Volume 14, Chapter 953 – The Final Battle, Slaying the Heavenly Dao (Finale)

The subconscious of the Heavenly Dao entered the Primordial Space. With a single thought, the cracks on the Heavenly Dao Wall began to mend rapidly, attempting to seal Qi Huang and Cheng Hongling inside.

Qi Huang’s Boundless Demonic Hair surged out, quickly wrapping around the area around the crack on the Heavenly Dao Wall. She pulled with all her might to stop the crack from closing. She then followed it out into the outer Primordial Space, with both Zombie Cheng Hongling and Life Soul Cheng Hongling following close behind.

The subconscious of the Heavenly Dao was still unwilling to give up. Under his control, the broken fragments of the Heavenly Dao Wall transformed into countless flying knives, shooting toward Qi Huang and the two Cheng Honglings.

Zombie Cheng Hongling remained expressionless as a terrifying aura of Yin energy spread around her, corroding all the fragments of the Heavenly Dao Wall.

The subconscious of the Heavenly Dao no longer lingered. Carrying his main body, he attempted to flee in a certain direction. He had already severed his connection with the myriad worlds, which meant his main body would never awaken again. Now, he could only find a place to hide and wait for a comeback.

Qi Huang understood the principle of eradicating evil completely, so she put the slower-moving Life Soul Cheng Hongling into her spatial ring, then surged forward in pursuit.

Zombie Cheng Hongling followed right behind. Her strength was now on par with Qi Huang’s, so keeping up was no issue.

And so the chase began, both sides moving at near-light speed. Though the “couple” gave it their all, they could only watch as the Five Elements Heavenly Dao fled farther and farther. In terms of pure speed, they were clearly about ten percent slower.

“Hmph, how dare you defy your superior! When I return, it will be the day of your deaths!”

The voice of the Five Elements Heavenly Dao’s subconscious echoed throughout the boundless Primordial Space, full of bitter resentment.

“What do we do?”

Qi Huang grew anxious. If they let him escape, then she and her friends and family would have to live every day in fear.

“Take off the veil!”

At that moment, Zombie Cheng Hongling spoke up.

“What?”

Qi Huang didn’t understand right away.

“You really are an idiot.”

Zombie Cheng Hongling shot Qi Huang a glare. “It’s time to grasp at straws.”

Qi Huang suddenly understood. She hurriedly removed the veil from her face. Clutching at straws might be meaningless for others, but not when it came to Zombie Cheng Hongling.

Zombie Cheng Hongling flew over and wrapped her arms tightly around Qi Huang’s slender waist, then stared into her face with crimson eyes, focusing on the blood tear.

“Could you let me go?” Qi Huang twisted her waist awkwardly, flustered.

“Let go of you? Then you wouldn’t be able to keep up later.”

Not only did Zombie Cheng Hongling refuse to release her, she held on even tighter.

Qi Huang couldn’t take it anymore. She quickly had the two souls in her mind swap identities, hastily shifting into her female persona. At least this way, she could justify being the “delicate wife”.

Zombie Cheng Hongling’s heart began to rotate, forming a massive vortex with immense suction power. The surrounding Yin energy of the Primordial Space gathered into visible streams and flowed into her body.

Her power began to rise rapidly, her speed growing ever faster.

As Qi Huang and the others fell further behind, the Heavenly Dao’s subconscious fully relaxed. He continued to mock them: “Remember this: three years from now in the time of the Celestial Realm, I will return to take your lives. That will be your fated tribulation. Beneath the Five Elements Heavenly Dao, no one escapes the fate I’ve written. I will use your deaths to prove it.”

“You won’t get that chance. No one I wish to kill has ever escaped. Not even the Heavenly Dao.”

Zombie Cheng Hongling scoffed coldly, her speed becoming terrifying.

The subconscious of the Heavenly Dao shivered in fear and quickly scanned behind him, only to see Zombie Cheng Hongling devouring the Yin energy of the Primordial Space at a monstrous speed, like a whale swallowing a river.

“What kind of monster is this?”

The Heavenly Dao’s subconscious stared in disbelief, then fled even more desperately.

The chase continued endlessly, through countless different Heavenly Daos. Qi Huang, afraid of getting lost, marked the route along the way.

Cheng Hongling had endless Yin energy to draw upon. Not only did she avoid exhaustion, her strength kept growing. Naturally, the distance between her and the Five Elements Heavenly Dao shrank quickly.

