Volume 1, Chapter 46
“Fire!! Blast them with everything you’ve got!! You must not let those Abyssal Demons get close! Blow them all to hell!!”
Atop the walls of Fort Garros, facing the encroaching pressure of death, Krimde was screaming hysterically. The mages, hearing his words, were conflicted. However, after exchanging glances, they ultimately chose to obey the order.
They increased the output of their anti-army magic, and a sky-blotting barrage of fireballs rained down relentlessly toward the black ocean of monsters before the fortress.
Seeing this, the female adjutant felt an intense sense of unease.
Gritting her teeth, she couldn’t help but run to Krimde’s side. “Lord Krimde! Shouldn’t we cover the Ashurmos Church knights as they enter the city first?! Regardless of anything else, they have a temporary treaty with our Snownight Empire! Bombarding our allies like this… it’s completely inappropriate, isn’t it? This could lead to a diplomatic incident later…”
“Who cares if it’s appropriate?!”
Hearing the adjutant’s words, Krimde frowned. Without a word, he grabbed her collar and pulled her close to his face. “The Abyssal Demons are already attacking! Finding a way to stop their advance is the top priority! As for those Ashurmos Church knights, why should we care about them? They’re just a bunch of swindlers using the Goddess’s name to deceive people! Let them die! Who cares if they were blown up by us? We’ll just tell the world they were killed by Abyssal Demons! No one will blame us!”
“But, but…”
“But what?! Just follow my orders! Besides, after being chased by so many Abyssal Demons, who knows if those Ashurmos Church knights have been infected? They might have been infected long ago and are beyond saving! Just treat them as Abyssal Demons too! So stop nagging me! If you keep making noise, I’ll throw you down to feed the Abyssal Demons myself!”
Krimde’s eyes were filled with a terrifying murderous intent. The adjutant was so frightened she didn’t dare say another word.
Seeing his adjutant silenced, Krimde turned his attention back to the mage units standing on the high platforms. He continued to urge them tiresomely, “Hurry up! You useless trash! Increase the power!! You absolutely must… huh??”
However, before Krimde could finish his sentence, his pupils suddenly constricted. A black laser abruptly burst into his field of vision!
?!

Eh?!
That was?!
In the next instant-
BOOM!!
Accompanied by an earth-shattering explosion, dust billowed as the black Shadow Essence rapidly expanded and erupted! The entire platform, including the eight Archmages atop it, was engulfed by the black energy in an instant.
Under the horrified gaze of Krimde and the soldiers, the massive crimson magic circle and the entire platform abruptly disintegrated! The eight powerful mages were also instantly eroded by the black energy. Amidst agonizing screams, they were suddenly corroded into puddles of blood!
The aftershock of the explosion spread rapidly, shattering several nearby soldiers into pieces.
Although Krimde raised his hand to defend himself in time, he was still sent flying dozens of meters by the terrifying force.
“What… what is going on??”
When Krimde crawled back up and looked toward the platform, it was already a hellish scene of black, viscous corrosive liquid. A soldier, whose body was mostly corroded and whose lower half was nothing but white bone, was crawling hysterically toward Krimde.
His mouth was filled with muffled, tragic wails.
Seeing this, a chill ran down Krimde’s spine, and his entire body trembled uncontrollably.

However, when he looked around, the fortress commander’s eyes shrank violently, his entire face twisting into a grotesque and ridiculous mask of horror.
It wasn’t just the platform in front of him.
All six platforms performing anti-army magic had been hit by black lasers! Every single one of them had been completely corroded away, taking half of Fort Garros’ high-level mages with them…
“How… how can this be??”
In an instant, Krimde was at a total loss. He stood frozen on the spot, his brain almost stalling as he stared at the carnage around him.
“Those… those Abyssal Demons… they actually… actually targeted my mage units??”
Aren’t Abyssal Demons supposed to be mindless creatures?
Why would they… why would they suddenly focus their fire to attack the mages??
Confusion reigned in Krimde’s mind. While the commander was stunned, a silver silhouette suddenly burst into his field of vision nearby!
Seeing the silver-haired girl who had jumped directly onto the wall from outside the fortress, followed by several Ashurmos Church knights, Krimde’s expression changed drastically. He hurriedly pointed a trembling hand at them.
“You… you people!! How did you??”
Krimde loathed the Ashurmos Church. He loathed them deeply! That was why he had ordered the bombardment.
But he also knew how terrifying the Ashurmos Church was. If these people lived and reported what he had done today back to the Church, his future would undoubtedly be ruined!

Damn it, how did these guys not die?!
No, this can’t happen. I can’t let them enter the fortress like this!
Driven to hysteria and losing his reason from the shock, Krimde stared fixedly at the Ashurmos Church group with a fierce and questioning gaze.
“No! You can’t come in!! You must have been infected by the Abyssal Demons! Letting you in will kill us all!!”
Hearing Krimde’s crazed words, Mengxi narrowed her pale violet eyes. Her cold gaze swept over this clown who had torn up their treaty.
Although she desperately wanted to strike down this foolish man who had nearly killed her, Mengxi forced down her internal rage, considering they were still at Fort Garros, Krimde’s territory.
She spoke as calmly as possible. “Mr. Krimde, please rest assured. We have not been infected. Our aura…”
However, before Mengxi could finish, Krimde rudely interrupted her.
“Who knows if you’re talking nonsense! If you’re really not infected and haven’t been wounded by the Abyssal Demons, then take off your clothes and armor to prove it! If you can’t prove it, then get the hell out of here!”
I don’t believe it. After being hunted by so many Abyssal Demons for so long, they can’t possibly be without a single scratch! Even if it’s a wound from a fireball! As long as there’s a wound, I’ll insist it was done by an Abyssal Demon! Then, I can “rightfully” throw you all out! My soldiers… it’ll be easy to shut their mouths! Once you’re dead, no one will ever know!
Thinking of this, Krimde couldn’t help but reveal a chilling smile.
Seeing that smile, Mengxi bit her lip. She had already guessed Krimde’s thoughts.

“Krimde… you bastard…”
Meanwhile, Mengxi wasn’t the only one who realized what he was thinking after hearing his words. The pink-haired girl in her arms did as well. A feeling of extreme dissatisfaction surfaced in the girl’s mind.
It seems things have been peaceful for far too long.
To think someone like this could become a fortress commander…
As Krimde continued his aggressive threats, a faint, imperceptible crimson light emanated from the pink-haired girl’s beautiful azure eyes. In the distance, amidst the tide of Abyssal Demons, a “little cutie” with eight pairs of eyes suddenly raised its head…
Of course, Krimde couldn’t have noticed these details. By now, he had drawn the saber at his waist, preparing to forcibly drive Mengxi and the others back outside the fortress.
“Sorry, everyone. Since you can’t prove your innocence, I’ll just have to… eh??”
However, before Krimde could finish his sentence, a burst of black light erupted from the distant swarm of Abyssal Demons!
A black laser, brimming with chilling killing intent, came whistling from afar! Caught off guard, it hit Krimde squarely in the head!
“Eh??”
After letting out a small gasp, under the terrified gazes of the Fort Garros soldiers, Krimde’s words were cut short. His head and upper body were instantly eroded by the black energy, turning into a nauseating, viscous black liquid at a speed visible to the naked eye…
