Kaiyuan Planet is within my surveillance range. You can stop releasing Yin energy now. If anyone dares to cause trouble, I’ll handle it.”
Qi Huang gave her some reassurance, then vanished without a trace.
“I really am a fool, putting my hopes in someone I just met. Is this what they mean by ‘a drowning person clutching at straws’?”
Ye Xiuyun stood dazed for a long time, then let out a self-deprecating laugh. Right after, she returned to the tomb to resume releasing Yin energy, burning herself.
Qi Huang had seen everything. But she didn’t push further. Trust wasn’t something that could be earned with just words. Fortunately, this ghost princess could still hold on for a while. She wouldn’t be gone in a flash.
Qi Huang arrived near a town, then released all the mole-marked girls from the storage ring.
“Where are we?”
The girls looked around in confusion.
“Immortal, are you alright?”
Only Yuan Xin was the first to ask after Qi Huang’s well-being.
Qi Huang smiled in satisfaction, then said, “I’ve eliminated that demon and brought you all back to Kaiyuan Planet. You can now reunite with your families.”
“Really? This is Kaiyuan Planet?”
“This is Kaiyuan Planet. I’ve been to that city before.”
“Wuwuwu, I never thought I’d actually make it back alive.”
The mole-marked girls broke into tears of joy.
“Alright, alright, don’t get too excited just yet. The Immortal saved all of you, shouldn’t you at least thank her?”
Yuan Xin frowned slightly, then cautiously asked Qi Huang, “Immortal, may I tell them your identity now?”
“Do as you like.”
Qi Huang replied casually, though deep down she was eager for her to do so. After all, everyone had a little vanity.
“Listen up, all of you. This is Immortal Zhong Zhen of the Lingxi Sect. Why haven’t you thanked her properly?”
Yuan Xin snapped.
“She’s an Immortal from the Lingxi Sect? No wonder she’s so powerful.”
“If I had known there was an Immortal by our side, what would I have to be afraid of? That was all just a false alarm.”

“Thank you, Immortal… thank you… Your immense grace… this humble girl will never forget it.”
The mole-marked girls all knelt to offer their thanks.
“Alright, alright, get up. I’m not someone who does good deeds just to be repaid.”
Qi Huang waved her hand magnanimously, then turned to Yuan Xin. “Yuan Xin, I have a task for you: escort them all safely back home. Can you do that?”
“I’ll get it done, guaranteed!”
Yuan Xin patted her chest firmly.
Only then did Qi Huang feel at ease, and she headed straight for the Lingxi Sect.
Before long, Qi Huang met her dear wife… and without a word, she rushed in for a big, passionate kiss.
Cheng Hongling responded just as eagerly. After all, they’d been together for years. There was no need to act shy.
“My dear wife, there’s something I’ve been puzzled about. Why haven’t you asked me whether that demon was actually looking for me?”
Qi Huang asked curiously.
“Heh, after living with you for so long, don’t I know you by now? If that demon wasn’t looking for you, you would’ve excitedly told me already.”
Cheng Hongling replied with a helpless smile.
“Uh… Then, aren’t you afraid? Right now, who knows how many demons across the universe are searching for me.”
Qi Huang asked cautiously.
“We’ve been together for about ten years. Have you ever seen me afraid?”
Cheng Hongling shot back.
“Hehe…”
Qi Huang chuckled foolishly.
“I don’t care how many demons are after you. If they want to take you away from me, they’ll have to walk over my dead body first.”
Cheng Hongling’s eyes were filled with unwavering resolve.
“Don’t talk about dead bodies and such. Don’t say unlucky things like that.”
Qi Huang quickly cut her off, then took out the heart fragment from her storage ring. “This is a piece of that demon’s heart, one of the fragments from Lu Yao’s heart.”
“This looks just like the two pieces you gave me earlier. So it really was all from Lu Yao.”
Cheng Hongling clearly had expected as much.
“According to that demon, if all of Lu Yao’s heart fragments are gathered and activated using the blood tears from my face, one can become a second Lu Yao. That’s why so many demons are after me.”

