Volume 2, Chapter 93 – Today, I’m Going on a Killing Spree (Part 2)
“Fairy, please! If there’s any way to save my father and the villagers, I’ll do anything!”
Li Shi’s voice trembled with urgency.
Hearing her childhood friend address her as “Fairy” made Qi Huang’s skin crawl, but there was no time to dwell on it. She cut straight to the point:
“Take me to the gravesite where the zombie was burned.”
“Yes!”
Li Shi immediately led the way.
Qi Huang and her senior sisters followed closely, soon arriving at a small hollow near the village.
Qi Huang’s gaze swept over the field of gravestones—many of them freshly buried. She wasn’t surprised. Good feng shui spots were always in high demand, regardless of wealth or status.
The other fairies, noticing the sheer number of graves, drew their swords warily.
Qi Huang expanded her Divine Sense, probing for movement. Skeletons and zombies were obvious, but wandering spirits? Only she could detect those.
Just then, two shadowy figures lunged from the darkness—feet hovering above the ground, flickering like tattered flags in a storm. Wraiths.
‘As expected of an extreme Yin land—it’s even spawned vengeful spirits!’
In the past, Qi Huang would’ve been helpless. But now? She’d learned too much from her Main Body about wielding Divine Sense.
“Hmph.”
With a cold snort, she condensed her Divine Sense into two massive hands, seizing the wraiths mid-air—then crushed them.
“Aaaah—!”
Their shrieks faded into nothingness.
“What was that?”
Ruan Lingyu glanced around, puzzled.

“Nothing. Just took out some trash.”
Qi Huang shrugged, careful not to alarm the others.
“Stay sharp. There are unclean things here.”
Ruan Lingyu, however, wasn’t fooled. She signaled the others to ready their weapons.
“Unclean things? What kind?!”
Li Shi, a mere mortal, paled.
“Don’t worry. They’re gone now.”
Qi Huang reassured her.
Trembling but determined, Li Shi led them to a specific grave—the zombie’s original burial site.
Qi Huang scanned the area. Charred remnants of a pyre littered the ground, but she ignored them, focusing her Divine Sense elsewhere.
Minutes passed. No trace of anything purple.
“Find anything?”
Ruan Lingyu whispered.
‘Was I wrong?’
Qi Huang sidestepped slightly, avoiding her fragrant senior sister’s proximity.
Ruan Lingyu sighed, her expression tinged with disappointment.
‘Wait—’
Qi Huang tugged her hair, struck by sudden clarity.
‘Ghost Tomatoes resemble eggplants. Starving villagers wouldn’t just touch them—they’d eat them.’

If the fruit itself was gone, perhaps the vines remained.
Expanding her Divine Sense again, she struck gold—a Ghost Tomato vine, hidden in the undergrowth near the grave.
A severed stem clung to it.
‘70% certainty now.’
Without eyewitnesses, she had to stay cautious.
“This… isn’t this a Ghost Tomato vine?”
Yun Fei gasped, recognizing it from Qi Huang’s earlier harvest.
“Exactly. Ghost Tomatoes are lethally toxic to mortals. Skin contact causes severe inflammation—contagious, too. Ingesting it? Instant death. My guess? Someone touched or ate it during the zombie burning, dooming the whole village.”
Qi Huang laid out her theory.
“So that’s it!”
The group’s confusion lifted.
“My family’s practiced medicine for generations. I’ve heard of Ghost Tomatoes—but never seen one until now.”
Li Shi examined the vine curiously.
“You’ve never encountered it before?”
Qi Huang blinked.
“No. They’re incredibly rare—only grow in extreme Yin lands, as you cultivators call them. Estimates say there are fewer than 100 in the entire Western Radiance Dynasty.”
Qi Huang fell silent.
If the Compendium of Bizarre Flora and Fauna was just theory, practitioners like Li Shi wouldn’t be wrong. But if Ghost Tomatoes were so scarce—why had she found three already?

“Something bothering you?”
Yun Fei noticed her frown.
Hesitating, Qi Huang shared her thoughts—strictly about the plant, avoiding any personal secrets.
The senior sisters exchanged uneasy glances. None could explain the anomaly.
“Enough speculation. We need to focus on curing the villagers.”
Ruan Lingyu refocused the group, turning to Li Shi.
“As a physician, do you know any antidotes for Ghost Tomato toxin?”
“No. I’ve only heard of it in texts.”
Li Shi shook her head helplessly.
“Then we’ll consult the sect.”
Ruan Lingyu activated the Thousand-Mile Communication Tube, relaying the situation to Elder Xu Mei.
“Protect the villagers. I’ll seek the Sect Master’s guidance. Antidote supplies will be sent if available.”
The disciples stood guard, assisting Li Shi with the infected.
Qi Huang wandered to her relatives’ homes—empty now, their familiar voices gone. The weight of loss settled in her chest.
That night, the group stayed in the village. Qi Huang kept her Divine Sense active, monitoring for spirits. With the Tongming Comb replenishing her energy, fatigue wasn’t an issue.
Five days later…
Seven men in blue-and-white uniforms—Heyi Sect disciples—entered Gaoge Village, their standardized swords glinting.

They scoured the burial site of the Mother and Child Wraiths, their expressions darkening.
“Where the hell is it?!”
A short disciple, Ge Hao, cursed.
“Explain this, Ge Hao.”
The leader, Senior Brother Ma, glared.
“I-I don’t know! Last time I checked, the Ghost Tomato was here! It wasn’t ripe yet, so I left it!”
“Did the villagers take it?”
Another disciple guessed.
“Impossible. One touch kills mortals. The whole village would be dead by now.”
Senior Brother Ma dismissed the idea.
“Besides, we warned them repeatedly not to return here after exorcising the wraiths. They wouldn’t dare.”
“Then let’s question them.”
The group stormed into Gaoge Village.
Soon, they uncovered the truth: Honghua Sect female disciples had visited—one of them took the Ghost Tomato.
“Those meddling bitches!”
Ge Hao spat, forgetting they were in Honghua Sect territory.
“Every Ghost Tomato seed was hard-earned by our sect. We will retrieve it.”
Senior Brother Ma’s jaw clenched.
