Volume 13, Chapter 860 – She Hasn’t Turned into a Vegetable, Has She?
Qi Huang lay face-down on the ground, motionless and indecent, as if she were dead.
Inside the storage ring, Cheng Hongling was wrapped layer upon layer and had no idea what was happening outside.
“What are you skulking around with a veil for?”
The cat-eared loli ordered several zombie maids to lift Qi Huang, then muttered as she stepped forward and flipped up the other’s veil. Her small body shivered at once because she saw the red tear mole.
The cat-eared loli’s blood-red eyes rolled a few times, then she composed herself and lowered the veil as if nothing had happened.
“Princess, what is that on her face…?”
The female ghoul asked, unsettled.
“Nothing, she tripped and cut herself a moment ago.”
The cat-eared loli brushed it off casually.
“Really?”
The female ghoul scratched her head, half convinced.
The loli flicked her small hand. “Aunt Hong, put her into the storage ring. Let’s go back to the Queen of the Underworld!”
“Yes! Princess!”
The female ghost called Aunt Hong accepted the order respectfully and put Qi Huang into a storage ring.
Then the cat-eared loli led the horde of evil spirits through the portal and teleported back to the Queen of the Underworld.
A day later, the evil spirits returned to the Queen of the Underworld. The cat-eared loli, with Aunt Hong, went to see the cat-demon sovereign.
“Mother, your daughter has returned to report.”
The cat-eared loli announced from outside the bedchamber.
“Qianqian is back? Have you found the killer?”
The cat-demon sovereign inside the chamber asked lazily.
“Mother, I did not disappoint you. I found the killer and brought her back.”
The cat-eared loli named Qianqian showed a trace of pride.
“Brought her back? Kill her, why bring her back?”
The sovereign asked in puzzlement.
“Uh… may I come in and speak with you alone for a moment?”
Qianqian hesitated.
“Of course. Didn’t I say you may come and go as you please?”
The cat-demon sovereign seemed very indulgent.
“Aunt Hong, release her. I’ll go in by myself.”

Qianqian ordered the female ghost Aunt Hong.
“At once!”
Aunt Hong nimbly released Qi Huang and then stepped back.
Qianqian carried Qi Huang by one hand into the bedchamber and closed the door behind her.
The cat-demon sovereign sat up on the big bed; the thin quilt slid off, revealing a body scantily covered. The exaggerated curves of her chest strained the thin, translucent nightgown, making pale skin faintly visible. With a pair of sleepy, seductive phoenix-eyes and furry cat ears and tail, she exuded fatal temptation.
“Mother, forgive me for disturbing your rest.”
Qianqian bowed and apologized after placing Qi Huang on the floor.
“It’s nothing; you are my daughter.”
The cat-demon sovereign was unusually indulgent, a complete contrast to her earlier treatment of subordinates.
“Thank you, Mother!”
Qianqian said, moved.
“So this is the killer?”
The sovereign padded over with graceful cat-like steps.
“Yes, Mother, look!”
Qianqian crouched and reached out to lift the veil from Qi Huang’s face, revealing the conspicuous dark-red tear mole.
The sovereign’s slit pupils dilated; sleep left her face. She crouched to examine it closely, then suddenly rose and laughed. “Heh heh… I searched high and low and found it without effort!”
“Yes, I thought it was only a small shrimp, but I caught a big fish.”
Qianqian smiled brightly.
“Heh heh, Qianqian, you have greatly helped your mother this time.”
The sovereign hugged Qianqian fervently and kissed her fiercely.
Qianqian struggled, baby fat showing on her small face as an embarrassed smile formed.
“By the way, does anyone else know of this?”
The sovereign asked anxiously.
“No, she kept the veil on. Only I have seen the blood tear.”
Qianqian thought briefly and replied, not telling the whole truth because she knew Aunt Hong would die for sure if she revealed it to the sovereign.
“Good! Very good! You have done a heavenly deed. Ask for anything you want.”
The sovereign was delighted and magnanimous.
“Daughter wants nothing, only that Mother remain safe and not be persecuted by those immortals.”
Qianqian said sincerely.

