Chapter 10: The Uproar
Chapter 10: The Uproar
Under the sunlight, the city suddenly became noisy, as large and small black spheres floated up from the sea one by one.
People working by the seaside stared strangely at these black spheres. On the ships entering and leaving the port, people pointed at these black spheres and exclaimed in surprise. These black spheres of various sizes started with just a few, but then like bubbles from the seabed, they kept popping up and soon covered the entire offshore area.
The incoming and outgoing ships could dodge at first, but as the number of these black spheres increased, the only way to avoid hitting these strange black spheres was to stop the ships.
“Damn it, what the hell are these things?”
A fishing boat owner told his employees to stop the boat. He walked to the side of the ship, held the railing, and looked down at the countless black spheres. Being a rough man, he immediately started cursing. These black spheres looked light and floaty. Although the fishing boat owner was angry, he did not dare to order his men to sail through them forcefully. Who knew what the hell these things were?
On the docks, everyone stopped their work and turned their heads to look at the strange sight on the sea.
“Number 1 calling, targets appeared. Fire at will while ensuring the safety of ships at sea.”
The group of Fighter Jets, which had been waiting in the sky, did not need to identify what these things were when they spotted the dense black spheres on the sea. Upon receiving the order from the command center, one Fighter Jet after another let out a sharp whistling sound. They swooped down from high altitude. Upon reaching the launch angle, incendiary bombs detached from their wings and pounced towards the sea surface. After firing, the Fighter Jets pulled their noses up sharply.
On the ships that had stopped on the sea, everyone looked dumbfounded at the Fighter Jets that had launched the attack.
“Shit, what do they think they are doing?”
Countless people on the ships, scurrying like rats, screamed in terror and hid inside the cabins.
The moment the incendiary bombs touched the sea surface, there was a loud “boom.” Within a range of dozens of meters, a huge mass of fire rippled out, engulfing all the black spheres in that area under high-temperature flames. Huge balls of fire shot up into the sky. In a moment, the entire sea surface was covered by burning fire. The black spheres floating on the sea surface made a “sizzling” sound like frying under the high-temperature burning.
“Roar…”
The attack of the Fighter Jets was like poking a hornet’s nest. Roars came from inside the black spheres of various sizes, filled with anger and violence. Inside these black spheres burning from the incendiary bombs, the Fierce Beasts trapped inside let out strange roars. They struggled fiercely, using their strong and sharp claws to tear open the membranes of the black spheres and break free.
Like a chain reaction, Fierce Beasts broke out of the black spheres one by one and appeared in the vision of the humans.
“Ah, monsters, monsters…” People’s terrified shouts rang out. Those monsters with hideous and terrifying faces, after breaking out, surged towards the coastline. Some ships that were close to the black spheres were climbed onto by the monsters, and a brutal massacre began.
The effect of the incendiary bombs was not as perfect as expected. These unknown creatures did not know what fear was at all.
The entire long coastline of the East Sea was submerged under this tidal wave of Fierce Beasts. And for the countries surrounded by the ocean on all sides, their situation was even more tragic. Without any strategic depth, they seemed destined for a certain fate. As the Pacific Ocean region that erupted the latest, the time difference with the Indian Ocean was actually less than ten hours.

At dinner time, the duty police officer brought dinner. It was just a simple five-yuan fast food meal, delivered through a small opening under the iron door. The duty police officer ignored Zhou Liming’s silence, shouted for him to eat, and then turned around and left.
Of course, Zhou Liming could not know any of this. He had fallen into a coma and was startled awake the next day by violent explosions. From the moment he opened his eyes, sounds of terrified shouting, non-stop car horns, people cursing, and heart-wrenching screams filled his ears. These sounds poured into Zhou Liming’s ears all at once, making him think he was still in a dream.
“No!”
Zhou Liming suddenly shuddered. His keen senses made him hear everything happening nearby very clearly. It was so clear that it reached his ears. This would have been absolutely impossible before, but now it was really happening. Zhou Liming did not have time to think about how this was possible, as his mind focused on these screams.
The whistling sound of Fighter Jets in the sky was still ringing. The sound of explosions from Missiles hitting targets seemed to happen right next to his ears.
Amidst the bloodthirsty roars, there were screams of people, and from time to time, the sound of buildings collapsing.
In the Public Security Bureau where Zhou Liming was held, running footsteps were heard from time to time. Shrill sirens rang out, and police cars rushed out of the Public Security Bureau one after another. Shouts were heard occasionally, and sometimes low whispers triggered waves of panic. The police officers working here were all scrambling to run out. In a short while, the entire Public Security Bureau became quiet, and no one cared about Zhou Liming, who was locked up inside.
Zhou Liming listened for a while. Aside from a faint breathing sound not far from him, the Public Security Bureau had become empty.
Outside on the street, there were sounds of people running for their lives. Occasionally, someone rushed into the Public Security Bureau to rummage around. The first few groups made sounds of joy, probably finding what they needed. But the people who entered the Public Security Bureau later all left cursing and joined the fleeing crowd.
Zhou Liming knew that chaos had broken out outside, or perhaps a major event, but he had no way of knowing exactly what was happening.
Feeling a bit depressed, Zhou Liming withdrew his sensitive hearing and mumbled, “What does what happened have to do with me? I killed someone after all!” He sat down silently, hugging his knees and burying his head in them. The events of the past few days were too chaotic and mysterious. The scales on his body and his deformed body—Zhou Liming could not understand the reason for any of it.
A week ago, he was still a good student in the eyes of his school teachers and a well-behaved child in the eyes of the Dean. But a week later, he had become a delinquent student fighting in school and a murderer in society. All of this was beyond Zhou Liming’s imagination, yet it had truly happened.
After a long while, he raised his head. His eyes swept over the fast food that had already gone cold in front of the iron door, and his stomach made a rumbling sound of hunger.
The energy consumed yesterday made Zhou Liming ignore everything else. He ran to the iron door, picked up the cold fast food, and wolfed it down.
An ordinary fast food meal could not satisfy Zhou Liming’s appetite at all. He threw away the empty box, then dazedly returned to the corner and sat there blankly, looking at his hands from time to time. They looked normal but hid a surging power. The shadow of yesterday’s transformation still hung over his heart.
The chaos in the city outside intensified at this moment.
Strange “chirping” sounds appeared on the street in front of the Public Security Bureau, like a massive swarm of crawling insects moving, making a “rustling” sound.
