Volume 1, Chapter 62 – Risking Everything

The Chosen Maiden!

She was one of the greatest enemies blocking Lord Demon God from purifying this world! She was a dangerous existence that threatened Lord Demon God’s safety!

No matter what, regardless of the cost, she had to be eliminated! This was the duty of every member of the Divine Punishment Holy Church!

And the best way to eliminate the Chosen Maiden was to act before she fully matured!

Which meant now!

Recalling the beliefs of the church and his thoughts before the operation, Zack’s mind was undoubtedly a mess at this moment! In his view, the current Chosen Maiden was merely a fifth tier mid-rank youngster! It was absolutely the best time to strangle her in her cradle!

Working with his boss, even without support from other members of the Divine Punishment Holy Church, as long as two sixth tier powerhouses joined forces, shouldn’t killing a fifth-tier mid-rank girl be as easy as reaching for something in one’s pocket?!

However, after the actual engagement began, Zack discovered that reality had slapped them both hard across the face without showing any mercy!

This so-called Chosen Maiden was a total monster!!

According to the teachings of the Ashurmos Church, shouldn’t the Chosen Maiden be a gentle, holy, and perfect woman filled with an inviolable aura?! But the person before them didn’t look holy at all! This was a damn monster!

While Zack was roaring internally, the melodious voice of a young girl suddenly reached his ears. Though it sounded pleasant, it carried an indescribable sense of oppression and eeriness, like the whisper of the Reaper, causing Zack’s heart to nearly stop beating!

“What’s wrong? Weren’t you acting quite arrogant just now? Weren’t you shouting about gouging out my heart?”

?!!

This… this voice?!

‘No, this is bad!’

Realizing something was wrong, Zack hurriedly turned his head and looked behind him toward the source of the voice. The moment he turned and saw the scene behind him, his brown eyes suddenly constricted, and an endless fear spread through his heart like a virus.

A masked, silver-haired girl had somehow evaded Elbino’s attack and appeared behind Zack. Within the girl’s pale purple eyes, a terrifying and eerie purple-black light faintly flickered, making Zack’s spine turn cold the moment he met her gaze.

“Don’t… don’t… don’t look down on me!!”

Driven by his survival instinct, Zack let out a hysterical roar and spun around violently, mobilizing every ounce of battle aura in his body! He swung the twin scythes in his hands with all his might, prepared to fight a life-and-death struggle against that eerie Chosen Maiden!

Even if he couldn’t kill her, he had to wound her severely to create an opportunity for his big brother, Elbino! It didn’t matter even if he died!

However, as Zack turned his head with such thoughts, Mengxi suddenly let out a cruel smile and even produced a mocking laugh.

“Haha~ Hahahaha~ You are unexpectedly stupid!”

In the next instant, just as Zack turned around and before he could even swing his scythes, a “pu” sound echoed. Along with the splashing of blood, four silver longswords hovering around Mengxi suddenly pierced through Zack’s limbs in a flash of lightning!

A mouthful of bright red blood sprayed from Zack’s mouth. The silver longswords piercing his limbs suddenly emitted bursts of dazzling silver light, and an unbearable, intense pain instantly surged into Zack’s brain from the wounds, making him scream piteously.

“AAAAAAAAAHH!!”

The intense pain caused Zack’s brain to almost shut down at that moment. And in that moment of hesitation, the silver-haired girl before him narrowed her eyes slightly and thrust a sword straight through Zack’s chest, piercing through his heart.

In an instant, blood dyed his black robe red. Zack’s consciousness completely plummeted into the endless abyss at this moment, his brown eyes lost their focus, and his body fell powerlessly to the ground…

“Zack!!”

Damn it!!

Watching his fallen comrade not far away, Elbino clenched his fists in fury! He glared fixedly at the silver-haired girl who had killed his companion!

“You… you damn bastard!!”

Reflected in Elbino’s black eyes, the silver-haired girl’s silver skirt armor had become tattered from the previous battle, exposing large patches of snow-white skin to the air, which were now covered in numerous fresh blade wounds! The girl’s blood and Zack’s blood had dyed that pure white battle skirt red, along with a third of the girl’s long silver hair.

There was no doubt that the Chosen Maiden’s injuries were quite significant. It wouldn’t be an exaggeration to say she was bathed in blood.

However, even with such severe injuries, Elbino couldn’t detect a single trace of pain in the silver-haired girl’s eyes. It was as if she couldn’t feel pain?!

As the wounds increased, the woman’s gaze became increasingly terrifying, and her surrounding aura shifted from the initial inviolable holiness to its current gloomy and oppressive state…

More importantly, her combat ability was actually continuing to rise?!

Fighting two sixth tier powerhouses as a fifth tier mid-rank was already exaggerated enough! He hadn’t expected that as time passed, this woman would actually grow stronger the more she fought, gradually beginning to suppress them! Now, she had even killed Zack?!

Are you kidding me!

Elbino roared in his mind, his spirit on the verge of breaking. At this moment, Elbino finally understood why the Pope had instructed them that they needed at least four sixth tier fighters to move against the Chosen Maiden…

This woman was clearly a monster!

Looking at the blood-stained girl holding a silver sword in the distance, Elbino couldn’t help but feel a sense of dread. The confidence he had at the start was gone from his black eyes, replaced only by a profound sense of gravity.

?!!!

Mm?! Dammit!!

While Elbino was staring intently at Mengxi, the silver-haired girl suddenly transformed into a blood-streaked silver meteor, rushing directly in front of Elbino with lightning speed and violently swinging the silver blade in her hand toward his neck!

A suffocating pressure of death suddenly assaulted Elbino’s heart! However, compared to Zack, Elbino was more experienced. Facing this crisis of life and death, Elbino forcibly suppressed the fear in his heart and maintained as much calm as possible!

Then, the black battle aura inside Elbino’s body suddenly erupted! He directly activated the defensive magic on his right wristband, using the mid-tier magic ‘Hekado’s Wall Armor’ to forcefully withstand that lethal slash!

Seeing her attack blocked, the battle lust in Mengxi’s eyes grew even more intense.

“Hahahaha!! Not bad!! You’re quite good!!”

In the next moment, Mengxi spun around violently and delivered a kick to Elbino’s chest, sending the executioner of the Divine Punishment Holy Church flying back dozens of meters to crash heavily against the distant wall.

A mouthful of blood involuntarily escaped Elbino’s mouth. Four of his ribs had snapped at that moment. After struggling to crawl up from the ground, Elbino was in agony, and the battle aura in his body was almost exhausted.

‘Is this… is this where it ends?’

In the end, had he still failed to kill the Chosen Maiden?

No, that won’t do. It can’t end like this. I still have a trump card; I can still make one final stand!

Looking up to glare at the silver-haired girl who was charging toward him once more, Elbino revealed a distorted smile.

Yes! I can’t give up!

After letting out a hysterical internal roar, Elbino suddenly swallowed a black pill emitting a strange aura!

‘I… I cannot let Lord Pope down! I… I must kill this Chosen Maiden! I will kill this so-called female lead!’
