Volume 3, Chapter 11 – Flaws in Acting
“Sister Mengxi, the Jade Fiery Fish Cake, Saberton Chicken, and roasted Camel Dragon meat you wanted are all ready~”
At noon, Yumo pushed the food cart slowly into Mengxi’s lounge. Upon seeing Yumo’s arrival, Mengxi, who was sitting on the bed, immediately broke into a bright, happy smile. Ignoring the fact that she was only wearing a thin white hospital gown and the risk of exposing herself, the barefoot Mengxi was instantly at Yumo’s side amidst a flurry of silver-white light.
“Wow, Little Mo, that’s incredible! You actually made them!”
Looking at those three delicacies, stars couldn’t help but twinkle in Mengxi’s pale purple eyes. Having eaten nothing but vegetarian meals for several days, Mengxi had long since missed Sister Yumo’s cooking. She didn’t know if her palate had been spoiled by Sister Yumo back in the Deepwinter Forest, but now, eating food made by anyone else felt bland. To be honest, Sister Yumo’s cooking was truly delicious. So much so that Mengxi, who originally only wanted to tease Sister Yumo with the cooking, found her mouth watering with joy the moment she saw the dishes.
“Wow, thank you so much, Little Mo! Here’s a reward~”
Without another word, Mengxi picked up Yumo, who was currently in the form of a pink-haired girl, and planted a sudden, forceful kiss directly on her fair and tender little face.
“Huh?! Big sister?!”
Startled by the sudden kiss, Yumo couldn’t help but let out a small cry of surprise. However, since she had grown accustomed to Mengxi’s physical affection and kisses lately, Yumo didn’t have an exaggerated reaction. Once Mengxi set her down, Yumo placed the dishes onto the nearby dining table.
“Sister Mengxi, eat while it’s hot.”
“Feed me, Little Mo~”
“Huh?”
Hearing this, Yumo froze for a moment and looked at the silver-haired girl in front of her with some bewilderment.
“Big sister, you want me to… feed you?”
“Yes~”

Mengxi pouted her little mouth pitifully and raised her right hand, showing Yumo her injured fingers.
“Look, my fingers haven’t recovered yet, so I can’t hold the knife and fork at the same time. So, please, Little Mo~”
“Uh, well…”
‘You didn’t seem to have any problems when you were pinching my face just now!’
Yumo couldn’t help but complain inwardly. However, after thinking for a moment, she sighed helplessly. Facing Mengxi’s “tearful” expression, Yumo chose to agree. As always, Yumo was defenseless against someone acting cute.
“Fine, if that’s what you want, big sister.”
“Heehee, Little Mo is so good to me~”
“…”
Yumo felt that this girl had become increasingly mischievous since she woke up. Besides, feeding her? Looking at the slice of Camel Dragon meat she had just cut, Yumo frowned slightly. Back in the Deepwinter Forest, she had been playing the role of the older sister while Mengxi was a patient regressed to a childlike state, so it was fine to feed her then. But now, she was clearly the “child” while the female lead was the older sister. How did it end up with her still doing the feeding? Something wasn’t right!
‘Am I just fated to be a feeder?’
Thinking of this, Yumo pursed her lips in slight frustration. However, she quickly hid her expression, blew on the meat to cool it down, and used a fork to deliver it into Mengxi’s mouth. After chewing for a moment, the silver-haired girl closed her eyes and wore an expression of pure bliss.
“Mmm! It’s so delicious! Little Mo is just too amazing!”
“Heehee~”
Yumo smiled slightly with pride at Mengxi’s praise. Seeing the other girl enjoy her cooking and show such a happy smile gave Yumo a sense of accomplishment.