The Heavenly Dao’s subconscious grew increasingly grim. Realizing escape was impossible, he turned and rushed toward a massive Heavenly Dao nearby, laughing maniacally: “Want to kill me? Then let’s perish together!”

“What now?”

Qi Huang panicked. From that distance, even Zombie Cheng Hongling’s speed wouldn’t be enough to stop him.

“Teleportation gate.”

Zombie Cheng Hongling reminded her calmly.

“Right!”

Qi Huang snapped to her senses and immediately pulled out the activation crossbow, opening a teleportation gate.

Without hesitation, Zombie Cheng Hongling dove in. Because the distance was short, they reappeared in front of the Heavenly Dao’s subconscious almost instantly.

Seeing his pursuers appear ahead of him, the subconscious panicked and fled blindly in another direction.

“Think you can run?”

Zombie Cheng Hongling immediately chased after him.

Once they were within range, Qi Huang released her powerful Divine Sense, blanketing the Five Elements Heavenly Dao.

Having spent nearly all his own Divine Sense during his escape, the Heavenly Dao was instantly restrained.

Qi Huang seized the moment and released Life Soul Cheng Hongling.

She knew what to do. Her killing intent transformed into a sky-darkening horde of terrifying ghosts, rushing toward the Five Elements Heavenly Dao.

By instinct, the subconscious tried to release his soul essence, but the entire area was within Qi Huang’s Divine Sense field, making it impossible. He could only watch in horror as the killing intent crushed his body.

“Ah…!”

The Heavenly Dao’s subconscious shuddered violently, letting out terrified screams as his spiritual form trembled and began to collapse.

“Die!”

Qi Huang’s Divine Sense transformed into a massive hand that grabbed the Five Elements Heavenly Dao tightly, then clenched with all her strength.

“I… I’m not willing…! My true body hasn’t awakened yet!”

The subconscious howled in despair as his body was crushed, leaving only his floating, unconscious main body behind.

Qi Huang withdrew her Divine Sense and let out a long, deep breath.

“Don’t relax yet. There’s still the main body.”

Life Soul Cheng Hongling reminded her.

“Right!”

Qi Huang nodded repeatedly, then joined her two companions in approaching the remaining body.

With the subconscious destroyed, only the main body of the Five Elements Heavenly Dao floated alone in the Primordial Space, eyes shut, breathless and lifeless.

“Life Soul, use your killing intent to weaken his spirit. Wife, you use Divine Sense to finish him off, understand?”

Zombie Cheng Hongling instructed.

Life Soul Cheng Hongling nodded and released her full killing intent to suppress the body… but this time, it had no effect.

“What’s going on?”

Life Soul Cheng Hongling froze.

Zombie Cheng Hongling thought for a moment. “Maybe it’s because he’s unconscious. Without awareness, there’s no fear.”

“It’s okay. Let me try suppressing him with Divine Sense first.”

Qi Huang released her Divine Sense, forming a massive blade, and slashed it at the Heavenly Dao’s main body.

BOOM…!

The two forces collided with a deafening crash, sending ripples through the Primordial Space.

“Ah!”

Qi Huang clutched her head in pain, letting out a muffled groan.

“Wife, are you okay?”

“Honey, are you alright?”

Both Cheng Honglings rushed to her side.

“I… I’m fine…”

Tears welled in Qi Huang’s eyes as she held her head. After a moment, she apologized with guilt: “Sorry, his main body’s Life Soul is far stronger than my Divine Sense. I can’t destroy him directly.”

“It’s okay. We’ll find another way. He’s not going anywhere.”

Life Soul Cheng Hongling comforted her.

After thinking for a bit, Qi Huang had an idea. “If he’s unconscious, he can’t resist. I might be able to assimilate him. Even if not completely, it could still weaken his spiritual body.”

“Let’s give it a try.”

Zombie Cheng Hongling agreed thoughtfully.

Qi Huang flew closer and unleashed her Assimilation Qi, gradually devouring the main body of the Five Elements Heavenly Dao.

Since he was asleep, he offered no resistance. His face gradually turned pink, a sign of assimilation.

But his strength remained high, and Qi Huang couldn’t assimilate beyond half.

“I can only assimilate half. Let’s see if that’s enough to kill him now.”

Qi Huang explained, then used her will to pull the assimilated parts away from the head, leaving behind a much smaller skull.

She took a deep breath and summoned all her Divine Sense into a blade, then slashed down again.

CRACK!

This time, it worked. The Divine Sense blade cut into the skull.