“My good daughter.”
The sovereign kissed Qianqian again, then looked down at Qi Huang with confidence. “Don’t worry. You have found the most important thing for your mother. Once I gather the remaining heart fragments, I will become the second Demon Ancestor Lu Yao. Then I will turn this immortal realm into hell.”
“Mmhm…”
Qianqian nodded vigorously.
“Alright, go on downstairs. This matter must not be revealed to anyone.”
The sovereign instructed.
“How will you deal with her?”
Qianqian pressed, uneasy.
“Of course I’ll drain her blood. Once the blood-tear returns to my face, no one can snatch it away.”
The sovereign answered.
“Could you not kill her?”
Unexpectedly, Qianqian pled.
“Why?”
The sovereign looked at her daughter in puzzlement.
“Mother, you don’t know. When she fought me, I noticed her divine sense fluctuated strangely.”
Qianqian gathered her words to explain.
“Strangely? How strange?”
The sovereign asked.
“I found her divine sense fluctuations were very similar to our Nine Nether Demon Cat clan’s, yet she is clearly human.”
Qianqian frowned.
“What? There’s such a thing?”
The sovereign showed astonishment. She crouched to examine for a long time and murmured to herself, “She is indeed human, not a disguise.”
“I think we should be cautious, wait until she wakes and question her. What if we kill the wrong person?”
Qianqian suggested after some thought.
“Fine, then wait until she wakes.”
The sovereign pondered briefly.
“Is Mother’s word true?”
Qianqian asked anxiously.
“Would I lie to you? If you’re worried, you may stay to watch over her.”

The sovereign affectionately ruffled Qianqian’s small nose.
“Thank you, Mother.”
Qianqian smiled happily.
“Sigh… you’re so kind… I’m afraid you’ll be taken advantage of later.”
The sovereign shook her head helplessly.
“With Mother protecting me, I won’t lose out.”
Qianqian cooed.
They had the maids place another bed in the bedchamber, and Qi Huang was carried onto it.
After some unknown length of time, Qi Huang groggily regained consciousness. The first thing she felt was a terrible headache that made thinking impossible; she groaned.
“You’re awake!”
A concerned little girl’s voice sounded.
Qi Huang recognized the cat-eared loli’s voice, but she couldn’t speak. She could only clutch her head and moan; sweat quickly soaked her clothes.
“What’s wrong with her?”
A mature female voice asked nearby.
“Reporting to Mother, this is what happened…”
Qianqian then recounted the process of capturing Qi Huang.
“It seems to be aftereffects of an injury to her divine sense.”
The sovereign immediately diagnosed.
“What should be done?”
Qianqian asked anxiously.
“There’s no good cure. She can only recover slowly.”
The sovereign replied.
“But she looks like she’s in a lot of pain!”
Qianqian couldn’t help but feel pity.
Qi Huang’s heart leapt with a sliver of hope on hearing that; perhaps they had a way to save her. But at that moment she suddenly felt a chop at her throat, her vision went black, and she fainted again.
“Mother, what are you doing?”
Qianqian exclaimed in anxiety.
“Mother is saving her. If we don’t knock her out, she’ll suffer to death.”
The sovereign explained.

“I see… I wronged you, Mother.”
Qianqian realized and hurriedly took a handkerchief to wipe the sweat from Qi Huang’s cheek.
Qi Huang didn’t know how long she was out. When she regained consciousness again, the pain in her head had lessened enough for her to think, and she opened her eyes drowsily.
“You’re awake again!”
Qianqian leaned over the bed edge to ask.
“……”
Qi Huang did not answer; even the slightest movement brought stabbing pain.
“Still too painful? Want me to knock you out again?”
Qianqian raised a small fist, eager to try.
“No…”
Startled, Qi Huang forced herself to refuse through the pain. The little thing was reckless; if she struck, it was unclear whether Qi Huang would be merely knocked out or killed.
“Good, rest easy. Call out if you need anything. Once you recover, we’ll have questions for you.”
The cat-eared loli admonished like a small adult.
“Questions for me? About what? By the way, why didn’t they kill me?”
Qi Huang wondered, then drifted into sleep again.
When Qi Huang woke for the third time, the headache had mostly faded and her thinking returned.
Qi Huang knew she was trapped and could not flee rashly or confront the enemy directly, so she planned to play dead and gather information first.
She strained to listen. Soon two female voices sounded in the hall, one small and obviously the cat-eared loli, the other addressed as Mother.
‘Mother? Damn. Have I been kidnapped and brought to the lair?’
Qi Huang groaned miserably. She could not handle just the smaller one; how strong might the larger be?
Fearing danger, she did not dare release divine sense to probe and could only gather intelligence through her ears.
A day passed, and Qi Huang had a general understanding of the place. She was in the Immortal Realm’s “Minghou Star”, and the cat-eared loli’s mother was the ruler there, the Queen of the Underworld. Worse, this Queen was a descendant of Lu Yao and was also searching for the blood-tear.
“It’s been so long; the blood-tear on my face must have been discovered by the Queen. But why hasn’t she drained my blood yet?”
Qi Huang grew more puzzled and fearful, then secretly released her divine sense to observe the surroundings.
“Mother, why hasn’t she woken yet? Could she become a vegetable?”
At that moment, the cat-eared loli’s worried voice sounded.
“Since she’s a wreck, Mother can’t be bothered to waste time. We’ll drain her blood right away.”
The Queen of the Underworld rose, scented breeze accompanying her as she walked forward.