“I’m glad Sister Mengxi likes it.”
“Speaking of which, Little Mo, this meat tastes wonderful and seems quite fresh.”
“Yes, it was just cut.”
“Just now?”
“Uh, no, I mean, the Blackrose Family just came back from a hunt and happened to bring back some Camel Dragon meat, so they gave me some.”
“Oh, is that so~”
While continuing to eat the food Yumo fed her, Mengxi wore a playful expression.
“Camel Dragon meat is a very rare ingredient. While fresh meat is delicious, it’s even harder to come by. The people from the Blackrose Family actually gave it to you directly? And it’s even the best tail meat section… Hmm, Little Mo, are you on very good terms with the Blackrose Family?”
“No, we aren’t that close. It’s just that I spent some time with them in the Guest Reception Hall before. Perhaps they just like children?”
Yumo blinked her large eyes and spoke with utter “sincerity”, showing no hint that she was making things up. However, upon hearing this, although Mengxi smiled, her brow twitched with a deep, imperceptible meaning.
‘Sister Yumo is lying again.’
At that moment, Mengxi felt slightly displeased. Regardless of everything, she still hoped the girl before her could be honest with her. To be fair, Sister Yumo was a good actress; even she had been fooled when they first met. However, after spending time together, she was surprised to discover that although Sister Yumo’s acting was good, there were flaws—such as her gaze, small finger movements, and slight fluctuations in her aura. These tiny details that were absent during normal communication would subconsciously flicker in and out when Sister Yumo lied.
‘How strange…’

Judging by Sister Yumo’s tone and facial muscles, she should have received professional acting training, likely from a master-level actor. Yet, Sister Yumo still had these small flaws in the details. While she could naturally fool most people, someone who spent a lot of time with her would eventually notice the signs. Were these flaws due to her teacher’s negligence during her training? Or did the person who taught Sister Yumo acting purposely leave a back door by planting these tiny loopholes?
‘Hehe, if that was the case, the people around Sister Yumo might also have their own hidden agendas.’
At that same moment, Saibok, who was sitting on the back of an Abyssal Demon while clutching two black Abyssal Demon eggs, suddenly sneezed for no reason.
“A-choo!”
Rubbing his nose, Saibok looked around in confusion. ‘Huh? Why do I feel like someone is talking about me behind my back?’
‘Whatever, if they had hidden agendas, then let them. At least, thanks to that unknown teacher, it was now easier for her to figure out what Sister Yumo was thinking.’
Thinking of this, Mengxi gradually revealed a profound smile that made Yumo shudder and feel an inexplicable chill down her spine.
“Alright, if you aren’t close, then you aren’t close. I understand. But since you accepted their meat, remember to return the favor later.”
“Mhm, I know.”
“Good girl~”

Pinching Yumo’s fair little face, Mengxi nodded with satisfaction. However, as she pinched, a thought gradually surfaced in Mengxi’s mind. Since she could now roughly judge whether Sister Yumo was lying through certain details, there was a question she was quite curious about. From the previous conversation between Sister Yumo and that Cult Leader, Sister Yumo had approached and nurtured her specifically to destroy the Hall of Ten Thousand Demons. So, as an Abyssal Demon, how did Sister Yumo actually view her?
Although Mengxi could guess roughly from Sister Yumo’s actions, she still wanted further confirmation. After taking a few deep breaths, Mengxi rested her chin on her hand and looked at the pink-haired girl with a hint of gravity, reaching out to hold Yumo’s tender hand.
“Little Mo, let me ask you something.”
“Hmm? What is it, Sister Mengxi?”
The sudden serious atmosphere made Yumo pause, her azure eyes blinking with curiosity. Under Yumo’s curious and slightly puzzled gaze, Mengxi spoke slowly.
“Little Mo, tell me the truth. What kind of person do you think I am?”
“Huh? Hmm… A good person, a very gentle and wonderful sister!”
“Then, does Little Mo like me?”
“Eh?”
Why was she asking this all of a sudden? Yumo was stunned again for a moment. However, after coming to her senses, Yumo nodded without hesitation and replied with innocent and cute words.
“Of course I like you~”
Their Mengxi was so cute, kind, pure, beautiful, brave, and understanding. How could anyone not like such a good child? Upon receiving this answer and carefully observing the pink-haired girl’s reaction, a rare blush appeared on Mengxi’s face.
‘This time, it seems Sister Yumo isn’t lying…’