“Die!”

Qi Huang shouted, forcing the blade down.

With a swish, the Divine Sense blade cleaved all the way through.

The Heavenly Dao’s body split in two and began disintegrating like a pile of dust blown by the wind.

“It’s finally over…”

Qi Huang collapsed to the ground, tears streaming down her face. No one knew how much pressure she had borne for these hundreds of years.

The two Cheng Honglings came over and embraced her, their own bodies trembling.

“Let’s go back. Our world is being invaded by those external evil spirits. Our family is still waiting for us.”

After a long silence, Zombie Cheng Hongling reminded them.

Qi Huang gradually regained her composure and stood up with effort. She looked at the still-disappearing skull and murmured: “Lu Yao, did you see that? We’ve walked the road you couldn’t finish. From now on, no one will control our fates again. You can rest in peace.”

The three women retraced their steps. Along the way, they passed through all kinds of strange and colorful Heavenly Daos, which were already engaged in chaotic battles.

“I have a feeling… in the distant future, all of these Heavenly Daos will become our enemies.”

Life Soul Cheng Hongling said softly.

Qi Huang and Zombie Cheng Hongling both grew somber. It was plain to see.

“We’ve overcome countless dangers to make it here. Are we really supposed to fear them now? Anyone who dares invade will pay a heavy price.”

Qi Huang said with determination after a deep breath.

Before long, the trio returned to the domain of the Five Elements Heavenly Dao. From a distance, they could see countless evil spirits invading the myriad worlds through cracks in the Heavenly Dao.

“We’ve slain the Heavenly Dao and destroyed the Heavenly Court. Now it’s up to us to maintain the order of these countless worlds. Let’s go!”

Zombie Cheng Hongling called out, charging into the swarm of evil spirits.

“For the sake of my loved ones and friends, I’m willing to bear this responsibility.”

Qi Huang’s eyes were resolute. She charged in alongside Life Soul Cheng Hongling. Deep inside, she had one more goal: to master the Domain of Time and revive Cheng Hongling.

Author Note

Afterword

After two years, this book has finally come to an end. It’s like a heavy weight has been lifted off my chest. There were times when I worried I might not make it to the end, and it’s all thanks to your support that I did! I’m deeply grateful to all the readers who have stuck with this story over the past two years. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. I truly have no words to repay you, but I will always remember your support!

Actually, I’m sure many of you can tell that the story could continue if I wanted to keep writing, but I feel there’s no need. Leaving a bit of room for imagination is what makes a work truly complete.

As for a new book, I’ll try to find time to publish one. If you’re interested in knowing the release date, feel free to join the group to stay updated. Speaking of which, I need to explain—by accident, I disbanded the previous group that had over a hundred readers. I’m really sorry about that. But I’ve created a new one, and you can find the info in the comment section!

Once again, a heartfelt thank you to all my readers. Wishing you all good health and may all your wishes come true!

Translator Note

It is finally over. I have many thoughts regarding the ending and this novel as a whole. I think this is one of the few novels where the TS/gender transformation actually matters beyond the first few chapters or the occasional remarks of “I’m still a man inside”.

The first 10 volumes in my opinion were actually enjoyable for me as it explored the reason how this all started in the first place; face mask Cheng Hongling, Lu Yao, and the whole Assimilation Qi shtick. There was an actual sense of urgency and stake during those first 10 volumes as Assimilation Qi itself was still affecting Qi Huang no matter how strong she’s gotten. After that matter was resolved is where the novel got less enjoyable for me personally. The matter of sexuality, which Qi Huang made out to be such a big deal, was solved almost instantly. After they broke into the Immortal Realm, everything seemed to move in fast motion and the scale of power became ridiculous rather quickly.

The ending was… rushed… to say the least. I like me some open endings, but we barely know anything of the other Heavenly Daos… or anything outside of their world really. It could have ended on a better note if the author took more time to flesh things out. Still, I can’t really fault them for wanting to wrap things up quickly after writing nearly a thousand chapters

Anyway, rant over. It has been a fun ride. I would be lying if I said I didn’t enjoy it despite my many complaints. I think I shot myself in the foot by sticking with this schedule. Constant 6 chapters per day for 5 full months was hard to keep up. But seeing the novel doing so well, I feel like I needed to keep up the pace no matter what. As a result, you might have noticed the latter half of the series had far lesser footnotes.

Thank you to all my readers who decided to stick around for this long, none of these would have been possible without you. Until we meet again.
