Volume 2, Chapter 15 – Walking into the Trap
Translator Note
I got my hands on some of the illustrations. A few of them are really low res, so I’m not really sure what to do with them. I guess I should just make a separate post compiling them all together? 1 chapter unlocked
Undressing, changing her into pajamas, putting her in bed, and covering her with the blanket… the entire process was done in one smooth motion; it could be said that Miss Yumo was well-practiced.
After settling Mengxi, Yumo closed the bedroom door and applied a protective and soundproofing magic barrier outside the room. Once everything was taken care of, Yumo returned to the dining room, prepared to deal with the large table of delicious dishes.
Mengxi hadn’t eaten much, so after the girl finished her meal, the food on the table remained basically untouched. However, Yumo wasn’t worried about the issue of waste, since those two girls, Li Mo and Li Yu, hadn’t eaten yet. It wouldn’t be a problem for them to polish off these leftovers once they returned. Don’t be fooled by the two sisters’ small stature; their true forms were massive demon king tier Abyssal Demons, and strictly speaking, this amount of food wasn’t even enough to get stuck between their teeth.
But, hmm… Looking at the table full of delicacies, her gaze drifted toward the various international magazines Saibok had delivered earlier. Yumo couldn’t help but recall her life as a student. Back then, when she was home alone, she would often cook a few dishes or order takeout, then eat leisurely while watching the computer or reading a novel…
‘How about I experience those old days again after all this time?’
It just so happened that Mengxi was asleep, so she could enjoy some peaceful personal time. Thinking of this, Yumo smiled slightly, picked up a seemingly interesting sports magazine, and walked slowly toward the dining table.
Wait? Right then, Yumo’s eyebrows twitched slightly as a certain crimson energy entity suddenly broke into her perception field and charged toward the wooden cabin at extreme speed!
“That aura, she’s back? It looks like we can eat together after all,” Miss Yumo felt quite good and smiled thinly.
Except, in the next instant, Yumo’s smile gradually stiffened.

‘Wait! Hold on?! This, this direction?!’ Looking toward the window across the dining table and seeing the crimson meteor rapidly approaching in the distance, Yumo’s expression changed drastically…
“Hey!!! You brat! Stop!”
Unfortunately, Yumo’s shout came a bit too late. In the next moment, “Boom!!”
Accompanied by an explosion of crimson Shadow Essence, the exquisite window shattered violently, and the wooden wall was instantly turned to ash by the high heat! Surrounded by flames and black soot, a beautiful and cute wolf girl held her hands high, jumping into the house after letting out an excited cry of “Oh yeah!”
Then, the wolf girl waved cheerfully behind her, “Yeah!! I’m first!! Li Yu, you lost!!”
Undoubtedly, this white-haired girl was the little brat Li Mo. At this moment, Li Mo had finally successfully escaped from “stupid mode” and returned to her former state! Having just returned to normal, Li Mo was clearly overexcited, to the point that she had started a racing game with Li Yu! Of course, it was one-sided. Li Yu wanted to stop her, but it was far too late, and ultimately…
On the other side, a moment later, surrounded by emerald Shadow Essence, the little brat Li Yu descended from the sky with her wings fluttering, “Sister!! How could you… be so reckless!” Li Yu couldn’t help but complain.
Seeing the mess on the outer wall of the cabin, Li Yu couldn’t help but press a hand to her forehead. If she had known, she wouldn’t have let Shuoyue heal this stupid sister so quickly, or rather, she should have taken preventive measures herself. It was truly a miscalculation…
“Sister! You really are… eh??”