Qi Huang explained further.
“Let me keep it. I already have two pieces anyway.”
Cheng Hongling took the fragment without waiting for permission.
Qi Huang hesitated, then wisely chose to stay silent.
“These heart fragments are all different sizes. Who knows how many pieces Lu Yao’s heart was originally split into?”
Cheng Hongling observed the fragment for a moment and remarked.
“Right. If they were all the same size, we could estimate the maximum number of demons seeking the blood tears.”
Qi Huang said regretfully.
“Didn’t you see Lu Yao’s final moment? Try to recall it carefully. How many pieces was her heart shattered into by that Celestial?”
Cheng Hongling asked, hopeful.
“I’ll give it a try. Her body was heavily wounded, and her vision was fading. The images I saw weren’t very clear.”
Qi Huang acknowledged, then closed her eyes to recall. A moment later, her eyes lit up. “I remember now! Her heart was shattered into thirty-two pieces, scattered across countless worlds.”
“Thirty-two pieces? We currently have three. That means up to twenty-nine demons might still be looking for you.”
Cheng Hongling deduced.
“It shouldn’t be that many. They’re fighting each other too. Many of the stronger demons probably have multiple pieces already, just like us.”
Qi Huang voiced her doubts.
“That’s just a conservative estimate. After all, there’s no rule that says only those who inherit one fragment can obtain more. To become the second Lu Yao, it should be enough to be her descendant.”
Cheng Hongling warned sternly.
Qi Huang was startled by this. ‘Why is my thinking so rigid?’ she thought. If that was true, then the number of demons after her was probably much higher than she’d imagined.
A renewed sense of danger surged within Qi Huang, so she told Cheng Hongling about the situation with Princess Tomb.
“Princess Tomb is ranked fifth among Kaiyuan Planet’s perilous zones. Who would’ve thought it’s all bark and no bite now.”
Cheng Hongling sighed, then added, “But like you said, we only need manpower to grow ghost tomatoes, not combat strength. So now and in the future, we must avoid letting them get swallowed up.”
“Exactly. So to protect them, I have to represent Princess Tomb and negotiate with those Evil Spirits about how to deal with you. Isn’t that absurd?”
Qi Huang chuckled.
“Get used to it. Someone even impersonated me once to steal from the Honghua Sect. Isn’t that even more ridiculous?”
Cheng Hongling teased.

“Uhh…”
Qi Huang’s face turned red in embarrassment.
“Alright, no more jokes. Go and handle your business. If they act out of line, I’ll pressure them myself.”
Cheng Hongling said seriously.
“Alright. With husband and wife working together, they won’t dare defy us.”
Qi Huang’s confidence surged.
Next, Qi Huang rushed back to Princess Tomb.
“If you’re going to represent me at that meeting, we’ll need to give you a proper identity.”
Princess Qin Xin suggested.
“Not just that. It has to be an intimate one. That way, they won’t dare to make a move on Princess Tomb. Actually, the best way would be to let me impersonate your Heavenly Soul.”
Qi Huang proposed. She knew that evil spirits were essentially made up of their Life Soul and the three ethereal souls: Heavenly, Earthly, and Humanly.
“That’s a brilliant idea! For us evil spirits, the Heavenly Soul is like a doppelgänger, summonable at any time. Even if you’re not by my side, they won’t dare act recklessly. Plus, you’ve got the doppelgänger mark on your brow. You’re perfect for the role.”
Ye Xiuyun immediately agreed, excited.
“It’s just… our voices and body types don’t match…”
Qi Huang expressed her concern.
“It doesn’t matter. I’ve only awakened for less than ten years. I’ve never even met those sources of Yin energy. If that Immortal Zhong Zhen hadn’t shown up, who knows how long it would’ve been before any contact.”
Ye Xiuyun said thoughtfully.
“Even better. But you must make sure your handmaidens keep their mouths shut.”
Qi Huang emphasized, not wanting the plan to be ruined.
“Don’t worry. I’m only taking the few I trust most.”
Ye Xiuyun promised.
After finalizing the plan, Ye Xiuyun gathered her most trusted maids into a side hall. Among them was Jian Yiren.
The evil spirit maids stared at Qi Huang with blood-red eyes, curious where this person had suddenly popped out from.
“Let me introduce her. She’s my Heavenly Soul.”
Ye Xiuyun declared shamelessly, lying without blinking an eye.