Wait. Suddenly, the newly landed Li Yu held her breath, staring behind Li Mo with a look of utter shock. Her small face turned pale instantly, and the words she was about to say were forced back down her throat…
“Hmm? What’s wrong, Li Yu?” Seeing her sister’s words come to an abrupt halt, countless question marks appeared over Li Mo’s head as she looked at her sister curiously.
However, faced with Li Mo’s question, Li Yu fell into an eerie silence, looking at her foolish sister with an expression that said ‘wish you the best of luck’. Naturally, the dim-witted Li Mo couldn’t understand the meaning behind Li Yu’s expression and instead tilted her head in confusion.
“What is it?! Why that face all of a sudden?! Don’t tell me, don’t tell me you want to back out after losing!”
To this, Li Yu remained silent. Under Li Mo’s bewildered gaze, the wings that should have been retracted back into her body spread out once more, and then Li Yu simply flew away in silence…
What? Meow? What’s going on? This left the husky—no, left Li Mo completely dazed.
However, she didn’t care to think too much about it now. Only one thought remained in her mind: she needed to go find Mother and tell her she was back to normal! Then, she would receive Mother’s loving caresses!!
Hehe~ Imagining the scene of Mother stroking her head, Li Mo couldn’t help but grin. Then the wolf girl trotted around and ran toward the interior of the house.
As soon as she turned her head, Li Mo discovered to her surprise that a stunning black-haired girl was standing there with her arms crossed, head tilted as she watched her in silence…

“Huh?!! Mother?!” Seeing Yumo, the wolf cub couldn’t help but let out a surprised expression, her red eyes blinking.
Wait? Mother was already in the hall?! She hadn’t sensed her at all?! Had Mother suppressed her Shadow Essence aura? Why would she suppress it?
Several questions surfaced in Li Mo’s mind again, but soon, little Li Mo chose to ignore them once more! Because more than thinking about those questions, she wanted to rush into Mother’s arms to act spoiled and cute! She wanted cuddles!
And so, Li Mo trotted forward! Except, just as she leaped out, Li Mo’s brow suddenly furrowed.
Although the wolf cub was a bit dim, her animal instincts were still quite powerful. After getting close to Yumo, a strange chill suddenly transmitted into Li Mo’s small brain, making the wolf cub instinctively feel a sense of hair-raising dread! It was only then that the late-reacting Li Mo noticed the details of her surroundings.
Not to mention the house was a mess, the floor was covered in what looked like very delicious food… Come to think of it, Li Yu seemed to have mentioned that Mother was cooking tonight… and then, she seemed to have…
More importantly… looking at Yumo’s already darkened face and her beautiful features wearing a “kind” smile, Li Mo instantly sucked in a breath of cold air and held it. Her ears and tail puffed up immediately!
“Ah, I just remembered, I need to go guard the border!!! I’m… I’m leaving first!!” Without another word, Li Mo changed direction and prepared to bolt!
Unfortunately, by the time she noticed Yumo’s expression, the wolf cub was already a sheep in the tiger’s den…

In the next instant, just as Li Mo was about to start running, Yumo’s slender hand shot out like a bone-crushing claw! She grabbed Li Mo’s big white tail directly!
“Meow, meow-woo??”
To avoid scaring Mengxi, Yumo had been suppressing the use of Shadow Essence. Even without the empowerment of Shadow Essence, Yumo’s physical fitness was still terrifying! Combined with the specific debuff she held over the wolf cub, Yumo’s light tug caused the wolf cub to instantly lose her balance, falling flat on her face and plunging headfirst into a piece of mangled cake!
The wolf cub wanted to flee, wanted to struggle, but found that after her tail of destiny was caught, her whole body went limp. She had truly become a lamb to the slaughter. She could only look back at Yumo with a pitiful gaze.
“Mother, I-I-I was wrong,”
Unfortunately, Yumo, whose inner volcano was on the verge of erupting, wasn’t going to pay any mind to Li Mo’s distress. Today, Yumo was determined to be a strict mother.
“Since you’ve finally come back, let’s have a good talk with Mama, Little Mo~” Yumo said in a gentle voice.
Though her tone was gentle, Yumo’s gaze at that moment was terrifying enough to make the King of Hell cry. Looking at her mother’s terrifying face and that soul-crushing aura, Li Mo couldn’t help but tremble all over.
In the next moment, accompanied by the wolf cub’s shrill screams, Yumo dragged Li Mo by the tail and walked slowly into the depths of the wooden house…
